the type initializer for 'system.runtime.remoting.identity' threw an exception.

HI, I am trying to implement kerberos delegation in Active Directory enviroment with windows 2003 servers SP2. I have Client, ProxyServer and RemoteServer application that are developed on .Net framework v3.5 using .Net Remoting "System.Runtime.Remoting". I am not using Microsoft.Samples.Security.SSPI &  Microsoft.Samples.Runtime.Remoting.Security directly. my code is based on "http://blogs.msdn.com/dotnetremoting/archive/2006/07/06/662599.aspx" Only change that I have done is put impersonate="true" in channel configuration of ProxyServer and RemoteServer, and of course changed the UPN and Port and IP address. The Client's credentials are successfully impersonated by ProxyServer, I can access the text file on ProxyServer on behalf of client. But when from ProxyServer I try to execute the method on RemoteServer it throws "the type initializer for 'system.runtime.remoting.identity' threw an exception." After looking at blog http://www.secnewsgroups.net/group/microsoft.public.dotnet.security/topic8251.aspx I did required changing under Local Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignments -> impersonate a client after authentication and Create Global Objects. I have added three domain user names in three machine under whose credentials corrosponding application is running. When i run three applications on their

User Control Web Part - The type initializer for 'IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Connection' threw an exception.

I need help, in our SharePoint 2007 project we have created Web Part using VS 2005 & .Net 2.0, User Control. In the user control for one of the drop down list box databinding method we are using data from IBM DB2. It works fine on our local machine, but after Web Part deployment if i open the page then the Drop Down List is empty. I checked the log in the event viewer. I found the following error message in the vent viewer -

The type initializer for 'IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Connection' threw an exception.

Exception : The type initializer for 'System.Text.BaseCodePageEncoding' threw an exception

I'm getting a strange exception in the following situation:

Dotnet application written in C#.

Pinvoking a dll written in C++ in which I'm calling CoInitialise();

After calling functions inside the dll, a call to System.console.WriteLine or a call to SQLConnection.Open() throws the following exception.

If I start the program with System.console.WriteLine("Starting Application) , then it solves the problem, as if it had initialized the environnement correctly before pinvoking the dll.

Do you have a explanation of this strange behavior?

'schema.AllCategories' threw an exception of type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException

We're porting a solution from 2007 to 2010 and we're having trouble accessing the CrawledProperties property from the Schema object. Other properties from the Schema object however are accessible (e.g. AllManagedProperties). It does not matter whether we use the obsolete SearchContext to create the Schema object, or the new SearchServiceApplication (Example code from Steve Curran here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010programming/thread/2550e6e8-34a6-4012-969f-9657dc526d74) Now what's interesting is that the SAME user (Farm administrator) can access the AllCategories using a Windows Forms application, but when using a SharePoint solution (Codebehind on an application page) it doesn't work. We have double-checked that the executing user is the same. The same user can also browse the CrawledProperties using the Central Admin UI. We're experiencing this on several server installations, one of which is the "Standalone" installation of Search Server Express 2010, whereas the same user was used to perform the installation. I'd appreciate any ideas you might have.

ServerVersion = 'Conn.ServerVersion' threw an exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException

I have a web service  which tries to connect to the SQL server.

It uses Integrated security = true.

I get the Conn.ServerVersion threw an exception of  type System.InvalidOperationException as soon as the connection object is instatiated.

Any leads.

.NET Internals: Tailor Your Application by Building a Custom Forms Designer with .NET

The design-time architecture of Windows Forms in the .NET Framework has made development much more flexible than it had been with MFC. With Windows Forms, you can drag one of your custom controls from the toolbox and drop it onto the Visual Studio design surface and even though Windows Forms knows nothing about the control, it's able to host it and let you manipulate its properties-not possible in MFC. In this article, the author discusses what's going on under the covers as you design your forms and then walks through the creation of a bare-bones forms designer.

Error Handling: Throwing Custom Exception Types from a Managed COM+ Server Application

Exception handling semantics in .NET are based on type, so you can create custom exceptions that have their own properties and methods. In .NET, exceptions are first-class citizens, and since they're the built-in error handling mechanism, all .NET-compliant languages must support exceptions. In addition, COM+ services are available to .NET code as Enterprise Services, so you can leverage exceptions in your Enterprise Services design. In this article the author describes custom exceptions, throwing exceptions across COM interop boundaries, and working with Enterprise Services.

Issue with List Definition of same base content type and deployed via same feature

I am trying to deploy two custom list definitions using only one single feature.  Below are the details of my issue.

  • Two custom list definitions
  • Each custom list definition has its own custom content type
  • Each custom content type inherits from the base content type Picture (Type = 109)
  • The custom list definitions are grouped together under one single feature
  • The custom content types are grouped together under a seperate single feature

When I deploy my solution in this configuration, the second list definition gets the first custom content type applied to it and the list schema from the first list definition is also applied to the second list definition.

What makes this more interesting, when I seperate both of the list definitions under two seperate features it all works fine.  Custom content types and list schemas get applied correctly.

Can anyone tell me why I can not deploy both list definitions under one single feature?

If you need me to post any of the origional code or XML to this post please let me know.

Designer crashes sometimes because application path becomes C:\Windows\system32

Sometimes VS crashes as it seems to execute the WPF designer in its directories or C:\Windows\system32. Sometimes it works fine as we can preview saved settings in the Designer. I have set application path as follows : ConfigFile = Path.Combine(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory, "mixer.ser");<br/> When VS crashes I accept to debug it, the exception is : {"Access to the path 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\\Common7\\IDE\\mixer.ser' is denied."}    System.Exception {System.UnauthorizedAccessException} ... or c:\windows\system32 Any ideas on how to fix this ?   Thank you !

Using an Application Resource in Nested UserControl

Hello This problem has been niggling me for months and I just can't seem to get to the bottom of it. I have a UserControl, let's call it 'UC_List', and the ListBox in it uses a Style which I have declared in my Application.xaml file. When working with UC_List.xaml everything seems fine. I then place 'UC_List' into a UserControl, let's call it 'UC_Summary'. I have declared the namespace at the top of UC_Summary.xaml. The xaml code in UC_Summary now has an Error: Could not create an instance of type 'UC_Summary'. Now I cannot see anything in the Design window, only a warning saying 'Problem Loading, the document contains errors that must be fixed...' However when I run the application everything works fine! After a lot of trial and error I found that the cause of the problem seems to be the Style referenced in the Application.xaml. If I declare the Style in UserControl.Resources at the top of UC_List the error goes away and the graphics in UC_Summary return. I've so far duplicated my Styles into individual UserControls to work around the problem but this could easily lead to inconsistancies. If anyone can suggest anything I would be really pleased to try it. Thank you. Regards Chris

VS 2010 XAML Design View Load always fail with a Type Load Exception

Create a new WPF project in VS and change nothing. The Design View will fail to load with the error below. Error    1    Could not load type 'Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel.Core.ISharedInstanceBuilder' from assembly 'Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel is an assembly from Expression Blend. I ever installed Blend 4 RC and uninstall and install Blend 4. I Reflector the assembly I have under Blend 4 bin folder. And cannot find a interface named ISharedInstanceBuilder. But the WPF project is a Template project without any changes. How it get related with Blend 4? And how to fix it? Thanks.
