SSRS 2005 Reports - delay in reports execution

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

When selecting a report to run from the selection list intermittantly we see a significant delay (>1 min) between when the white screen is displayed and the indicator that the report is being generated (spinning green circle) is displayed. The reports eventually run, but the delay before the green 'processing' circle appears does resembles the other lock-up scenerios. The problem is intermittant and seems to appear more frequently in the morning when the first report of the day is run. Subsequent attempts to run a report do not have the same delay.

Loading the report seems to stall when loading particular items.  Please advise hot ot handle this.

We have a report subscription that emails out through a 3rd / separate smtp server.

It sends out around 500 emails and email 475 of 500 was still on screen after a few minutes (it hadn't ticket up to 476, or 479, etc...)

SSRS 2005 Error after uploading new reports

I have been developing reports using BIDS 2005 and deploying them to a report server on my development machine.

These reports can be called succesfully from both the report manager and my asp.net website.

Everything has been working fine.

Some time back some early versions of the reports were deployed to a test server in order that they could be tested away from the development machine. The reports processed successfully.

Today I have uploaded a number of completed reports (using Report Manager) to the test server and am getting an error message for each one when I try to run it direct from Report Manager.

The message is: "An error has occurred during report processing Common Language Rutime detected an invalid program"

I've been trying to resolve this for a few hours now and am getting nowhere. Google has thrown up some finds on the error message but these seem to refer to people having issues with the compilation of large methods or forms with a very high number of controls.

I can't see this being appropriate because most of the reports are relatively simple and the most complex probably has only 100 different controls.

So I'm at a complete standstill and haven't a clue what to try next.

Has anyone come across this issue and if so how did you resolve it?

SSRS 2000 reports when upgraded to 2005 report with subreport really really slow

We recently upgraded a report server and corresponding reports from SQL Server 2000 (reports 2003) to SQL Server 2005. After upgrade one of our reports which use two subreport is very very slow.

The sp's used for these all these reports are fast. All the sp's together takes about 40 secs.

Both in the BIDS environment as well as the report site the report is very slow.

We are using a database in which data is inserted through replicatoin. In all our sp's we have given 'with nolock' along with the table names.

Can anyone please help me here?

SSRS 2005 reports - Parameters slow to take input from user

I have SSRS 2005 reports with two parameters, StartDate and EndDate. When I run the report in the internet explorer, the report takes 30 to 40 seconds to respond to the user control. I mean the calendar picker appears only if I click after 30-40 seconds from the time the report loaded. I'd appreciate your thoughts to resolve this issue.

Issue while migrating reports from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008

We developed reports for SSRS 2005 using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (Visual Studio 2005).

We migrated these reports for SSRS 2008 using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (Visual Studio 2008) by opening the Reports project folder in SSRS 2008.

After migration when the report is ran without any changes made in the design mode we get the correct output.

The issue arises when we try to edit the report in the Design mode. In design mode, it shows only 1 'Tablix Filter' Value and loses the rest of the 'Tablix Filter' values. Specifically, If we try and edit the Tablix properties (In Design mode) all the values in the 'Filters' property disappear.

Data Points: Designing Reports with SQL Server Reporting Services 2005

Many applications require some degree of integration with a reporting tool. A good solution, SQL ServerT Reporting Services 2005, provides Web-based reports and can be integrated into both Windows® Forms and Web-based applications.

Share Point integrated SSRS reports rendering when access from external site

Our client has a SharePoint (moss2007) site on Windows 2008, SQL2008 R2 Enterprise, and Reporting service is integrated with SharePoint

Printing Issue in SSRS reports

Hi,   We developed around 70 ssrs reports for our new application. Its like, all the report names are mentioned in the left hand side and if we click it,.Net calls the SSRS reports and shows in the Right hand side.   The issue now is with the Printing. My client complains that they are not able to print the Reports properly. Some of the columns are moved to the next page,it seems.Reports are having different number of columns and we dont know how to resolve this issue.Should I use Landscape or Portrait?..If I give the table's width in the place of Report's width, will it work?    Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Schedule reports with integrated authentication SSRS 2008

Hi All,  Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....." What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be hones

How to programmatically hide SSRS reports

I've built a process to deploy several reports to SSRS in either native mode or SharePoint integrated mode.  I'd like to programmatically hide several SSRS reports when deploying them to a sharepoint site.  I believe I need to do something like this -  http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1357.  Any pointers?  I'm new to SharePoint development. Thx.

SSRS 2008 SP1 - Enabling "My Reports" allows users delete reports in folders they should not be able

Issue: Users that have “My Reports” SSRS Role assigned to them can delete reports in other “shared” folders. My understanding was that they will be able to do the tasks specified only  in the “My Reports” workspace not everywhere. I have “My Reports” enabled via SSMS. Users have “My Reports” role assigned to them at the root level. My SSRS Role “My Reports” has only the following tasks assigned: 1.       View Reports 2.       Manage reports 3.       View Folders 4.       Manage Folders To test, I'm using Development version of SQL Server 2008 SP1. Thanks in advance, Martina

Where are the 2008 SSRS sample reports?

SSRS 2005 - Share Schdeule Execution Event?

Hi, I have SSRS 2005 and 10 different "Shared Schedules". Those share schedule has subscribed reports in it (i.e 5 reports in each Share Schedule). I would like to know when share schedule start firing execution event, does it execute all reports ONE at a time OR one-by-one like in queue? When I checked SQL Server Agent Job than it has only ONE step in it. Any idea? Thank You...
