Linked server access issue when hosting application in IIS

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi,

I have two instance of database and connected the other with linked server. When i run the application locally its working fine. It gets valur from linked server tables. After hosting the application in IIS im getting following eror.

The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LINK" does not contain the table ""90"."dbo"."table"". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table.

Can anyone specify what user should be mapped to solve this issue?

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

Hi,

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

With Regards,

Ashok

Upsize Your Database: Convert Your Microsoft Access Application to Take Advantage of SQL Server 7.0

What if you need to convert an existing Microsoft Access 97 database application into a true client-server application that is based on a SQL Server back end? If you know a little about Visual Basic and SQL Server, it's easy to make your app take advantage of the power and scalability provided by SQL Server 7.0. Using some concrete code examples, this article takes you step by step through converting the native Jet queries in your Access application into stored procedures and pass-through queries that SQL Server can use. You'll also learn how to pass on parameters when your client-server app calls these SQL Server stored procedures and queries.

Linked Server to access Excel 2007

Hi

I'm tried SELECT * INTO XXX FROM OPENROWSET alongwith Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0.

Apparently the query requires the sql account to have SYSADMIN privileges.

Considering that SYSADMIN should not be provided to a database account on a Production Server, I tried using the Linked Server method.

Following is my code.

Exec sp_addlinkedserver 'AB2','Ace 12.0','Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0','\\202.46.215.35\sagarr\Test1\cpc\c2\AB2.xlsx',NULL,'Excel 12.0;IMEX=1'
Exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'AB2','false',NULL,NULL,NULL
go
SELECT * INTO [CPCAB2.xlsx] FROM OPENQUERY([AB2] ,'SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]')
Exec sp_dropserver 'AB2','droplogins'

Now i get the following error

Error.15247-User does not have permission to perform this action

My Excel file, Database and Windows Application run on separate machines.

i have provided the following privileges

GRANT ALTER ANY LOGIN TO sqlaccount
GRANT ALTER ANY LINKED SERVER TO sqlaccount

EXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1
RECONFIGURE
EXEC sp_configure 'ad hoc distributed queries', 1
RECONFIGURE

Linked server to access 2010

I keep getting an error when setting up a linked server in sql 2008 R2 x64 to a microsoft access database file (mdb or accdb file).  (The problem occurs on computers with either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of ms office installed).  What are the proper connection string settings?  (This is after right clicking linked servers in ssms and selecting "add new linked server")  The below settings don't work: Provider (from dropdown): Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database ENgine OLE DB Provider Product name: Access Data source: C:\foopath\foo.mdb  --also doesn't work for foo.accdb Provider string: Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. Search Server Express 2010 - Access Denied when attempting to manage Search Service Application or P

I first noticed this error with the Search Service Application when I was no longer able to use the search portal, but have since noticed the issue with the PowerPoint Service Application.  When I navigate in Central Administration to either the "Farm Search Administration" or the "Manage service applications" pages and attempt to manage the "Search Service Application", I get this error: Error: Access Denied  Current User You are currently signed in as:  WHEELERS\MyUserName   Sign in as a different user    I have tried removing the service application and re-adding it, changing the application pool to running under an existing application pool as the farm administrator, as another application pool with the same identity as the primary web application, and as another application pool running under the SP-SearchService identity. The big recent change with SharePoint, aside from fixing the previous issue where I was incorrectly using CNAMEs with Kerberos, was to switch the main web application to claims authentication. That site correctly works with claims based authentication and Kerberos.

VBA application can no longer access SQL Server

For a not-for-profit organization (www.ace-event.org ), I developed a simple MS Word application. Basically, upon opening the app, it accesses data on a remote SQL Server to populate a form, which is then used to generate a document. I used www.ConnectionStrings.com to help configure the DSN-less connection. The application, which was developed in April 2009 under XP Pro and Office 2003 ran perfectly through Jan 2010. The reason for my posting should be obvious – the application no longer runs. I have tried running it on three different computer with XP Pro/Office 2003, XP Pro/Office 2007, and Win7/Office 2010 respectively. In all cases, I get the error: Run-time error ‘-2147467259 (80004005)’: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I cannot be 100% certain that the error code returned was the same in each case. I am, however, 100% certain that the code is completely identical to that which ran previously and that the error occurs before any network access occurs. Here is the connection string code:     Set cn = New ADODB.Connection     cn.ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Native Client};Server=<ip_address>\sqlexpress,1433;Database=<db_name>;Uid=<UID>;Pwd=<PWD>"     cn.CursorLocation = adUseClient     cn.Open I have

Linked Server To MS Access using Jet Returns "unspecified error"

I'm have SQL SERVER 2008 on Win2008 Server. I have several linked servers to Oracle (odbc) and have just created Linked Servers to MS access 2003 databases on network shares. I can 'test connection' and select data from the linked ms access servers using 4 part naming no problem. As soon as I do this, the Oracle db links stop working. I reboot the server, test connection to Oracle dbs , all ok there, run test connection to ms access dbs and receive the following;Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "MYAccessLink"".OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "MYAccessLink" returned message "Unspecified error". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 109) Reboot server, perform test again, toggling the order and I get the same results.Have tried opening ms access via openrowset and "execute ('select count(*) from SomeTable') at MYAccessLink" to rule out test connection (sp_testlinkedserver) doing something to crash the links. Deadlock issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 (.Net 2.0 Application)

The Sql Server 2008 R2 instance in question is a heavy load OLTP production server. The deadlock issue came up a few days back and is still unresolved. We received the Xml deadlock report that listed the stored procedures involved in the deadlock and some other details. I'll try to list down the facts from this xml first: Two stored procedures are involved in the deadlock, say SP1 and SP2. According to the report SP1 was running in Isolation level "Serializable" and SP2 was running in "ReadCommitted" . We have investigated the following: Are we setting IsolationLevel of SP1 to "Serializable" inside SP or in Code? - No. Is any other SP whose IsolationLevel is "Serializable" calling SP1? - No. Are the table used by SP1 called by any other SP that has Isolation Level as "Serializable"? - Yes. There are SPs that have Isolation Level set to "Serializable" and access the same tables as SP1, but we don't know whether they were running at the time of deadlock or not as the deadlock report only showed SP1 and SP2. Lines of thought: We have considered the following possible causes: Deadlock is occurring because SP1 is running as "Serializable". - Why is this SP running in Serializable when I haven't set it? Is the Isolation level escalating (like locks do)? If we figure this out and make it run as ReadCom

Linked Server UPDATE issue

Hello forum,

I'm doing a simple data load between two linked servers, and everything is working fine until I include an UPDATE statement, that's when I receive the following error message.

OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "ServerName" returned message "The partner transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions.".

Msg 7391, Level 16, State 2, Line 28

The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "ServerName" was unable to begin a distributed transaction.

the Distribute Transaction Coordinator service is running on all machines, and I'm able to do INSERTs between the two servers. Here is a part of the code I'm using. It works fine if I don't include the UPDATE.

BEGIN TRAN

Issue with Connection of Sybase in SSIS and Linked Server in SQL Server

Iam having problem connecting with Sybase from SSIS or Link Server of SQL Server 2008.

I have installed Sybase 12.5.1 OLE DB Driver and have also registered by running command:

 C:\sybase\DataAccess\OLEDB\dll>regsvr32 sybdrvoledb.dll

We are also able to create System DSN from ODBC Administrator in Windows 7. I am also able to import data in the MS Access. Here is the System DSN I created, successfully.

I would really appreciate you can help us out.

Linked Server Mapping Error "Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists"

SQL Server 2005 SP3 32bit server
Connecting to an Oracle 10g server
Loaded OracleClient 10g

I'm able to ping the Oracle Server, and ODBC connect and able to run an open query with a single remote user id.

Issue: When I use the security context "Be made using this security context" it connects.
When I choose the "Not Be Made" WITH THE SAME USER ID & PASSWORD, I get the mapping error.
