Delete Data Collector Jobs

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have a server on which I enabled the 3 build-in collector sets using the UI. When I disable the Collector Sets and the Data Collection the SQL Server Agent jobs are not deleted and I cannot manually delete those due to a foreign key constraint error? Also the SSIS packages are not deleted?

So how to I cleanup these Jobs and SSIS packages after disabling Data Collection in the UI?

Thanks.

Data Collector - SQL Server Waits Report

In the Data Collector SQL Server Waits Report, in both the graph and table reports, there is a Wait Time measurement and it shows (ms/sec).  What exactly does that mean?  I see that it carries out to 3 digits, so does that mean it measures down to the millisecond?  Any help would be appreciated, I can't seem to find a definition.

Design Data Contract for User Create/Update/Delete REST API using WCF 3.5 & JSON

Hi,

I'm using REST with WCF .NET 3.5. I've design the class structure with below JSON struvture of input & output.

API 1: Create User: POST /id & request body is as shown below:

       "name" : "<name>",

SQL Server 2008 R2 Data Collector for multiple servers.

Hello all,

I'm working as a intern and have been maintaining a performance monitoring application for my companies servers and wanted to know if "Performance Data Collector" could do the job for us(and that I've spent the last month working on...) I ran across an article(http://www.simple-talk.com/sql/learn-sql-server/sql-server-2008-performance-data-collector/ ) that seemed to describe this tool as pretty much what I've been working on.

Presently we do this:

1. Performance Monitor(perfmon.exe) logs all the performance counters we want and stores them locally on each server.

2. A client service(run on each server we monitor) takes the log files, zips them and periodically transfers them to the logging server.

3. Once on the logging server another service parses the files and bulk uploads them into a SQL Server 2008 R2 Database.

4. A SSAS cube on the logging server then processes all the data and we have our min/max/averages for the various counters.

Can I collect performance data from Windows 2008 servers that do not have SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 installed on them by using the server that is running the collector to pull the information? This would essentially b

Delete or Truncate statement for data purging

Hi,

I am writting a stored procedure to purge data from table every month. There is no constraint on table column except primary key.

I am using 'delete' statement as it records an entry in the transaction log for each deleted row. But it's a slow process compared to 'Truncate' statement.

Can you please suggest what should I choose (Delete or truncate) as per best practice.

Thanks

Sandy

delete from one table if a combination of data doesn't exist in another

this will work, but i am 100% certain there's a more efficient way:

create table stgClients(intClientId int, status1 varchar(50), status2 varchar(50), status3 varchar(50))

create table lkpClientStatus(intStatusId int, vchStatusCode varchar(50), bitDeleted bit)

create table trefClientsStatus(intClientId, intStatusId)

DELETE FROM trefClientsStatus WHERE cast(intClientId as varchar(10)) + '|' + CAST(intStatusId as varchar(10)) NOT IN
SELECT cast(a.intClientId as varchar(10)) + '|' + CAST(a.intStatusId as varchar(10)) FROM
(SELECT DISTINCT sc1.intClientId, cs1.intStatusId
FROM stgClients sc1 INNER JOIN lkpClientStatuses cs1 ON (LTRIM(RTRIM(sc1.status1)) = cs1.vchStatusCode AND cs1.bitDeleted = 0)
WHERE NULLIF(LTRIM(RTRIM(sc1.status1)), '') is not null
UNION
SELECT DISTINCT sc2.intClientId, cs2.intStatusId
FROM stgClients sc2 INNER JOIN lkpClientStatuses cs2 ON (LTRIM(RTRIM(sc2.status2)) = cs2.vchStatusCode AND cs2.bitDeleted = 0)
WHERE NULLIF(LTRIM(RTRIM(sc2.status2)), '') is not null
UNION
SELECT DISTINCT sc3.intClientId, cs3.intStatusId
FROM stgClients sc3 INNER JOIN lkpClientStatuses cs3 ON (LTRIM(RTRIM(sc3.status3)) = cs3.vchStatusCode AND cs3.bitDeleted = 0)
WHERE NULLIF(LTRIM(RTRIM(sc3.status3)), '') is not null) a

Display data from two lists in a single Data View - how to edit/delete/view items?

I have an aggregate dataview from two lists. (something like this http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/display-data-from-multiple-sources-in-a-single-data-view-HA010099144.aspx#BM3)

The problem is, that when I click on "Data view properties", the options in Editing tab (edit link, delete link and view link) are greyed out.

I'd like to create custom delete/edit/view link for rows in that dataview with linked source. Any idea?
