Flow Chart - Multiple FlowSteps from an activity to other activities

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

A custom activity called "Number" which is used to set value of a variable.
A custom activity called "Add" which is used to add two numbers.

Drag and drop "Number" activity to the flowchart.Name the activity to Number1.Set the value to 5.
Drag and drop another "Number" activity to the flowchart.Name the activity to Number2.Set the value to 10.

Make the connections in this way

"Add" activity should automatically check its inputs(Number1 = 5 ,Number2 = 10) from the arrows and do the computation to give result 15.

How it can be achieved using FlowChart elements by writing custom activities for the arrow,Number,Add?

Please let me know if the question is not clear.

How to find child (model item) activities of a flow chart model item?

Hello,In an earlier post, I asked how to find the children of a given model item.  If the model item I'm working with is a FlowChart, then the strategies given in that earlier post don't work.  How can I, given a model item that contains a FlowChart activity, find the direct children of the model item?  I'm not particularly interested in the order in which the child will execute, I just want a list of all the immediate children. (I'm not interested in child activities nested within an activity that is a direct child of the FlowChart activitiy).Also, I would like to get the model item representing the child activities, rather than the activities directly themselves.  I think I could do something like this: Flowchart flowChart = _activeflowChartDesigner.ModelItem.GetCurrentValue() as Flowchart;            if (flowChart != null)            {                foreach (FlowNode node in flowChart.Nodes)                {                    FlowStep flowStep = node as FlowStep;

Data flow task with multiple destinations randomly hangs

I have a package whose control flow consisting of a single data flow task with multiple destinations continues to hang at random locations.  The data flow task is fairly simple: - One OLE DB source (one query of selecting about 10 fields from one table) - 9 lookups that serve basically as left joins to capture which data "drops off" (does a row redirect on on lookup errors to an "error flow") - Two destinations: one the captures all the data that doesn't drop off from the lookups, and another to capture the data that does drop off; these write to two tables unrelated to each other, and unrelated to any of the tables I'm reading from I have tried the following: - Changed one or both destinations from OLE DB to flat file -- still randomly hangs - Removed both destinations altogether -- this always suceeds.   - Removed destination A and leave destination B -- this always succeeds - Removed destination B and leave destination A -- this always succeeds I took great care in making sure I get no warnings when the package runs, even resolving the unneeded column warnings, and the duplicate keys on all my lookups, but it still hangs. However, once I give up and stop the package, the following error is thrown (among others that appear to be a byproduct of the root issue): Error: 0xC02020C4 at Data Flow Task, OLE_SRC AP12 [1]: The attempt to

How to create an activity that allows multiple exit paths similar to FlowSwitch and FlowDecision

There have been several threads around this type of request but none have provided a definitive outcome for my requirements:I am looking to emulate the FlowSwitch or FlowDecision in a custom activity so as to simplify end user workflow authoring in a rehosted environment.Currenty I am limited to linking my custom activity to a FlowSwitch or FlowDecision to allow for simple logic to be visually composed. This creates additional complexity that I am trying to avoid.I understand that these are sealed types and even the abstract FlowNode base class of these types does not have any overridable types by design as WF 4.0 favours composition over inheritance.What options do I have to accomplish my objective?If activity composition is the response to my question then could I kindly request that some samples or links to samples are provided?

Custom sequence activity deriving from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity

Hi, I try to create custom sequence activity. I found some sample (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wfprerelease/thread/f54e8eb2-29d9-46f6-ad96-766fe6fad333/). But this custom activity looks ugly (to separate nested activity using ellipses instead of arrows). My question is - how to create custom sequence activity, which will look like sequence activity. I also found this sample - <ContentPresenter x:Uid="ContentPresenter_1" Content="{Binding}" Style="{x:Static sacdt:DesignerStylesDictionary.SequenceStyle}"/> When I used this ContentPresenter my custom activity looks like System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity, but I couldn't put on it another activity. I also created class, which derives from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity, but I couldn't see it in toolbox. My question is - how to create class, which derives from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity and is visible in toolbox or how to use ContentPresenter for sequence activity, which allows put on itself another activity.

Invoke Delay Activity multiple times

HI! I am using Workflow Foundation workflows with sharepoint lists. I have a state machine workflow. One state of workflow has 2 event driven activities, one is waiting for task change and other is waiting for delay of 1 day. What i need is to send email if delay of 1 day is elapsed and send this email every day. But Delay activity is invoked only once. How can i change it so that it can be invoked multiple times. Shabih

Understanding the normal flow between multiple controllers (mvc 1.0)

I am building a medium to large application with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 (we'll upgrade to the latest after we meet some schedule commitments). The application contains a number of workflows, with a separate controller for each workflow, and the home controller owning the main page of the application. So, I end up with the home page, on which the user makes selections and then clicks one of a number of action buttons to proceed down a given workflow. For a given workflow, I seem to have the following flow between controllers:homeController (home view) --> action-button --> workflowController --> homeController (completion view)I figure the action-button does a post to the home controller, which the selections the user made are saved to session state in the appropriate model. The workflowController will handle things as the user moves through one or more views specific to the workflow, but then things end on a common completion page.My question(s):1 - Is this a reasonable way to break up responsibilities amoung multiple controllers?2 - How do I actual accomplish the hand-off to the workflow specific controller? I'd really like to avoid a redirect and the attendent round trip to the browser since controller structure is really an internal implementation issue and shouldn't impose a performance penalty on the user.3 - Is it possible to pass a model from the originatin

How to disable delete command for certain activities inside the composite activity

I had build up a composite activity, this composite activity basically contains a few activities, some of the activities are not allowed to delete. Is there a way to disable the delete command using WF APIs, instead of hooking up the keydown and context menu event for those activities?

Error when adding one instance of activity multiple time into Sequence activity

Hi all,

I encounter this error when I tried to add same Writeline instance into two different Sequence activities as shown in the code below:

      ActivityBuilder ab = XamlServices.Load(ActivityXamlServices.CreateBuilderReader(new XamlXmlReader(new StringReader(_designer.Text)))) as ActivityBuilder;
      //inspecting ab ...
      Console.WriteLine("There are {0} arguments in the activity builder.", ab.Properties.Count);
      //ProcessActivity(ab.Implementation, "");
      //test code to add two same instances of activities in a sequence and execute them
      if(ab.Implementation is Sequence)
        Sequence seq = ab.Implementation as Sequence;

How to drop Activities in Custom Activity Designer having custom style template?

I have designed a custom activity designer developed using Activity Designer XAML and using that in a rehosted Workflow environment on a WPF. I have changed the outer design of the Activity designer by setting the style template to my required style. If I do this, I am unable to add the activities to the custom activity having my custom activity designer.

Am I missing anything.? Please help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance,

While Activity for creating multiple tasks not working

I am using a while activity for creating multiple tasks for a workflow. The code is executed fine and the task is created when the loop runs only once. But when the loop runs twice or more, only one task is getting created. Also the WF status shows as Error Occured.

All I want to do here is create multiple tasks (no of tasks depends on an entered column value) for the same user. Is it posible to use 'while' in this scenario? Or is there any other way to go ahead?

NB: I am using state machine workflow.

Show multiple values in stacked bar chart tooltip

I have a stacked bar chart showing my values by geographical region. Within each region I have x-number of DataAreaIDs. I want the user to be able to see the distinct DataAreaIDs via a mouse over on each bar.

I therefore entered this formula in the tooltip option for the regional bar but it only displays #Error: "=join(Fields!DataAreaID.Value,", ")".

I appreciate your help!
