In SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services you'll find new algorithms, enhancements to existing algorithms, and more than a dozen added visualizations to help you get a handle on your data relationships. Plus, enhancements to the Data Mining Extensions to SQL along with OLAP, DTS, and Reporting Services integration make it possible to create a new breed of intelligent apps with embedded data mining technology. Here the author explains it all.

Many organizations analyze their business-critical data using Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) technology. OLAP-based data mining provides a way to query multidimensional data sets and drill down into the data to find patterns. ASP.NET and the Microsoft Office Web Components (OWC) enable Web-based OLAP reporting. The OWC controls include PivotTable and Chart components that can be embedded in a Web page and scripted by programmers. In this article, the authors build a Web-based OLAP reporting app using ASP.NET, OWC, and SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services to illustrate the process.

I get the following error when this perl script tries to backup the database using ASCMD.exe 2008 command line tool
<return xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-analysis"><root xmlns="urn:schemas-

I have tried using different account for impersonation but everything fails.
Any help would be really appreciated.
We have a SQL Server 2000 with SSAS 2000 on it. The SSAS data was stored in a shared disk (SAN disk), so i have the Data folder but the Bin folder was stored in the C: drive that was loosed.
How can i attach the databases to the SSAS 2000 server that i just installed
I'm using SQL Server 20008 Standard. For reasons we yet don't know, from time to time, server administrator's metadata is lost. Please look at the image below.
I'd like to know if anyone knows why this could be happening, with problem fixing recommendations as well :)
I'm new to Analysis Server. How will i connect the Remote Analysis Server across Network using ADOMD Connection.
Please Help me!
We are experiencing a severe performance issue when syncronizing cubes using R2. We have 2 sets of machines that we are experiencing varied performance and speed when syncronizing cubes.
Test Server Pair 1
Dell R710, 72GB Ram, 2 drives in Raid 1 (OS), 4 drives in Raid 10 (Cube and DB Storage) - This is the source server
Dell R900, 256GB Ram, 2 Drives in Raid 1 (OS), 3 Drives in Raid 5 (Cubes & Storage) - Server recieving sync updates
These servers are running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise and SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU9 Enterprise (64bit). The performance of the cube syncronization is slow but manageable.
Test Server Pair 2
Dell R710, 96GB Ram, 2 drives in Raid 1 (OS), 4 drives in Raid 10 (Cube and DB Storage) - This is the source server
Dell R910, 256GB Ram, 2 Drives in Raid 1 (OS), 14 Drives in Raid 10 (Cubes & Storage) - Server recieving sync updates
These servers are running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise and SQL Server 2008 R2 CU2 Enterprise (64bit). This pair of servers running SQL 2008 R2 syncronize very slowly. The process about 70-80 percent slower than the first pair. Our cubes that
we syncronize are very large in size (some are 500-800GB in size) and for that reason con
Recently I took over a laptop which belonged to a collegae of mine who allready installed SQL 2008 R2 Developer Edition. Up till now there seemed to be no need to re-install. However yesterday I tried to connect to the AS server to update it's properties
and ran into this message:
The connected user is not an Analysis Services server administrator. Only an administrator can make changes to server properties. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.ManagementDialogs).
The thing is that I'm an administrator on this laptop, but with the above limitation simply cannot figure out how to grant AS administrative rights to myself. Any
clues/workarounds on this ?
I'm also reading this book, and do not have the companion cd. If someone could e-mail it to me at:
firstname.lastname@example.org i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
