How to consume WCF multiple request xml into SSRS?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi All,

I wanted to use following WCF test client request into my SSRS 2008 R2 report. Here, I am getting GetSection_ARequest and inside it another ExternalDataRequest request into the WCF test client, but I don't know how to consume the same request into the SSRS?

Help Passing Multiple Parameters Via a URL in SSRS 2008

Hello Everyone, I'm totally and completely confused as to how to pass multiple paramters through a URL.  Book Online is absolutely no help because they do not offer any examples of passing multiple paramters within a URL.  Instead, I get confused over RENDER and COMMAND and what should be repeated where with each paramter and on and on and on. Here's my URL: javascript:void(window.open('http://sereporting01.wdig.com/ReportServer?%2fDOL%2fTEST%2fDisney+Sell-Through&rs:Command=Render&SiteName=Disney,InsertionType=300 x 250,Context=ROS','_blank','resizable=yes,toolbar=0,menubar=0')) What happens is that JavaScript opens a new window but I get a "Reporting Services Error".  I'm assuming it's because my URL parameters are not correct.  Can someone please just give me the correct syntax so that I can get on with my work? I'm editing this post to add - I'm also confused as to how paramters are supposed to be passed through to a report when default paramters are set up in the report which i'm trying to open with the URL.  Should I remove the default paramaters from the report or...what? Again, BOL offers no help on this issue and it just seems to generate more questions.  Thanks!!

SSRS 2005 WebService Programatic Multiple Parameters?

I am using ssrs webservices with c#. Works great until I try to pass in multiple parameters then I get: "Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'X' is not a valid value." I am at a loss - I have the split function in my stored procedure and can pass in the values like '01/05/2010,01/062010' etc no problems. I have tried wrapping the comma seperated string with single quotes and without, tried adding them as seperate inputs with no luck same response. Report works fine from SSRS interface but not when calling it using web services. Any assistance is greatly appreciated - I have done numerous web searches and found no answers. Below is the c# code snipet: //set up the parameters List<ParameterValue> input = new List<ParameterValue>(); ParameterValue pval = new ParameterValue(); pval.Name = param.Name; pval.Value = "'" + paramsSelected + "'"; input.Add(pval); //call the report service.Render( ReportName, "PDF", null, null, input.ToArray(), null, null, out encoding, out mime, out outParams, out outWarn, out outStreams);

SSRS request handling mechanism

I wanted to know as to how the request for Reports are handled by SSRS in the following scenario. Suppose there is a website which uses SSRS 2005 for reporting. The report viewer control is used to display reports on the web page. Parameters are passes on through code. The processing mode is remote.Q1. How does the communication (to and back) with report server take place? Does it use a web service or something of that sort? Q2. If say a  100 requests come in which chokes up the IIS server, those requests won't be passed on to the report server, while the report server is actually capable of handling that many requests. So it does not help in reducing the load on application server as the request for a report is routed via application server. Is it that way? Q3. what does the file ReportViewerWebControl.axd exactly does? Thanks Sagar

SSRS 2008 Help Setting Up Multiple URLs

I have a new SSRS 2008 installation that currently only has the default URL setup (http://computername:80/Reports).  I am trying to setup a second URL to be accessed by the intranet.  I want it to be a more generic name such as http://finance.  I have tried adding a second host name but when I do that it just says the page is not available.  What do I need to do in order to get this setup?  Do I need a registered domain name?  I have no clue where to start.

SSRS problem with passing multiple parameter values via URL %2c

Hi, I have a problem with passing multiple parameter values from one report (A) to another report (B).   For example I built a URL string in report (A) with the parameters like &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2. As soon as I click on that URL the URL parameters look like &Parameter1=1%2c2 and the parameters don’t getting populated on report (B).   If I change the parameter in the URL to &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2 and execute the URL manual the parameter on report (B) getting populated properly.   Is there a way to disable the coding like %2c (comma) or is there another solution for it?   Thanks

Does Microsoft plan to enhance SSRS to allow access to multiple data sources?

We have the need to join multiple data sources into one table in SSRS.  At present, as I understand it, this is not a part of current delivered functionality.  We get around it by creating links withing the source database to access other databases.  The links themselves have their own set of constraints and performance issues. The other option is to use sub reports.  It would be nice to be able to define connections to disparate databases to join data from multiple data sources.  Does Microsoft have plans to deliver such functionality in an upcoming release of the SSRS product?

Cannot get distinct records from a multiple inner join request

Hello everybody,

This is my first post here because this request is giving me serious headache.

What I'm trying to do : This is a small search engine. I ask SQL Server 2008 to return the 20 records I need in a specific page from a larger set of 1000 records. Then I want it to return only distinct records on the key t_ye.numenr (VID).

This returns doubled or tripled records. What am I doing wrong ?

declare @explicitMaximum int <br/>
declare @chosenPage int <br/>
declare @recordsPerPage int <br/>
set @explicitMaximum = 1000 <br/>
set @chosenPage = 1 <br/>
set @recordsPerPage =20; <br/>
WITH X AS (<br/>
SELECT DISTINCT TOP(@explicitMaximum) t_ye.numenr AS VID, <br/>

SSRS 2008: Multiple Sub-Reports with conditional visibility in one List control

MainReport: a List containing two Sub-Reports. The data of the List only has two rows. Set the visibility of the sub-report based on the data.

SubReport1: a textbox showing "Sub Report 1"

SubReport2: a textbox showing "Sub Report 2"

I expect to see SubReport1 in Page 1 and SubReport2 in Page 2.

But I only see SubReport1 in Page 1 and Page 2 is a blank page.

These reports work in SSRS 2005, but not in SSRS 2008.

Report Definition:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Report xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner

Multiple Parameters Error OLEDB MS Access SSRS

I have created an SSRS in BIDS 2008 with OLEDB Provider so as to access MS Access 2010 DB. My report is working fine. But the only problem is when am sending multiple parameter it raises error. I have enabled AllowMultiple Value checkbox.

ERROR : "Cannot add multi value parameter '@parametername" for DataSetName because it is not supported by the data extension".

My query is "SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE ([columnname] in (@parametername))"

Thanks in advance

Can't SSRS 2008 handle stored procedures which return multiple tables?

I tried it and it only returns the first table.

Any suggestion?

Thank you,

SSRS Export to Excel Multiple Sheets empty First Row

I have a report with four tables. There are page breaks in between each table (the Insert Page Break After this table option is selected on the first three tables). When I export this report to Excel, there are four sheets with the four tables of data on them. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th sheets all have the first row empty and its height is set to 0 so it looks like rwo 2 is the first one but row 1 is actually hidden. I need this row and would like the data to be populated in the first row and not the second. Has anyone come across this before?

Can we show a line chart on multiple pages with page breaks? SSRS 2008

Hi there,

I am using SSRS 2008. I have a line chart which queries a huge dataset and shows the datapoints really close to each other that the labels and grid-lines are overlapping onto each other. http://oi54.tinypic.com/2vifrb9.jpg

Is there a way to split the chart and show it on different pages.? Thanks in Advance :)

Data driven subscriptions need to use multiple "From" addresses - SSRS 2008

Is it possible to create a data driven subscription that supplies the from address based on which brand of my company is sending out the email? Or even if I'm representing a single brand, I need to use different email addresses such as customerservice or accounting or system.admin, etc. This cannot be a rare situation, what do all of you do to address this concern? Am I missing something obvious?

SSRS: Printing multiple values within one cell on a single row

Hi I'm new to SSRS and SQL in general.  I'm trying to publish a report that is easy to read, but I end up printing rows that are largely redundant. Consider the following tables:

Table 1: PersonID; Name; Age

1, Tom, 88
2, Stacey, 16

Table 2: PersonID; Color

1, Blue
1, Red
1, Green
2, Jade

I would like a report that prints something like this:

SSRS 2005: ReportServer: Listen on Multiple Domains and ReportBuilder 1.0

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 - and joined my workstations to our production domain.

I have 2 SSRS 2005 environments: one for test and one for prod.

The prod SSRS instance is joined to the same domain as my workstation (ie. production.domain)

However, my SSRs 2005 test instance is joined to a test domain (i.e. test.domain)

i have my SSRS ReportServer configured to use "Integrated Authentication"  In Production, this works great.

In test environment, when I launch reportbuilder, ReportBuilder automatically detects my workstation domain (production.domain) so when it loads and tries to connect to TEST envrionemtn, it tells me I have no access.

The only way to make it work seems to go to my Test Environment server and add my production.domain\USERID to the Administrators Group.  However, i can't do this for every ReporBuilder 1.0 user.

Can ReportBuilder 1.0 or ReportServer SSRS 2005 be configured to listen and authenticate against two domains? my production and test ones?

Multiple reports straight to pdf (SSRS 2008)

Hello, I have successfully written code to generate a server report straight to a pdf document. I did this using Report.Render(...) and then writing the result with Response.BinaryWrite. This works fine. The thing I would like to do now is this: On the webpage the user sees a tree with about 20-30 reports on it. I would like the user be able to select which reports he wants to see (using the tree check boxes) and then when he hits print one pdf document is generated with all the selected reports on it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Display an SSRS Report in multiple (user's) regional settings

I have an SSRS Report that I've developed that returns date values. I have users that will access this report globally, and I would prefer that the report return these dates in the format tied to their regional settings.

I have set the RDL Language property to the expression =User!Language. this works on my local development environment.

Then I published to my ReportServer (MOSS 2007). Now no matter what regional settings my PC is tied to, both the report paramters and date format display in whatever Regional setting my SharePoint site is set to.

Is there a way that I can dynamically display the report using the User's regional settings?
