Looking for client side only jquery framework

Anyone have any suggestions for 3rd party controls that work entirely client side?

By this I mean the following using the example of an invoice:

An invoice is a master, with children.

I have to be able to select properties on the invoice and add lines to the invoice via a grid to obviously have the customer like my invoice editing window because they don't want to have to enter the basics and then save and then add the line items.

In a classic asp.net/mvc.net model the server does the processing. This requires that you either store your data objects in the view state (in this case EF) or you store it in the session.

Neither scales worth crap.

What I'm looking to do is be able to create an entire form that interacts in javascript using jquery and never posts back to the server to be persistant. It may pull data from the server to update lists and do lookups etc. but it will never have to have the server hold information to be persistant while it's being built (and thus only when the user clicks save will it actually post the data back.

In a perfect world what would happen is that the EF object would be converted to javascript and then used and bound, and updated. Once I'm done I'd post back the javascript object and it would be automatically converted to the EF equivalent class which I could then attach and save to

Use jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX to build a client side Repeater

By sending only data to the client, you can profoundly reduce the size of what you send and see a substantial increase in performance. You also allow yourself the ability to easily add features like light-weight sorting and paging on the client. This can not only improve your users' experience, but reduce server load and bandwidth requirements.

Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Getting some errors after implementing the calendar control.  Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.  Here are some screenshots of the relevant info:   Here's the scenario...  I compile code locally, view the pages in a browser locally, and it all works fine.  Another developer sits down at my machine, logs in with AD account (which create a local profile for his account on my machine), and gets these errors when viewing my locally compiled code.  He then compiles the same code on my machine again just for a test, but still gets the same errors.  Can anyone come up with any good reasons for this behavior?  I put a call into MS and they suggested creating a new profile for the other developer with the errors since this appeared to be profile specific.  Tried doing that with the same results.  Help!

After enabling routing, get 'Ajax client-side framework failed to load"

Hopefully someone's come across this before... After I try using routing on my web form & load my page I get a few javascript errors one after the other: Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.Error: 'Type' is undefinedError: 'Sys' is undefinedError: Object expectedError: 'Sys' is undefined   After fooling with this for awhile, I created a blank aspx page. It loaded fine. I drop a scriptmanager on the page & the errors above pop up. I've been using ajax controls up until this point, & they work just fine when I comment out my routing code so I know the toolkit is not corrupt. Its gotta be a config issue...just not sure where to go. It's a .net 4 web app on IIS7   Here's the code I added to my global.asax:void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)        {            routes.MapPageRoute("PageRouting","{department}","~/Subweb.aspx");        }protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)        {            RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);        }   In my web.config I added the assembly: &

Client Side Validation with jQuery

I have used client side validation with Ajax before.  Now I need to do client side validation with jQuery.

I am referencing jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery.validation version 1.7.

I have added <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> to the view.

I have added Html.TextBoxFor and Html.ValidationMessageFor to the view.

Client side validation still does not work.

If I understand correctly, I also need to include MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js.  This file was not installed with VS 2010 ultimate.  I have heard that it is available on the Futures project, but the links to the site are broken.

Do I need MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js to make client side validation work?

If so, where do I find the current version of MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation?  Why isn't it readily available for download or included with VS 2010?

If not, what do I do next to get client side validation to work?

I know that I could manually add calls to jQuery validation, but that is far from ideal - especially since the Ajax v

Client Side Filtering Using Jquery

Hi. I would like to filter a DVWP using client side filtering.  Here is what I have done so far:  I wrapped the entire DVWP inside a div tag.

<div id='filters'>

 This code will hide the DVWP:

var $fil = $('#filters'); $fil.hide();

Using a jquery filter function, I tried to effect certain items that met the criteria.  This does not work:

 $(fil).filter(function(index) { return $('@ID', this).val == 2; }).css('background-color', 'red');

Is there another element I can reference to see if the ID is equal to 2. Once I find a match, I'll want to hide that item. Thanks.

error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Hi all,

I m getting this weird error "ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load." in my project which none of my other team mates are getting. Even I tuk the solutoin from the TFS so there is no chances of a code error any where because we all have downloaded the code from the same place in TFS.

N there shud not b anything wrong with the client browser also on my machine because i can browse the same page from the dev server perfectly. Its just breaking only when i m browsing that page on localhost.

We are using .net framework 4.0, windows 7 and we have AjaxControlToolkit version 1.0 in our project.

the only things which might differ in my case as compared to other machine and server are

- Virtual directory.

ASP.NET AJAX client-side framework failed to load

hi,

I run a asp.net 4.0 website. (I did the porting from version 3.5 to 4.0)

I receive the following error :

ASP.NET AJAX client-side framework failed to load

in a page where I set scriptmanager EnableCdn="true" and there is a microsoft ajax extension Timer on the page.

this is the code:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="true">
    </asp:ScriptManager>
<script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

If I set EnableCdn="false" and refer to js locally es:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="false">
    </asp:ScriptManager>
<script src="../../jsScript/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

All works fine!

I receive the error only on the production server.

ASP.NET ajax client-side framework failed to load... yet again

Hey Guys.

I'm having this issue with AJAX framework... Yes, I know, few solutions are roaming around but none seems to help me...

especially since the problem occurs on bunch of computers in my library...

On any other computer, the Ajax framework loads just fine with all it's controls... But for some reason I get this "ASP.NET ajax framework failed to load" accompanied by another "sys is undefined" error.

I'm using VS 2008 with AJAX toolkit extender installed, and I'm out of ideas :-? I must get this thing working, and I'm really baffled since it's working on most of the computers but not on these ones. So, maybe other browsers overlook this problem that I'm having but the browsers in these computers don't?

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks ahead,

GG

Notify jquery from server (trigger an asynchronous client side event from the server).

Hello,

I want to have a code that would establish connection from the server to the jQuery client, to update the front page of the website, when some new data is added to the DB. I of course could have an ajax call from the client on every second to check up the database for any changes, but I am just wondering if there is any way to establish a connection from the server side to the client.

The perfect solution would work like that:

- when the page is open, the client registers itself on the server for changes

- the server (knowing all the registered clients) prompts all of them when a change is done

- if any of the clients does not respond, the server removes the client from the registered list

- clients, update the page contents with the new data from the server

The question is if it is possible? Again, I could make all the clients reconnect to the server every second using ajax, however, this does not seem like a clean solution, and additionally it would put an unnecessary load on the server (e.q. 100 clients requesting update every second).

Thanks in advance,

Jozef A. Habdank
