Cannot properly join lists in SPD 2007

Ok, I have been reading all sorts of posts and such for about a week and still have no come up with any concrete answers.


I cannot properly join lists in SP 07. I say properly because I never get the option to select a field to associate one with the other. 

I select "Create new linked data source" from Data Source Library; Pane opens; Left Click "Configure Linked Data Source"; Add 4 to 5 lists from "Current Site"; Select Next; Select Join option but Next is greyed out. Is this supposed to be greyed out because they are lists? Can lists be joined? I see alot of examples on joining databases and excel pages but not too many on lists.

If I select next from the last point, open the linked sources and select my newly created linked source and click to show data, I can see all of the information in there. Problem is I don't believe the lists are really joined by anything since I never received an option for it. 

I also have been reading up on joined subviews but I never receive an option for  joined subview. Is the joined subview the way to go for lists? If so how?


I know these boards are fairly active and any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

I use Access 2007, and I have the following SQL problem:

I have two tables TransformerTypePeriodBOMProducts and TransformerTypePeriodProducts. The first table has 4 fields: TransformerTypeID, OutputProductID, PeriodID and BOM, while the second has the following 4 fields: TransformerTypeID, OutputProductID,PeriodID and AssemblyCapacity. So as you can see, there are 3 fields (TransformerTypeID, OutputProductID and PeriodID) that are in both tables.

I need to delete all records in the first table that have the field AssemblyCapacity in the second table equal to 0 (and of course have similar TransformerTypeID, OutputProductID and PeriodID fields).

I tried many trials, the last I got was:

Audit logs on 2007 - specific items that have been viewed in lists


Hi all

I'm far from being an expert in SP, so please would you treat me like you're responding to your granny ;-)  I'm a basic user, who has set up a team site (one of thousands) within a coropration.

I've created a 'list' to use to post briefings.  I now want to track who has clicked on the briefing to read it, and when they did that.  I've tried creating a custom audit log, and that tells me they visited the list, and that they clicked into an item, just not which specific item in the list.

The 'document location' tells me the visited 'sites/Trainingdelivery/Lists/General message/DispForm.aspx' but the URL to a specific item looks like this 'sites/Trainingdelivery/Lists/General%20message/DispForm.aspx?ID=207'. 

How do I capture the specific ID?

Or, is there a way to add something into my list to get users to click to say they've read the message?  my problems with this so far, is I target messages at groups, not individuals, so each item in the list could not be edited to say read, as they would update it for everyone in the group, not just the individual.

Compare/Join two lists and return results


I have a request to take two lists with similiar data, combine the data and display the results set differences.

List A:Serial:Hub

List B:Serial:Location

As an example I need to take and map the hub in list A (Lets say "Chicago") to the Location in List B (lets say "DEST.Chi") and find matching and missing serial numbers. There are 10 hubs and 10 locations that map to each other. Both lists are in the same site. Could someone point me in the right direction?

MOSS 2007 - Propagate changes to multiple sites and lists

We use MOSS 2007 for doc mngmt and maintain individual sites containing lists and libraries for each of our 90+ projects.  All sites are created from a site template and we wish to keep them all identical.  How should I push out changes and updates as business requirements change?  In other words, if we change/update the template, how can I make all the sites and lists look the same?

Wiki lists in MOSS 2007 HTML Validator bug


HI all,

I'm facing a nasty problem with Wiki lists in MOSS 2007. I managed to create a custom functionality for the Wiki list which allows our users to insert business images into the Wiki page. So actually I programmed the functionality to insert inline images (base64 encoded) into the SharePoint HTML editor. So far so good but on server side when the list item is saved, it seems there is some kind of HTML validator or something which removes the entire "src" attribute probably because it's value is not an URL but something like ""data:image/Png;base64, here goes base64 string of the image". Also some custom attributes for HTML elements are removed during this interesting validation/filtering...So if I have some custom attribute for an "img" html element, the attribute is removed on server side when the item is saved.

This strange behavioral is only for wiki lists but if I have a custom list with the MultiLineText field (with rich text mode enabled) my base64 src for images are not removed.

Does anyone have any idea how can I disable that server validator/filter? I even checked with reflector but couldn't find any helpful information.

In my opinion this is a SharePoint bug since base64 inline images are supported by IE8...

Join Sharepoint lists with SRS.


I'm trying to join two lists in a report.  The dataset creator will not let you choose more than one list. 

I've gone through the FAQ on the site.  It doesn't give any mention of SP Lists.  I'm guessing I'll have to find a way to join multiple datasets.
