Can edit in Datasheet View

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a user in my site collection who cannot edit a list in Datasheet view. When he tries to make an edit he gets the following error:

"The Web application at filepath.aspx?ShowInGrid=TrueView={long ID number} could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly.  If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application."

Other site Members with access to this list do not experienced this behavior.  Can anyone advise me what to look for?

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Edit in Datasheet view does not work on one SharePoint 2007 farm, works on another.

The ability to edit in datasheet view on one of our environments no longer works.  I've tried different client machines on different builds and regardless of the install every library, list, etc. when attempting to edit in datasheet view shows as read only.  Our other environments those systems work as intended with those same clients. I've searched all over and haven't found anything that helped.  Any ideas?

Edit in Datasheet View on List is not working

I have a list with simple column types like single line of text, Number, Hyperlink,  Picture, choice. When i edit the list in datasheet-view, below error is getting displayed. An unexpected error has occured. Changes to your data cannot be saved. For this error, you can retry or discard your changes. This error is occuring on edit certain rows/columns only. The view is having a simple filter condition. Could anyone check and suggest a solution/workaround for this ? Thanks in advance.

Unable to edit in Datasheet View

Myself and several other users try to edit cells in a datasheet view and often get the error:  "Edit control creation has failed. You cannot edit cells".  This is an intermittent problem. We are all running Windows7 and Office 2007. Any ideas what causes this?

Edit a Microsoft InfoPath Form in SharePoint Datasheet view

Hello- I created a form in Microsoft InfoPath 2003 then published the form in Microsoft SharePoint 2007. I then populated the form with test data and submitted it. I would like to know if the "Edit in Datasheet" under Actions will allow me to edit a submitted Microsoft InfoPath form in SharePoint.  I have administrative rights to the SharePoint site however when I review my sample submission in datasheet view, it indicates in the right corner, "Read Only. Am I doing something wrong or is there no capability to "Edit in Datasheet" for 2003 InfoPath forms?  I have used both SharePoint and InfoPath for a few years but am no expert by any means.  Is there a simple solution to this question?  Will progamming be involved?  If so, is there a link available to walk me through the process.  The key is that individuals must be able to edit their submitted form using a datasheet view.  If the end user makes any changes within the datasheet view, those changes should also update the original form that was populated.

Datasheet view lookup column issue

When a column that has a lookup is empty in datasheet view and I attempt to update a different column I get this message: the text entered for isn't an item from the list. select an item from the list, or enter text that matches one of the listed items.

I found this hotfix, but it did not apply.

Any ideas how to get this resolved?

Cannot edit datasheet in WSS 3.0. Getting Unresolved errors.

I have two users who cannot edit in a datasheet view in SharePoint 3.0. I have tried reinstalling Office and IE. To no avail, this is becoming a big problem. All my other 40 users can edit just fine. I do not want to resort to reimaging the machines. I would rather fix the problem and document. Logged into the users machine, they cannot edit and when I login, I cannot edit. But if they log into my machine, they can edit. Any help would be appreciated.

SharePoint 2010 datasheet view 64 bit vs 32 bit

I think that the Windows 7 64 bit I have is causing problems between My Office Suite (32 bit) and my IE 8 is (64 bit). I am not able to edit in datasheet view and my upload multiple documents is greyed out? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Can Managed Metadata columns be edited in the DataSheet View of a Library or List?

Hi, I like to mass set document properties in a library using DataSheet View, the properties are columns based on Managed MetaData values. When I open the doc library in Datasheet view, those columns become read-only. I made sure the library does not require 'Check Out' and also tested it in other views then the AllItems view. Can someone confirm what is the expected functionality and or if there is a bug?

I came across this other post which suggests that functionality is not available ? pls someone confirm. Mass-editing metadata when documents are uploaded (individually or in bulk) to MOSS 2010

How to properly configure permissions so users can view, add, edit, and delete list items, but not w

I am trying to figure out how to properly setup security so that it can be configured at the top-level, and then inherited all the way through. Here is what I would like to do: Each user can view, add, edit, and delete list items - but, users cannot modify or delete web part pages. The only way I know how to do this is set Contribute from the top-down, and then go into each Site Pages library and set Read access. The problem is that I have 100 sites, and I was hoping there was a way I could set security at the top, and inherit downward. Rather than having to go into all 100 Site Pages library and set Read access. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Update Datasheet View with Blackberry?

Has anyone seen a Blackberry update a SharePoint List in Datasheet View? I know I can update a SharePoint list in Standard View, but need to be able to update in datasheet view.

Unable to edit in datasheet - WSS 3.0

When I try to edit a list in datasheet view I receive the following error: The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled. This worked as of 2 or 3 weeks ago ( I do not remember the last time I tried it), and I cannot think of anything that has really changed locally or on the server. Other users have no issues. I have office 2003 with the SP parts installed. It is in my trusted site list and security is set to custom off a low template. All activeX controls are set to "allow" for the zone. I am also running IE 7 and SharePoint designer 2007, but both of these have been while it was working. Could a Windows or Office update have caused the problem? Any ideas?

Add subform to New, Edit, and View forms

I have two lists with related information: Projects and Tasks. I would like to edit the NewForm, EditForm, and ViewForm for the Projects list so that users can add, change, and view related tasks in a datasheet subform. I know how to do this in Access forms, but it seems there is no easy way to accomplish something similar using SharePoint lists and the SharePoint Designer. I have seen other posts, listed below. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/onlineservicessharepoint/thread/f803ee36-8853-4a73-8d10-1fc687a37781 This is not very helpful, for users would have to be jumping from one list to another and manually creating the relationships between projects and tasks. That is cumbersome. http://geekswithblogs.net/SoYouKnow/archive/2008/12/24/creating-a-sharepoint-list-parent--child-relationship---out.aspx This relates to what I need, but I guess there is something wrong with the steps, as I cannot get the parent form to set parameters for the subform. Has anybody been able to accomplish this?

WSS and MOSS Datasheet view people and groups bug or limitation

I need help trying to work around a limitation with the datasheet view with a list in sharepoint WSS and MOSS.  I need to figure out how to fix the people and group lookup fields so it will not corrupt my data. Currently  the data filters for this type of group does not work.  I have listed the steps below on how to recreate my issue:1. Create a sharepoint group called DELETEMETEST  > add a user to that group2. Create a new list3. Create a column in the list called DELETEMEPEOPLE > Select people only > Choose From DELETEMETEST Group4. Finish creating the list5. Create item in the list    * Notice that if you search for users in DELETEMEPEOPLE it will only show the users assigned to the group.6. Finish creating the record.Back at the listActions > Edit in DatasheetNotice that the DELETEMEPEOPLE now no longer has any filters, and you can add people outside of the DELETEMETEST Group. What are the possible solutions to working around this issue?1. Setting a bit flag on the SPField - Didn't see one that only worked for the datasheet.    2. You could make a custom field type of people and groups and that would make it read only in the datasheet, but isn't that a lot of work for something that is already created? Thanks for any advice....Ivan
