How to disable textbox causing validation?

Hello I was running into a strange problem: If I left a textbox blank (in some instances) the textbox would not give up the focus (I could not even close the form).  I learnt later that this was because the text in the textbox was causing validation to fail.  I would have to type in some value (Satisfy validation) before i could close the form. This is problematic for me and I don't want the textbox to behave this way (I do not awnt front end validation).  I desire to have validation done ONLY on the back end.     I thought that I could solve this problem by changing the 'CausesValidation' property in the textbox to false.  This worked!  However it introduced a new problem.  The binding no longer worked on the Textbox.  That is, whatever value I typed in the textbox would not make it to the data set. What is the correct way in solving this problem???  I want validation to be shut off however I still (obviously) need to keep binding in tact...

validation group one elemetn disable

My scenario is,

I have a two radio button on the page and under that four dropdown and one text field.

I made a single validation group for all the field.

Now when selecting the second radio button then fourth dropdown will be invisible and a text field will be display on that positon.

I made all that using javascript.

Now the problem is when selecting the second radio button the fourth field is not visible.

But after selecting all the mandatory fields it again ask for the fourth dropdown. how can I made only that particular field out of that group when its not displaying?

I need all using javascript.

How to disable ESC key validation in ASP.NET 2.0

I have a page that has a submit button which causes validation and a cancel button which does not cause validation.

When the cancel button is clicked, the button's click event handler is executed with no problem.

I would like the ESC key to do exactly what the cancel button does.

What we do is to trap the ESC key and then raise the click event for the cancel button.

Our code to handle the ESC key works fine except when the page has a validator.

When the page has a validator, the cancel button click event handler never gets called after the ESC key is pressed.

It works fine when the cancel button is clicked.

It also works fine if we do the same thing and trap any other key.

So it has something to do the ESC key and validation.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is there an option to force Strong Name Validation when Application is under Membership condition UR

i'm working in a team that develops a managment Application that manages our
Hardware Product.
The project is written in .Net Technolgy Winforms + Smart Client which is
downloaded from our hardware Web Site and running under Internet Exploerer
which acts as a container for our application.

Inorder for Our Application to run we set .Net Security Additiona Code Group
with our required Permission Set with MemberShip Condition URL.
So far So Good.

We are about to pass U.S Federal Certification for the Application and
according to the Federal Testsing for the application to be approved our
application needs to use one of the following membership Conditions: Strong
Name, Publisher, or Hash.

The problem is that when running under Internet Explorer we fall under the
URL membership condition and Creating any of the 3 member ship conditions
above will not work since application is downloaded from the URL and running
as a smart client.

Does Microsoft Security Experts have anysuggesion ? Something we do not
understand Correctly ? workaround ?

Just to Give an idea of the requirements see below some of th

Server side validation of Fileupload control not working

I've tried this method in my code behind to try and validate that the Fileupload control has a file or not. I get the error message the the event "Server Validate" cannot be found. Can anyone tell why? Thanks.

Public Sub CustomValidator1_ServerValidate(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs) Handles CustomValidator1.ServerValidate

' Get file name

VS 2010 HTML validation "in CSS" option - where the hell is it?

In VS 2008 there is a very useful feature of background HTML validation - it checks if CSS class name is valid i.e. it exists in one of the linked css files. But VS 2010 Express does not do that any more. And the relevant setting in Options->Text Editor->HTML->Validation->in CSS is not there. Ok, maybe they made it paid for option? VS 2010 Professional? Not there. Or maybe VS 2010 Ultimate? Not a trace.

1. am I blind?

2. they decided it is too convenient to use and removed it?

3. they will "introduce" it in SP1?

What is going on? That one thing made me move back to VS 2008 web developer.

User validation Issue in xlsx file

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

set messageTemplateResourceName from resource file in Validation appication block.

I am using Validation application block in my project and want to set validation message from resource file, but not able to do that. I tried giving the path of resource file in messageTemplateResourceType and name of resource in messageTemplateResourceName. But it did not help as I only receive the message if I have set something in messageTemplate even after setting the resource file.

Here is my code:

<validator lowerBound="1" lowerBoundType="Inclusive" upperBound="250"
              upperBoundType="Inclusive" negated="false" messageTemplate=""
              messageTemplateResourceType="Asurion.jCare.Common.Resources.UIResources.PerilTypeAndDetailsSection, Asurion.jCare.Common.Resources, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null"
              tag="" type="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Validation.Validators.StringLengthValidator, Microsoft.Practices.Enterpris

Use Membership but bypass / disable password usage for users

I have an application that does LDAP authentication. The authentication is done on the code behind page of my Login.aspx page. Once the user passes LDAP authentication, a cookie is set and I redirect:

FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, False)

I would like to setup membership in my application and keep track of some user information. But due to company security requirements, I cannot store user passwords on my application. That must stay on the LDAP server only.

Is there a way to store users but disable password storage on the aspnet_membership table?

Localize framework message from xml validation error

I need to validate an XML through XSD. I am using XMLReader (with XmlReaderSettings and

Validation_EventHandler to do it). Depend on users preference, I would like to change the output message generated by  Validation_EventHandler in french or english.

Any idea on how to perform this?
