Scripts not read when in head tag

I just upgraded to VS2010 if that matters.  I'm learning JQuery and noticed that scripts don't work if they're in the head tag.  Also, I need the script tag with type="text/javascript" in the head (with nothing else) in order for the JQuery scripts in the body to work.

Very bizzare, any suggestions?

With a separate script tag in the <body> with my JQuery script, this works

<head runat="server">
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js" />
<script type="text/javascript">

This doesn't:

<head runat="server">
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js" />

Editor's Note: Head in the Clouds

inline expression or binding expression in the server head section

Hello, I write inline expression and binding expression in the server head section:<head runat="server"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style1.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%# Request.ApplicationPath %>themes/style2.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= ResolveUrl("~") %>themes/style3.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= Request.ApplicationPath %>js/jwork.js"></script> </head> protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Page.Header.DataBind(); }  But both kinds of expression aren't parsed or executed except the  ResovleUrl menthod. The html renders like this: <head><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="&lt;%= Request.ApplicationPath  %>themes/style1.css" /><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="&lt;%# Request.ApplicationPath  %>themes/style2.css" />    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/themes/style3.css"  />

Hi, I just started using AjaxControlToolKit. For starter, I added the CalendarExtender to an existing page. Things were fine until I tried to open the page and I got the following error:"This page is missing a HtmlHead control which is required for the CSS stylesheet link that is being added. Please add <head runat="server" />" Is it obsolutely required the header tag to have runat="server" attribute? Any workaround? We are using a base page class which is derived from System.Web.UI.Page, so if I modified said class (which renders the header from the code behind), it will affect all of our existing pages. The thing is I am not sure if there will be any side-effect and if the others will approve of this approach.

How do I add an external javascript and CSS to the head of a Sharepoint page?

I am a web designer and I was asked to design a page for our internal sharepoint server. I created a spry page using Dreamweaver CS5, and I need to add the .js and .css to the head of the sharepoint document. I created the sharepoint page, and added my html code to the html webpart, the content displays, but I need to add the external files to the <head> tag so the content displays correctly. I tryed to open the page in SP Designer 2007, but I can't edit or add to the head tag. Help

A fantastic video tutorial to help you wrap your head around MVVM with WPF

Hi All,

Just wanted to let everyone know about a fantastic video on MVVM.  The presenter, Jason Dolinger, starts off showing you how to develop a simple "Stock Quote" program the wrong way (i.e. the Winforms way) and then refactors it to use the WVVM pattern.  It is quite long (1:30) but well paced.

The video is available at: http://blog.lab49.com/archives/2650

New to SSIS and kind of banging my head a little as to if I'm doing things right

I am trying to understand using SSIS how I can merge a 'sales order header' table and 'sales order transaction' into a 3rd database table.

I need to create a 3rd table with the 'order number', 'invoice date' and 'customer' fields then on the same row have the transaction entrys.

The reason I need to do this is I then also need to run the new table against the customer table to find what currency they are using and read the conversion rate from a currency table based on the currency and year then write the currency code into the 3rd table that was created and run a calculation on the values in the row to match that currency rate to ensure each transaction of each order for each customer is calculated from the correct currency back into a single currency for all records.

My theory was to read the header table and establish how many records were in there then do the same for the transaction table. Then build a nested loop on the two values to ensure that as i read a header record it scans the transaction table for all transactions for that order number and write the data to a new table then moves on to the next order header and repeats the process until all header records are read. This is the part I am stuck on building this correctly in SSIS. I have looked for some examples or pointers

ScritpManager and Head versus Form placement

Is there a way to control where the ScriptManager drops registered scripts?  On some pages it puts all the declared scripts in the Form tag, but on other pages, it will drop them into the Head tag.

Thanks for any input

ScriptManager and script placement in the Head versus Form tag

I am using a ScriptManager to place needed scripts on thepage at run time; however, it sometimes places them within the Form tag and sometimes within the Head tag.  Does anyone know what conditions the ScriptManager uses to deteremine where to drop the scripts?  Or, is there a way to force it to always use one or the other?

Thank you.

adding tags to the head section with SPMobilePage.OnPreInit ?

The OnPreInit method's remark says :"This override adds <meta> tags to the head section of the page."

Does anybody have any clue how to do it?

Data Collector - SQL Server Waits Report

In the Data Collector SQL Server Waits Report, in both the graph and table reports, there is a Wait Time measurement and it shows (ms/sec).  What exactly does that mean?  I see that it carries out to 3 digits, so does that mean it measures down to the millisecond?  Any help would be appreciated, I can't seem to find a definition.

Delete Data Collector Jobs

I have a server on which I enabled the 3 build-in collector sets using the UI. When I disable the Collector Sets and the Data Collection the SQL Server Agent jobs are not deleted and I cannot manually delete those due to a foreign key constraint error? Also the SSIS packages are not deleted?

So how to I cleanup these Jobs and SSIS packages after disabling Data Collection in the UI?

SQL Server 2008 R2 Data Collector for multiple servers.

Hello all,

I'm working as a intern and have been maintaining a performance monitoring application for my companies servers and wanted to know if "Performance Data Collector" could do the job for us(and that I've spent the last month working on...) I ran across an article(http://www.simple-talk.com/sql/learn-sql-server/sql-server-2008-performance-data-collector/ ) that seemed to describe this tool as pretty much what I've been working on.

Presently we do this:

1. Performance Monitor(perfmon.exe) logs all the performance counters we want and stores them locally on each server.

2. A client service(run on each server we monitor) takes the log files, zips them and periodically transfers them to the logging server.

3. Once on the logging server another service parses the files and bulk uploads them into a SQL Server 2008 R2 Database.

4. A SSAS cube on the logging server then processes all the data and we have our min/max/averages for the various counters.

Can I collect performance data from Windows 2008 servers that do not have SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 installed on them by using the server that is running the collector to pull the information? This would essentially b

SSRS Report Manager and Server do not work outside of Head Office

Good Day

We have recently started to transfer our current GP8 system into GP10 for the Head Office and CRM for our stores.  The stores no longer have access to Great Plains so we have re-created all the smartlists they used in GPO8 into SSRS and have published them to the Report Server (using SSRS 2008), the problem is they are unable to access the data via //{hostmachine}/reports or //{hostmachine}/reportserer.

CRM is no problem (via //{hostmachine}:5555/) and again any reports within CRM running off of companyname _MSCRM database, but accessing the report manager or report server brings back a blank page; not even the headers:

The odd thing about it is that it generates no error which has made it difficult for me to search for a solution.

I have tried adding port numbers 80 and 8080 to the url link but to no avail.  I do not believe it is a credentials issue as a logon prompt does not pop-up (where as every time CRM loads it requests for the user's credentials).  The only thing I have noticed is that if it's someone within the Head Office or someone who has VPNed onto our server it is fine (Head office ip 192.168.247.xxx, the VPN gives an address within the same range).
