We are using MOSS 2007 with InfoPath Form Services and receive this error in our event log when trying to submit a form.  We increased the Maximum size of form session state to 16384 and continue to get this error message on large forms.  We are not allowing attachments.  We are running MOSS 2007 version 12.0.0.6335.

MOSS 2007 Discussion Board reply error

Created a standard webpart Discussion Board and can add discussion items OK but when tried to reply to item got error 'The page cannot be displayed'. After several attempts eventually worked when the item description was only 4 characters or less. looking at the response URL it appears to be excessively long, some elements seem to be repeated in the URL string e.g. https://xx.xxxxxxx.com/theworks/OandR/TDMBE/Lists/Discussion%20Board/NewForm.aspx?RootFolder=%2ftheworks%2fOandR%2fTDMBE%2fLists%2fDiscussion%20Board%2fhave%20consultants%20got%20enough%20supplies&ContentTypeId=0x0107&DiscussionParentID=2&Source=https%3A%2F%2Fxx%2Exxxxxxx%2Ecom%2Ftheworks%2FOandR%2FTDMBE%2FLists%2FDiscussion%2520Board%2FFlat%2Easpx%3FRootFolder%3D%252ftheworks%252fOandR%252fTDMBE%252fLists%252fDiscussion%2520Board%252fhave%2520consultants%2520got%2520enough%2520supplies%26FolderCTID%3D0x01200200A1C51FB6047510439F93B774F153C4CB%26TopicsView%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fxx%252Exxxxxxx%252Ecom%252Ftheworks%252FOandR%252FTDMBE%252FLists%252FDiscussion%252520Board%252FAllItems%252Easpx   Does this suggest that the URL length is the root of the issue. The users are using IE6 also. If i connect directly onto one of the front end web servers and try to do a reply then it works as expected and response URL is much shorter i.e.   http://servername/theworks/OandR/TDMBE/Lists/Discussion%20Boar

MOSS 2007 Content Deployment Error

I have trouble with a staging environment that I recently set up.  I went through the error logs and finally got the staging environment functioning without errors, but previous to working through those errors, we successfully made a content deployment path and job and ran it.  Now, the Destination central Admin is giving permissions issues.  I changed and restarted some services and some component services..  Are there any specific things I should check related specifically to content deployment as far as services on the server?

Either the URL for the destination Web application is not valid, or you do not have permissions to the Central Administration site on the destination server farm.

Error details: The remote Web service request failed with this message : 'Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.'.

There has been an error while loading the form - The following file is not a valid InfoPath form tem

Hi,

We’re experiencing quite an odd issue with opening forms within a SharePoint form library. These are the symptoms;

We recently published a newer version of an InfoPath form, and have since received some feedback that the form no longer opens in the “View Properties” view of SharePoint.

Rather interesting though, within the standard view all form instances can be opened with no problem.

The reason this has to work within the “View Properties” view of SharePoint is because we have a workflow that is sent, with a link to this particular page.

This is the error message that is displayed;

MOSS 2007 - Error Code 500 after click on Ok button on a post reply with an accent charactere in the

Hi,

I have this strange behavior in my test and prod environment but not in my Dev.

The case is as following:

  1. Someone create in a discssion list a topic with an accent charactere in the title.
  2. Someone else click on the reply button. then he write the post.
  3. Then he click on the Ok button and a code error 500 page is loaded.

In the same discussion list If the title of the topic does'nt contain any accent charactere it works well !

Regional settings of the site collection are strictly identical on Dev, test and pro environment.

Does someone have any Idea ?

Thanks in advance for your answers

Workflow with instantiation form in VS 2008 for MOSS 2007

Guys. I have a MOSS 2007 install, using VS 2008.

I am trying to create a workflow in VS that simply does the following:

On Start, goes to an instantiation form. This collects one field of data. When this is submitted, the workflow updates a couple of fields, then finished. Sounds easy huh.... It sure is in SPD, but in VS it isn't so easy. I am also following Robert Shelton's blogs on this (if you have seen them).

So I have my workflow project, and for the pages, am putting them in their own folder  in the LAYOUTS within 12 hive.

I am getting an error of

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at InstantiationForm_InstantiationForm.serializeInstantiationFormDataToXML() , but I can't debug it (even when attaching to W3WP.exe).

My aspx page code:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"
     CodeFile="InstantiationForm.aspx.cs&q

MOSS 2007 SP 2 upgrade error

Following installation of WSS3 and MOSS2007 SP2 upgrade and during the PSCONFIG tool, at step 8 of 9, I get the below.

Failed to start service SPSearchServiceInstance on this server after completing upgrade. Please start it manual

The search service is set to disabled, so I change it to automatic and the service starts straight away. I let the the PSCONFIG tool sit there and a couple of minutes later, it makes it till the end and states that it failed to upgrade SharePoint Products and Technologies. I have restarted the server and re-run the psconfig. It runs through ok but still reports that it failed to upgrade.

I have another WFE that isn't servicing clients but has the web applications and search role on it, which doesn't currently have the SP2 binaries. Could that be causing the problem?

I get the below section in the upgrade log.

[SPManager] [DEBUG] [10/6/2010 8:44:17 AM]: [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPIisWebSite] Running 1 of 8 steps

Infopath 2007 form error - Selected file is too large

We are using Inforpath form to capture some metadata along with couple of file attachments. We implemented that and its working fine

When we tested by trying to upload file more than 5 MB we got the following error

"The selected file is too large and is causing the form to exceed the amount of allowable resources. Select Another File"

During its analysis we found that this can be resolved by changing one of the "Infopath forms service " configuration named "Maximum size of form session state".

Is there any issue (like performance issues) in increasing this limit to allow us to upload the large attachment

In other words

In the Maximum size of form session state text box, type the maximum session state size in kilobytes. Form-filling sessions that exceed this value will terminate, an error message will be generated, and all form data entered during the session will be lost. The default value is 4096 kilobytes.

If I make this value to 10240 kilobytes (10 MB) ; will this cause any performance issues ??

MOSS 2007 Single Sign on Error

I turned on Single Sign on Service on  MOSS 2007 Server.  In my environment, I have medium server farm with 2 front-end web servers, App server, index server and cluster SQL backend.

When I tried to configure single sign on, I got this error

"The sql server specified is either invalid or is an unsupported version"

Under the server name, I entered SQL Cluster name instead of the SQL Server name because my SQL server is set up as cluster.

Have anyone sucessfully set up SSO on MOSS 2007?

Thanks,

Thusinh
