Microsoft Ribbon for WPF - problem under Windows XP

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hello everyone!

I'm having a problem with WPF Ribbon Application under Windows XP. Applications window borders shows up weirdly and ugly. I think screenshot will describe my problem best. This is a screenshot from sample project supplied with Microsoft Ribbon for WPF installation package:

I'm developing with Visual Studio 2010 and C#-language. .NET framework 4.0 installed. The problem doesn't happen with normal WPF Application.

My client wants ribbon-like user interface and they are still using Windows XP. I would greatly appreciate any help as I'm running out of my own ideas.

Sincerely Otto Patolinna

Problem with Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser.dll on Windows 64-bit

First of all, I hope this is the right forum for my problem.  It really spans multiple categories, so it was hard to choose which one to post in.  Also, I cut my teeth on .NET with this particular application, as everything I've done before that was in VB6.  So it's possible that I'm missing something stupid since I'm not a .NET expert by any means.

My application upgrades a SQL Server database (either 2000 or 2005) that my company's clients use with another app.  It upgrades the db by executing a series of SQL commands.  I am using SMO with the ExecuteNonQuery and ExecuteWithResults functions, which I pass the SQL commands to.

When I build my solution (which includes an installer), and install it on test machines, everything works fine.  I've even compared the database schema to make sure it upgrades everything.  The problem is, that I can't debug the program on my new development computer - which is running on Windows XP 64-bit - as it gives me an error every time it makes an ExecuteNonQuery or ExecuteWithResults function call.  I can debug this app just fine on my older Windows 2000 development computer, but I'd like to figure this out so I can use it on my faster Windows XP 64 machine.  This leads me to believe it's a problem with the 64-bit platform.  I have the .NET 2.0 Framework (64-bit) installed

MSLU: Develop Unicode Applications for Windows 9x Platforms with the Microsoft Layer for Unicode

The Microsoft Layer for Unicode (MSLU) provides Unicode support on Windows platforms that don't provide their own support, including Windows 98, Windows 95, and Windows Me. With MSLU you can write Unicode applications easily for these platforms. MSLU is simple to install, small (even though it wraps more than 400 APIs), and easy on system resources. This article explains the design criteria behind MSLU and how to put the layer to work for you.

Wickedly Strange .Net WPF Performance Problem Dissapeers with Windows 7 Performance Monitor Open

Hello Everyone, I have been developing one large and complex WPF application for 13 months now, all is going well and especially tonight as I now have some sort of clue or hint to what I have been seing now for quite some time.  Here is the rundown. 1) Running on i5 processor with 4GB RAM and Windows 7 2) The application was developed all in .Net 4.0, WPF C#. 3) It is heavily GUI intensive and also uses Entity Framework Detached for Database Access. 4) Is multi-threaded / multi-tasking. I am a nutcase when it comes to testing.  Since my graphical application heavily depends upon performance and determinsm (please somebody don't start with the C++ vs .Net on here) and has been performing great FOR THE MOST PART.  Every once in a while, I see that the application runs into the weeds for 5 or 6 seconds and the interface is unresponsive.  I have this thing tuned finely too.  Well now toward the end of development I have finally had to face that bug so to speak.  I can force it by clicking spastically on my buttons causing an event storm and making the system update the GUI.  SO!  Great start, I can now cause the problem on a regular basis (for you youngsters that is actually a good thing)!  Alright, so I start with the easiest investigative tool, CNTRL - ALT - DEL into Windows 7 Performance Monitor.  As you can tell from

Microsoft .net framework 1.1 installation problem

Well I know there is numerous posts about .net framework 1.1 installation failure,I have searched through a lot of them.I failed to resolve my  problem so I am posting this.when I try to install .net framework 1.1 redistributable package which I downloaded from here it installs  .net framework version 1.0.3705 then when I want to install .net framework 1.1 service pack 1 downloaded from here which has the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe  it doesnt install showing the message  ''The upgrade patch can't be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing,or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.'' I have tried a lot of way to solve this including:using the stebner cleanup tool to erase all versions of framework then restarting  machine and reinstalling again but this way can't solve the problem, modifying registry etc.Other versions(1.0,2.0,3.0,3.5) are installing smoothly they are not creating problems only this fw 1.1.How can I resolve this issue. Please anyone help

Hi I have migrated to a new computer using Windows 7, 6 gig memory, I7 chip (old machine had xp) and have installed Visual Studio 2008 and  SQL Server 2008 R2.  I get CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 262) when I try to create a new database.  Other posts (example:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/28fee0ed-c7e2-40df-8f79-f513c9848f09/) work for Vista but I cannot find how to grant permissions.  Run as administrator (vista fix) does not work. I have admin privaleges on my machine.  There are no other accounts.    What do I need to do to update privaleges? Thanks and have a nice day.

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

Problem with displaying printDialog on Windows 7 64 bit

Hello.   I'm having problems with displaying PrintDialog on Windows 7 64 bit. I checked other threads on this forum and unfortunately none of the solutions worked for me.   Here are some experiences: 1. UseExDialog option does not work for me. If set to false the PrintDialog does not show at all. If set to true PrintDialog.ShowDialog() method throws SEHException. Below You can find exception stack trace: StackTrace "   in System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.PrintDlgEx(PRINTDLGEX lppdex)\r\n   in System.Windows.Forms.PrintDialog.ShowPrintDialog(IntPtr hwndOwner, PRINTDLGEX data)\r\n   in System.Windows.Forms.PrintDialog.RunDialog(IntPtr hwndOwner)\r\n   in System.Windows.Forms.CommonDialog.ShowDialog(IWin32Window owner)\r\n   in printerDialogTest.Program.Main(String[] args) w C:\\Users\\plcmiodu\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2008\\Projects\\printerDialogTest\\printerDialogTest\\Program.cs:line 19" string 2. Setting Platform target in Build to x64 does not work either. Behaviour is exactly the same as above. 3. Setting dialog owner to this (ShowDialog(this)) does not work either. Behaviour exactly the same. The code I used for testing is as simple as possible: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Drawing.Printing; namespace printerDialogTest {  &

Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient problem

I had a C# Winforms project referencing Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient. It was working 100%. I upgarded MS SQL 2008 to R2. I also installed the relevant programs in the SQL2008 R2 feature pack. What happens now is after I add a reference to Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient, I can add a using statement to the dll. If I type Microsoft, add a dot intellisence will give me 'AnalysisServices' and I can complete the statement. As soon as I build the project, I get a squirel below 'AnalysisServices' and the error message: Error 2 The type or namespace name 'AnalysisServices' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The version of Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient is The runtime version is v2.0.50727. The fileversion and product version is 10.50.1600.1. I work on a Windows Vista computer using Visual Studio Professional. I am realy desperate for help. I spend the entire weekend uninstalling and re-installing SQL 2008 R2, Visual Studio and the feature pack. All to no avail. I am not sure what forum to select.

Microsoft.NET version 3.0 Install Error: Installation failed for Windows Communication Foundation. M

Please help! I've been trying for the last day and a half to properly install Microsoft.NET version 3.5 so that I can install TurboTax and do my taxes. I was only on version 1.1. Multiple tries to upgrade to 3.5 was giving me a code 1603 error on install on "Microsoft.NET version 2.0a". I followed advice from forums here and elsewhere to uninstall and reinstall my prior versions. I also used Windows Install Cleanup before reinstalling. I keep getting to the same result when I try to go from version 2.0 to version 3.5. In my last attempt, I went all the way back to version 1.0 and installed each step up to 2.0 SP1 with (allegedly) no problems. This last time I decided to upgrade to 3.0 instead of going right to 3.5. Now I get the following error message: [04/03/10,04:07:14] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation.
