Problem connecting to report server from client machine

We've deployed some reports from a server machine which can be accessed without any problems if you are logged onto the server itself by going to the URL of http://servername/ReportServer. However if we try and access the reports from a client machine (even if we use the same administrator Windows account) we get the Windows security window appear asking for a Username and Password to be entered in order to connect to the server. We've tried entering this but we then just get a blank screen after being re prompted a few times to enter the details.
Now I'm not sure whether this will be a Reporting Services or a Windows issue. Could it be a setting within IIS? It can't really be a user thing as the same user works on the server but not on the Client machine so it's more of a machine problem. It's as if there are some authentication settings somewhere that need to be set.
We are using SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.

Thanks a lot
Steve

Client can't connect to WCF on deployment machine Windows 2003 Sp2 server .NET 3.5

Hello,

I have a WCF service hosted in a Windows service application.  I have a Windows Form client that connects to it.  I am using net.tcp binding for two endpoints.   It all works fine in my environment, but when I deploy it on my cutomer's machine the client does not get a response from the service.

I ran netstat -na and I can see the endpoints listening.  I can even see the connection ESTABLISHED when my client runs the first method.  But my client times out and receives a "Could not communicate with XXX service.  This request operation sent to net.tcp..... did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00.01.00) The time alloted... etc"

I tried removing all security from the configuration file, but that did not make a difference.

I reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5

I added     System.Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 200 as suggested in another post.

I am creating a trace for the client and the server.  The server does not log any activity of a connection.  The client is catching a communication exception.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  What else can I try to see why the client is not able to chake hands with the server on this particular machine?

Many thanks,

Karen

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

SQL server client tool installation on windows XP?

Hi My desktop is Windows XP sp3 and have office 2010, sql express 2005 management studio and Visual studeio 2008 sp1 installed.  We have a SQL R2 server installed last week.  I was able to use sql 2005 management studio to connect to the new sql 2008 R2.  Question is when i try to install 2008 R2's client tool using the 2008R2 iso image.  It look for windows installer 4.5 as prerequisite.  It fail in installing windows installer 4.5 with msg saying I am not the administrator and it require administrator right.  But I am logging in as administrator on local pc.  I also confirmed with our IT/Server guys and they confirmed that I have the admin right.  Then, I tried the following steps: a) reboot, log in as administrator locally b) checked eventviewer, no error/warning msg that stand out to me c) turn off symantec antivirus d) download windows installer 4.5 (WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe   - install it locally   - run as administrator to install All the above steps seems not working, I am kind of out of idea.  Could some on please kindly help out.  All I need is the 2008 management studio and profiler install on my PC.  thank you, Ted.

Migration of DSN use for SQL Server access from Windows SP-3 clients to Windows 7 64 bit client

We have numerous apps which use a named DSN using SQLSRV32.dll for an ODBC connection from our Windows XP-Pro SP3 32 bit machines client access to remote windows 2003 based SQL servers (mix of 2005 and 2008).  On migrating to Windows 7, this dll will not allow the apps to use the newly constructed DSN (using SQLSRV32.dll with ODBC), even though a test connection is sucessful (abbeit much slower than seen on the XP-Pro machines).  What must I use on the Windows 7 64 bit machine to allow a DSN to be used by the migrated apps?  - I have descerned through Google that WDAC is now the tool to use, but I am cluless how to use it. - The expectations from the app on the Windows XP-Pro and on the Windows 7 64 bit machines is to use a DSN to connect to SQL servers on Windows 2003. I would appreciate any advice, and thanks!

Do SharePoint 2007 and VS2010 have to be installed to the same Windows Server machine?

For WSS 3.0 development using VS 2005, I learned that we need to install VSeWSS to the Windows Server where the WSS 3.0 was installed.  For MOSS 2007 development using VS 2010, do we need to have VS 2010  nstalled to the same Windows Server?  Thanks, Jeffrey

Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="8.0.0.0",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight! I have created one more x64 client which calls a function in the WCF which in turn calls a function from the 32 bit native Dll. Whenever i try calling this WCF from the client I get an error as given below. Can anybody please guide as to where I am going wrong and what is needed to solve this issue.
