External List - Access Selected Items

Hello, The situation;- An external list in SP 2010 from SQL A custom ribbon/button that calls via JS a Dialog box(Application page) and passes the selected items IDs Some code behind to process items after confirmation from user. Question is how to access the selected items in the code behind. As far as I can tell the JS 'getselecteditems' only returns the list ID, which in the case of a standard list is fine, but with an External list returns something like '_B00234' - how do I use this or how to return a more meaningfull ID? (I would rather work in my confort zone VB/C# than JS to process items) casey

Animate listbox items from ItemTemplate

I want to have a slide-in effect for listbox items, when it's first loaded. I'm using ItemTemplate for listbox items and I coule do the slide-in effect from within the template using RenderTransform and DocubleAnimation. but as the Listbox is vertualized, it does the effect everytime new page of data is loaded in listbox. What I want is to animate the visible items in listbox only when DataContext is changed the first time, like messages list in 'Windows Live Mail' thanks in advance.

Selecting Items in a databound ListBox

Hi All, I'm facing a problem while trying to programatically preselect few items in a databound ListBox. I have set the datasource of the listbox to a DataTable, with required Data and Value member columns. The selection mode of the listbox is MULTIEXTENDED. Platform: .NET  1.1 (not sure if the problem is relevant to other versions) I tried preselecting items in a different ListBox that is not bound to any datasource. I'm able to preselect items using the SetSelected method. Perfect!   How can I achieve the same for a databound ListBox? What am I missing? Any help will be very much appreciated.   Regards, Amirtha

Drop Down Listbox SelectedIndexChanged Event not firing when I programmatically change selection

I have two drop down listboxes (DDL1 and DDL2).  When DDL1 has an index change, DDL2 then has a refresh of list items based off SQL Server SELECT from a table.  The database isn't the problem.  Everything works perfectly when the user selects a new item manually from DDL1.But in my code, I save the user data from the selection of DDL1 in a separate table.  And then upon rendering of the page (Page_PreRenderComplete), I do a SelectedIndex assignment of the value of what's saved in the db table.  That works just fine, it selects the DDL1 item, but DDL2 is unaffected, as if DDL1's SelectedIndexChanged event isn't called like it would be if manually changed.  How can I get around this? Thanks in advance. :)

ListBox.SelectedItem stuck at whatever is first selected and other strange ListBox behavior

Hi, I've built a List<Participant> (Participant being my custom type) and assigned this to ListBox.ItemsSource. (I'm aware this is more the Windows Forms way than the WPF way of databinding, but I'd still like to understand what's going on here - even though suggestions on how to perform my task in a more WPF-y way are also welcome.) I've set ListBox.SelectionMode to Single, and attached an event handler to the SelectionChanged event. In this handler, I dump the SelectedIndex and SelectedItem to debug output. Contrary to my expectation, 1) SelectedIndex is always -1. This isn't really causing me any trouble, but it's certainly not what I'd expect. 2) SelectedItem refers to the correct object the first time (in the windows lifetime) I select an item, but then keeps referring to this first-selected item regardless of whether I deselect (by clicking the item again while holding down the CTRL key) or select some other item. 3) If I keep clicking around and scrolling a bit (the list has ~320 items) within the list, now and then the list suddenly displays a bunch of items - sometimes many in a row, sometimes non-contiguous items, but it seems always "nearby" items! - as if they were selected. The list keeps firing the SelectionChanged event, but SelectedIndex is forever -1 and SelectedItem (and SelectedValue) always refers to whatever I had selected the fir

Problem when adding items to a listbox from different threads

I have an application in which different threads add items to a listbox throughout the application's execution (not at startup). But when one of the threads tries to add an item to the listbox, a System.InvanlidOperationException is thrown and the error message is: "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." (In my scenario the "calling thread" is one of the worker threads that add items to the listbox, and the "different thread" is the UI thread.)

So basically I just need a simple way to allow the threads to share the listbox object, or, failing that, some other workaround.
