Cannot save documents with spaces in filename

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi guys,

I'm having some trouble saving documents to sharepoint.

Server: W2k3 Standard R2 with SP2

Sharepoint: WSS 3.0 with SP2

Client: WinXP Pro with SP3, Office 2007 Pro with SP2

When I create a new document in a document library and try to save it, Word will freeze and the document will not save t the library.

If I create a new document and save it without spaces, it saves and checks-in fine.

If I edit an existing document (with or without spaces) it will work fine.

Uploading documents works fine too.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

force document 'save as' for visitor users for all documents.

hello we are using foundation as the basis for a customer extranet, one of the 'features' of sharepoint seems to be the inconsistancy of how it handles office and non-office documents. for pdf's the user is prompted for save as. For word docs if the (remote Ad authenticated )user has word this opens the document for the site and reprompts for credentials, i usderstand why this is happening as they are opening the document on different network. the question is can i force 'save as' for word and excel documents in the manner of pdfs for visitor level users. Thanks Mark

Publishing SharePoint 2010 via TMG 2010 SP1, Cant save any documents.

Hi, I have setup the publishing of a SharePoint site through TMG and appeared to have no issues. I am able to check documents in and out that I have uploaded but cannot save any to document libraries. I cant edit any docs and write them back to the library. It comes up with "document not saved" or that the doc is "Locked for editing by someone else." I realise there are a lot of variables involved in the setup here and wish to be pointed in the right direction to finding a fix. I have turned on monitoring in TMG and every connection I make is allowed and appears to be fine. I have looked at logging on SharePoint but cannot find the right one to turn on? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mark

SharePoint 2010 prompts to save PDF documents when opening.

Our users are being prompted to save PDF documents when clicking on them in SharePoint 2010.  We set the 'Browser File Handling' setting to 'Permissive' for the Web Application, but we are still being prompted for some of the PDF files.  Some PDF files open fine, though.  Doug

Can I save documents to a website like from Office apps to SharePoint?

We're developing an Office add-in that will store documents in a database. What I'd like to be able to do is save the document to the server using a web-style address (e.g. http://documentsystem/NewDocument.docx), kind of like how it's done in SharePoint. The user does not need to enter the full address, it will be configured elsewhere, and the save process will be more or less automated.

When uploaded, I want to intercept the file, read the contents and store it in the database using some kind of custom handler. Is this possible? How would I go about doing this? Should I be using WebDAV? WCF services?

How to implement disabling save button when filename is blank in SaveFileDialog

Now I want to implement the functionality that disabling the save button when the file name is blank in SaveFileDialog. But the class doesn't provide any properties or events to achieve this goal. And it is also a sealed class, so inheritance cannot be used. Can anybody provide me some suggestions on it, such as using Windows API or customized dialog?

Unable to save Office 2007 document to SharePoint My Site Personal Documents document library

...also when Office documents are saved to document library they open as Read-only and cannot be saved back to the same document library.

This only happens in my production SharePoint 2007 environment from client XP and IE7 machine.  It does not happen in developement environment (which mirrors production) from client XP/IE7 machines.

Save works fine to SharePoint document libraries from client Win 7 and IE8 machines in both production and development environments.

This only happens when attempting to save to a My Site Personal Documents document library.  Any other document library this behavior does not exist from XP or Win 7 machine.

What settings controls ones ability to save to a personal My site document library.  What setting could be different between prod and dev installations?  It only happens

Save images to SQL CE

Storing binary objects (such as image, office document etc.) into database is a little cumbersome when it comes to retrieval. Hence the most commonly accepted way is only store the file path in the database, and to store the documents on a file share.

Profile not being save after redirect.

I am trying to save values into a Profile on Page1, then redirect to Page2 and access those values.  However, after the page redirects the profile values are blank as if they were never saved.   When stepping through the code I can see that they are being save on Page 1.

I suppose I could use session variables to store the information but I don't understand why saving the profile doesn't work.

server side does not save data when using POST data to another URL using WebRequest

I am using a IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. I have a simple application that uses System.Net.WebRequest to POST data to another URL (in fact, the server side URL is on my local computer and it is hosted in IIS 7.5).

  1.  The problem is the server does not save data from client although on the client side codes when I debug and I see the OK message return from the code line

response.StatusDescription; // this has value of "OK"
2. How can I debug the server code side where to receive the request from client side who posts the data ?

The following is the codes for client who posts data using System.Net.WebRequest, and codes for server side who received posted data to save to database.

Client side codes: // also run on my local computer

public string PostIntegrationXml(XmlDocument xmlSubmitDoc)
