Internet Explorer problems downloading files from IIS 6 - Response.AddHeader("content-disposition",

I'm retrieving a file from my DB, storing in a Byte[] variable. In my local development environment, Visual Studio 2008, the file download works great in all browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome).But, when running on external IIS 6.0 web server, IE 7 and IE 8 browsers will not properly download files: the indicated file name seems to default to my ASPX page "[template].aspx" , not the file name that I specify in the Response.AddHeader(...).  FIREFOX and CHROME download all files, all MIME types JUST FINE with the correct file name. This problem occurs only in IE? (Several clients all tested with same results.) Is there a disconnect between IE and IIS 6.0 in how the response headers are interpreted? Is there another header attribute needed for IE?My code:    Response.Clear();    Response.ClearHeaders();    Response.Buffer = true;    Response.ContentType = f.MimeType;    Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + f.Name + "." + f.Extension+"\"");    Response.Charset = "";    Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache);    Response.BinaryWrite(f.File);    Response.End();Thanks.

Response.AddHeader not working in safari

Hi on my website www.findmyhomefromhome.com after a sucessful entry i redirect the users to their previous uploads  which is the manageaccomm page. The code behind that does this is Response.AddHeader("REFRESH", "3;URL=manageaccomm.aspx");

This works in firefox but not in safari. In safari it goes to the following url http://www.findmyhomefromhome.com/manageaccomm.aspx,%203;URL=manageaccomm.aspx

and the message "resource could not be found Requested URL: /manageaccomm.aspx, 3;URL=manageaccomm.aspx".

I'd like to fix this but keep it working on other browsers .

Thanks for any help and i hope I provided enough information.

What the following is doing ?

Response.AddHeader("Cache-Control", "must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0")

I did search. But, didn't find any proper explanation for it.

Thinking about new C# method prototypes: object as dictionary

I recently had to write a small Flickr API. I know many .Net API for Flickr already exist but I needed one for a Silverlight application. Whatever, it's only about building some querystrings so I did it by myself. It's been an opportunity to think again about a classical question: how to pass parameters to a method ?

Imagine you have a generic method to call some Flickr functions.

Response.BinaryWrite help needed

Hi all

Im new to .NET and stuck now, so i hope anyone can help my with my problem.

I have a MS SQL database where i have stored some documents as Binary data. I cant figure out how to retrieve them and show/download them in my browser.

I found some guides online and have try to put something together.

private void Write()
 int id = 0;
 string strID = Request.QueryString["id"];
 int.TryParse(strID, out id);

 var db = new ModelDataContext();
 var doc = db.DocumentDatas.Where(x => x.ID == id).FirstOrDefault();

 byte[] byteArray = File.ReadAllBytes(doc);

How do i fill the byteArray with the data?

Thanks in advance :)

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?
