Urgent: SQL Server Project Can Only Refer to another SQL Server Project

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I just created a SQL Server Project in VS 2008.
I am doing this because I want to call a .net assembly to perform a complicated calculation.
My calculation function resides in my business logic dll.

Why I can't add the reference of my business logic dll in the sql server project?  Am i doing something wrong?

It is very ridiculous if I cannot reference my business logic dll in sql server assembly.  Because business logic is NOT implmented in a so called 'SQL Server Project' and if I want to use that logic through a CLR assembly, there is no way I can think of.

Why is this limitation?  Is there any workaround?

Do I REALLY have to create a 'SQL Server Project'? What if I just create regular class library project and try to add to sql server, will that work?

Please advice, it is really urgent.

calling a web service on a remote server from a ASPX page (web site project VS2005)

HI,I am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder.  When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile. The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for  the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps? Thanks in advance.-me

Problem create a web application on SharePoint 2007 (Project Server 2007)

I installed a Project Server 2007 in a 3 server structure (all Win 2003 sp2; one for App server hosting Central Admin, Project Server service & Search service; one for web server; one for database server).  They are only in the same domain and I use the same network account for the installation as well as the WSS service account.  The same network are local admin for those 3 servers. All installation & patches seem ok (at least I don't get error messages) until I attempt to create my first Web Application.  After I filled out the web appliction and try to click OK, the page does not change and i saw the java error at the right bottom corner from my IE browser (version 6). The message is .... Visual Studio 2008 Asp.net Development Server Launches When use local IIS is project option

I have a visual studio 2008 asp.net MVC webapp project.  The project is set to use local IIS WebServer. When I run without debugging, it runs just fine.  However when i run with debugging Visual studio launches the Asp.net Development Server on top of IIS.  I would not care if it wasnt for the fact that any time i make a web request to the MVC Site it seems to be creating duplicate requests resulting in a very painful debugging experience. Thanks,Giovanni

Cannot create Team Foundation Server project: report server not initialized.

(TFS 2008, SQL 2005, SharePoint 2007) OK.  So the Report Server isn't initialized.  I get that. I open Report Configuration and Initialization is grayed out.  I look at SharePoint Integration and it tells me to create a database that can be integrated with SharePoint.  No problem. Go to Database Connection and try to Upgrade - can't do that unless I create a new database.  Select Change...it tells me it would be happy to change out of native mode but will have to create a new database....great, since that's what I want to do anyway.  Yes.  Using Current User credentials (signed on as domain administrator) I enter a db name check the sharepoint integration box and hit OK.....I have a new database in SharePoint integrated mode.  SharePoint Integration is green BUT Initialization is still grayed out and I still can't create a new TFS project. What do I do now????

Can't add ASPNETDB.MDF to ASP.NET 4 Web Site project [SQL Server 2008 R2 Express]

I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and try to add ASPNETDB.mdf database to my web site project. However, the following message appears: "Connections to SQL Server database files (.mdf) require SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server 2008 Express to be installed and running on the local computer. The current version of SQL Server Express can be downloaded at the following URL: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=125883". In spite of this message, however, database appears in App_Data folder. What is wrong?

Any negative impact to Sharepoint and Project Server if IP for backend database server is changed.

If IP address of the backend database server will be changed for sharepoint 2007 and project server 2007, will it impact any way  both the servers.

Project Server Services remains in Starting status

When trying to start the Project Server service, the service remains in Starting status.

I've tried to stop and restart the service on the server that I want to run and this doesn't help.

These are the services that I see on the server:

Microsoft Project Server Events Service 2010

Microsoft Project Server Queue Service 2010

I'm on SP2010 14.0.5123.5000 (August CU).

This is preventing me from accessing the service to configure and provision my Project Server site.

Visual Studio Project Properties Customer Web Server option is Disabled

Hello All,

Can you please help me out to figure out the problem ?

I am not able to debug  ASP.Net applications on my localhost. What could be the reason.

When I checke project properties (for all my asp.net websites) i observered that the "Use Custom Web Server" option is disabled for all websites.

Any guesses what could be the reason. I am using Windows Xp SP 3 and have IIS installed on my computer. The issue was not there couple of days ago, but started creating problem since last night.

Thanks in advance.

Report Server project in VS2008 and VS2010

Cannot connect to ASP.NET development server after closing the server and restarting the project

I'm getting "Cannot connect to ASP.NET development server" almost every time I stop the ASP.NET server before restarting the project in debug mode. It can take between 15 seconds and 2 minutes to get the error message, and Visual Studio is frozen.

Sometimes I get three in a row, and I have to wait 2 minutes each time, or go into Task Manager and kill to process. Then I have to start Visual Studio 2010 again, which is at least three times slower than Visual Studio 2008 to open.

It's *extremely* annoying. I know I don't have to close the server if the code has changed, but sometimes I simply want to restart my website in debug mode (there is a cache on most web service calls, so this clears the cache). A workaround is to add "foo" code to a class and restart the project.

I'm running Visual Studio 2010 Professional on Windows Server 2008. I'm running the Visual Studio Power Tools too, with the latest update.

Thanks for any help about this.

SharePoint / Project Server 2010 Unable to edit a HTTPS site in SharePoint designer 32 bit

I posted this thread below under a different forum and was requested to move.  Below is our current problem and the feedback that was given.

We currently have a project server 2010 site with several workspaces associated with it.  When trying to edit the site (either from choosing edit is designer from the site actions or from trying to open from within the designer) a dialog appears asking to choose a certificate for the site.domain.com.

The certificate issued by the site is a GeoTrust certificate and checks ok when browsing the site in IE.  This Windows security dialog also appears when trying to export to excel on the same site.

Any thoughts to what we are missing?

Why I can't install Project Server 2010 on my SharePoint 2010 Server?

I recently installed on my server SharePoint 2010, SQL Server 2008 is on another box and all seems to work fine, except that when I try to install Project Server 2010 it keeps telling me that I need ton install SP 2010.

I already checked that the required edition of SP is the Enterprise, as far as I remember that is the edition I activated because I used the Product Key for the  "SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites Enterprise", but to double check this (and correct it if I am wrong I went to the 'Convert License Type' page and not only it does NOT show what my current license is (information is empty), but also the box to type a new Key is disabled, so I am not allowed to try to change the one used.

Can anybody tell me what is going wrong?
