Can you use IF Statements in the ASP.NET SQL Data Control Query Builder???

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

So in an access query I would put in the column name... FireCount: IIf([ClmTypeOfIn]="Fire",1,0) ... so if the incident was fire then it returns a 1 otherwise a 0

Tried to do the same thing in ASP.NET's built in query builder but it doesn't work :( suggests "IIf is not a recognised function name"...

any help is much appreciated :)

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

GridView control to show master-child or master-slave data, written in c#, asp.net

I previously made a master slave datagrid using Visual Studio 2003 .Net (original article) that would allow users to show data to clients using collapse and expand features. These features however did not carry over to gridview for many users. This tutorial will explaing how to create a collapsable/expandable gridview in frameworks 2.0 and higher

Easily manipulate data with the GridView control in ASP.NET 2.0

Last week, I introduced ASP.NET 2.0's GridView data control and covered the basics of using it. This week, I go a step further by going into the details of working with the data contained in the control. This includes viewing, editing, and deleting data. Thankfully, the GridView control makes it easy to utilize these features. Before diving into these topics, I begin with an examination of the different field types supported by the GridView control.

Sorting Data in a GridView Web Server Control

The GridView control provides built-in sorting functionality without requiring any coding. You can further customize the sort functionality of the GridView control by using custom SortExpression property values for columns as well as by using the Sorting and Sorted events

ListView DataPager with SQL-Statements that already return only paged data.

As far as I understand the ListView-Control and the DataPager-Control, they work like this: The ListView gets its datarows from its data source, then the DataPager causes the ListView to display only a subset of those rows.

So what, when I want to use custom databinding for the ListView, that *already* gets the certain subset from SQL-Server (for better performance). Can I and how can I use the DataPager then?

Thanx, S.

Persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control

Hi All,

I am trying to persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control. Here are the details

I have a user control which contains a a listBox and button. On Page_Load of user control I am populating the ListBox control with some values. On Click of button, I am trying to fetch the values which I have selected in ListBox. Though this seems very simple and straight forward I am unable to fetch values.

My Page_Load Function

void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

My Click Function

Protected Void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

       string strValue = listBox.SelectedValue

I have placed brake point at Page_Load and on click function, I am seeing that the moment the breakpoin

Validation Control Query

I've read that if you put a validation control on a page it performs the validation on the client AND server side.

My question is, if you've got a button's click event and you put code in there that puts submitted data into a database, how will the validation controls stop the data being inserted?

Is validation simply performed before anything else, then the page just stops?

Microsoft Report Viewer control to display data on one page

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if the Microsoft Report Viewer control allows for display changes.  Say for instance a user wants would like to see all the data requested then another time would like to toggle thru the pages of infomation.  So does anyone know if the control allows for display changes from complete view to paginated viewing.  I am using MS VS 2008 with ASP.NET 3.0.  Thanks for your response.

SQL Query to retrive the data in XML Predefined tag format

I am looking out the way for  instead of using column names as tags, be able to use a predefined mapping. For example Select firstname from employee <firstname>John</firstname> Instead, Have a file that maps the firstname to fname so when we run the TSQL should get:  <fname>John</fname> Please consider that there are over 100 columns in the Query for which how can I use the predefined format.  Sivaprasad S http://sivasql.blogspot.com Please click the Mark as Answer button if a post solves your problem!
