The ObjectContext instance has been disposed...." error

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hello everyone,

I use a static method to execute a query. this method returns an IQueryable object which then is passed as DataSource to a GridView.

the query executes successfully, but as soon as the method returns, the object is empty and states "The ObjectContext instance has been disposed and can no longer be used for operations that require a connection."

var result = Query.buildDataSourceImpianto(qString, depth);

query method:

public static IQueryable buildDataSourceImpianto(long impianto, int nodeDepth)
{
// recupera info necessarie
long aC = Query.anagraficaConduttoreImpianto(impianto);
long aP = Query.anagraficaProprietarioImpianto(impianto);
long aM = Query.anagraficaManutentoreImpianto(impianto);
string NomeUser = Query.userCreatore(impianto)[0];
string CogUser = Query.userCreatore(impianto)[1];

using (astDB_NewEntities db = new astDB_NewEntities())
{
try
{
IQueryable<impianti> outer = db.impianti;
IQueryable<immobili> inner = db.immobili;
var result = out

Activation error occured while trying to get instance of type Database, key "DBName"

Im using Enterprise library 5.0
I have a scenario, where I have to access two different databases in my application.

Basically this application is a webservice,delployed on my local for testing purpose.
I'm trying to access this web method from diffent windows application, default connection works fine but the other database throw's exception.

Problem is only my defaultDatabase is works fine, if I change defaultDatabase="MYCON1" with "MYCON2" it works fine, if I try to access the other database which is not default, throws exception.

<dataConfiguration defaultDatabase="MYCON1" />
<connectionStrings>
<add name="MYCON1" connectionString="Data Source=server1;Initial Catalog=dbName1;User Id=Username1;Password=password1;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient

" />
<add name="MYCON2" connectionString="Data Source=Server2;Initial Catalog=dbName2;User Id=Username2;Password=password2;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

Database myDB=EnterpriseLibraryContainer.Current.GetInstance<Database>(); --> works fine for the default database (MYCON1)

Database myDB=EnterpriseLibraryCo

Error "user does not have permission to perform this operation" with User Instance = True.

I setup SQL Server 2005 / SQL Express. All works fine in SQL Server 2005.

I am connecting to a SQL Database from VS 2005,  Tools/Connect to Database. I set the Data Source to "Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient)" (meaning SQL Server Express) and User Instance = True, and Integrated Security = True.

The above is working successfully on all machines except my Laptop. On my Laptop, I am getting this error "user does not have permission to perform this operation". On my Laptop, if I change User Instance = False, it works fine. Also, If I connect to SQL Server 2005 it works fine only if User Instance = False.

I tried all kind of security changes, nothing worked. For example, I setup Everyone as Full Control for the Folder and the MDF File of SQL Server. I gave my user ID as sysadmin role in SQL Server Express. Also, I enabled creating User Instance form SQL Server Express, Nothing is working.

Appreciate your help.

Tarek.

Hi, I encountered the below listed error while attempting to deploy SSAS 2008 DB: Error 1 OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Login timeout expired; HYT00; A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Here are the steps I have taken but yet the issue is not resolve: 1) Enable Remote connections on the server 2) Enable TCP\IP 3) SQL Browser is Running 4) Set Firewall Inbound Exceptions for SQL Browser, Default Port 1433, UDP Port 1434 5) Using Management Studio I can successfully connect to the MSSQL named instance from the app server 6) I can ping I MSSQL box from the app server 7) Read and implemented all steps in the MSDN post below: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx Thanks for your help.

I am using Windows Authentication mode in SQL Server Express. I am already added to the Administrator Group locally on my Laptop. Still same problem. Checked this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms254504.aspx, same problem. I enabled User Instances and also tried to Disable User Instances. When I disable user instances, and then try to connect from VS, I get a different error, which is asking to enable user instances.
