Sharepoint2010:Upload multiple document and connect to outlook :owssupp.dll & stssync

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

My first question went un-answered but I solved in after some midnights, now this is my second question, I am beginning to think SharePoint2010 is fantastic but is lacking in real support.

I am using SharePoint2010 , accessing from internet on Windows7(64bit) and Office 2010(64bit) notebook, While trying to access iver internet, Multiple upload of documents and Connect to Outlook are greyed out even after placing the URL in the trusted sites. Afte rmuch digging up it points to OWSSUPP.DLL and STSSYNC, which are supposed to help in these function. In Office 2010 I can't find this DLL and IE8 (64bit) does not have the STSSYNC active X loaded in my managed-add-in nor did it prompt me to download this active x.

The big question here is can some one help be shed light on this, what's the point if all on OWSSUPP.DLL are talking on Office 2007 when Office 2010 is in the market.

Connect to Outlook a Task list that has Tasks with Multiple users assigned

Using MOSS 2007 SP2 and Outlook 2007 SP2

I go to a task list that has multiple users assigned to a task.

I setup the connect to outlook for this list, and in outlook I only see the tasks that have a single user assigned.

None of the multiple user assigned tasks are visable, is this how it is supposed to work?

Upload Multiple File using JQuery in asp.net

In this article I have explained how to upload multiple files using file upload control. I have used jQuery plugin for uploading multiple files.

I have also explained how to check for file type, file maximum size limit using jQuery & also using server side validation code.

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Upload multiple files in asp.net

The article Upload multiple files in asp.net was added by habdulrauf on Friday, July 09, 2010.

Some times we need to allow user to upload as many files as he/she wants instead of fixed number of files. So here is the procedure to achieve this. Idea is taken from Joe's video.%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile

iTextSharp - Multiple Document Concatenation

I have built a routine which takes a byte() array and passes it to iTextSharp for rendering as a PDF.  This is working just fine.

However, in my application, users want to be able to select multiple documents and have the program render them as a single, combined PDF.

For the purpose of this discussion, let's say they chose two documents.  I form the byte() array containing the data of the first document and then, I increase the size of that byte() array and load the second document's data into one.  The result is that I have a single combined byte() array which I now want to render.

However, when the PDF viewer opens (in runtime), it's only showing me the first document (as if there is no more data in the byte() array to render).
My thinking is that perhaps it's picking up the End Of File (EOF) marker and therefore not rendering the data past that point in the byte() array.

Any thoughts on this?  Here's my code.

Prior to the For/Next construct, I have a dataset already containing a list of documentId's from a database that works with my EDM package.
A webservice call returns the byte() array for each document in my dataset into mb() and I use mbbnew() to build the combined byte() array for the documents requested by the user.

Just to be clear,

Reg File Upload control to upload files from document library

question on attachments/document upload in SharePoint

Scenario: I have business need where I need to attach some documents to a document library. My users fill out a form, which is a custom List Form in a list called "Request" but on the same form I want to provide my users a document upload feature which will save the document to a document library called "Request Documents".

In other words, request information such as Title, Department, Description etc get saved to "Request List" (SharePoint List) whereas the documents attached/uploaded (if there are any from the user) while filling the same request form out, get saved in the "Request Documents" (SharePoint Document Library) with the same ID #. If Request ID was 100, then the uploaded document(s) in the Document Library should also be 100.

I tried a few techniques out, and I'm reading some more on Data Source Library of SharePoint but I believe I need some help from the community before I do anything further.

Outlook Unable to connect to MySite's "Social Network"

Running into a really odd issue. I have to farms configred pretty much identically, a production farm and a dev farm. For some reason I'm able to set up a social network connection from outlook to my dev farm without any problems but I get "invalid user name or password" when I try and connect tot he production farm. There's no errors showing in the SPLogs or the event viewer. I've checked everything I can think of but knowing me I'm missing something really small.

Upload documents to Sharepoint 2010 Document library

Is there a way to upload documents to an SP 2010 document library with Custom Actions or Workflows?  I have a requirement of taking the contents of several directories (older data files) and uploading them to Sharepoint.  Not sure which actions actually perform this operation.  Any help most greatly appreciated.

New / Upload / Actions / Settings / View menus on a document library are hidden

I have a Document library. On the View Page (All Documents) for the Document library, I do not see the menu bar with the "New / Upload / Actions / Settings / View" menus. It looks like one of the users with owner permissions did something to cause this behavior. No custom code exists on the page. I am not sure how this menu bar can be hidden. Can someone please clarify. I am a site collection administrator.

Need to link multiple External Content List items to a single document metadata column

I have an external content list - for my purposes, the data isn't any fancier than a list of terms provided by a web service (read only - I don't need update/delete functionality). I want to be able to link any subset of those terms to a single document metadata column (in other words, I need it to work like a normal content list that is defined to allow multiple values in a column) but SharePoint doesn't let me do that on an ECL. I need the content list to be externally driven since more values are going to be added to an outside system over time, but I think it's possible that I may not need a full-fledged ECL list to make this work this way in SharePoint. Just to clarify: I don't need the metadata values in my documents to maintain a PERSISTENT link to the web service (if someone changes an underlying value in the web service DB, it doesn't need to be updated in the document table too). I just want SharePoint to offer up an updated set of source values from the web service if somebody goes in and edits the document metadata. Any ideas for how I can make this work?

Upload multiple files to Server

I have an ASPX Page that contains a fileuploader, I want to know how can I upload multiple files together to server and also create a new folder on Server and then upload these files into this new folder! Please send your sample codes in VB.NET,   Thanks,

How To "Upload a new document template" to Content Type via Web Service

I hope someone can help me. Let me begin by saying that I'm not a programmer; so I 'may' not get the terminology exactly right, but hopefully someone will know what I mean. I am using SharePoint 2010 along with a 3rd party application that I'm using for creating, managing and executing workflows.  The workflow application I'm using is Nintex Workflow 2010.  As such, I can only use functions, services, commands...etc...that are offered to me by that application. Anyway, what I am trying to do is simply replace a document template that is being used for a particular content type with another document template. For this I believe I need to use the Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument Method.  More information is provided here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/websvcwebs.webs.updatecontenttypexmldocument.aspx). The Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument method requires two parameters..."contentTypeId" and "newDocument". "contentTypeId" - I have got the Content Type ID by clicking on the content type and viewing the URL shown in my browser.  So, I am confident that my content type id is correct and is "0x010100C392CF11DE923A4E8AB9018B0A42119303". "newDocument" - The MSDN article states...'A string that represents the XML document to replace the existing XML document.".  To be honest, I'm not 100%

Connect multiple lists

Hi, I have a list "List1" with column let's say "A". I have 4 more lists List2,List3,List4,List5 with different columns. Once an item is created in List1, another item will be created in all the other lists. My requirement is to connect all these lists some how may be I can use column "A" from List 1. I know look up column works but I guess it is only one way. I need to be able to navigate from one list to another ex. If I use look up column, then I can navigate only one way from List1 to List2. I need to also navigate from List2 item to List1item. Please let me know a possible solution. Thanks in advance. I am using MOSS 2007 standard edition.
