There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler' section defined

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I am trying to create an MVC2 web application that will run both on my local development machine (on localhost), and on our central webserver.

Development machine:

  • Windows 7 Professional, 64bit
  • Visual Studio 2010 (beta)
  • ASP.NET 4.0
  • IIS 7.5

Webserver:

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2
  • ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 (determined by checking the folders under %SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework)
  • IIS 6.0

Everything works fine when debugging from VS, and I've finally gotten so far that it also works copied to the webserver. However, when I try to copy it to my own local webserver, I get the following error message:

Error Summary

The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must

Hi,

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
        {
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
        }

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Thanks.

Where is System.Web.Extensions.dll now? Fails on remote hosted server.

I've read all the notes about how from RC2 to ajax.net the name space has changed. "The core ASP.NET AJAX assembly has been changed from Microsoft.Web.Extensions.dll to System.Web.Extensions.dll. In addition, the namespace has changed from Microsoft.Web.* to System.Web.*. For some reason, my app runs on my local machine but when I copy it to a remote server (that does not have the ajax updated installed) it fails.  How can I get an IIS installation to work?  Am I missing a dll that I can push up to the remote server?  I can't run the install on the remote machine becasue it's a hosted server. Thanks

Error: "Type 'System.Web.UI.UpdatePanel' is not defined"?

Can anybody tell me why I'm getting this error on the first line of all my aspx pages? The lines have a blue squiggly line underneath them:<%@ Page Language="VB" Debug="true" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %> Error: Type 'System.Web.UI.UpdatePanel' is not defined

how to duplicate values to a new repeating section from a previous one?

It's nice to have repeating section. Is there any easy way to duplicate values from a previous section to a new one, even with manual process (eg, click a button)? THanks,

hello everybody,

I am facing problem in my aspx page. i have installed ajax control kit successfully and all controls already came in toolbar tab named "Ajax Control toolkit"

But when i try to design any page using with ajax control toolkit, follow error is coming:

 I created a website with AJAX using VS2005, installed the framework in the production server and the website is working fine.

 then I installed VS2008 + Service pack in my computer without uninstalling VS2005, then converted my project to VS2008, with no issues.

then I installed Framework3.5 in the production server without uninstalling Framework2.0. Tested the website and it's good except when I try to run a Crystal report it gave me this error :

 Error

Do I remove the reference System.Web.Extensions when upgrading from VS 2005 to VS 2008?

I've got an old ASP.NET 2.0 app, which I added the AJAX Toolkit to, later in development.  When I did that I had to include the System.Web.Extensions.dll in the bin folder of the ASP.NET app, in order for it to work.  Naturally I then included a reference to that assembly DLL into the project, and pointed to it for each page I used it in.

Now I want to upgrade the app to VS 2008.  When I did it looks to me as though it added another reference to System.Web.Extensions from the GAC.  Now VS 2008 is confused and wants me to remove one of them.  The question is, which one do I remove?

Error: The type 'System.Windows.DependencyObject' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced

Hi

I have an ObservableCollection which I would like to sort.

List
<TLstNodeData> SWNodeList = TopNode.SubNodes.OrderBy(SNode => SNode.NodeDispText).ToList();

In a WindowsForm application targeting the .NET 4.0 Framework it compiles and works as expected.

If I do this in a WCF Service in my web project also targeting the .NET 4.0 Framework I get the following error.

Error 1 The type 'System.Windows.DependencyObject' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Windows, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e'.

on my localhost, everything is working just fine, developing a few hours... then i publish to another server (windows server 2003)...
and suddenly my website is broken. i could track i down to a scriptreference in my scriptmanager - which used to work perfectly.
now i don't know where it went wrong - because i developed several things, including the addition of autocomplete textbox with the control toolkit
but even after removing all the code for the autocomplete textbox, the problem wasn't solved.
i seem to be the first one to have this problem, because google doesn't return anything (useful)
anyone got an idea? in the meantime i'm using the workaround by including the js file like in the old days

I developed a web app in VS 2010 using master pages. I am converting it to Ajax. Did an extensive amount of ClientScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField need to convert to ScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField.  However, the Class SctipManager does not appear in the object browser under System.Web.UI.  Am I missing an assembly?  I go into MSDN System.Web.UI namespace and it appears in the documentaion under that namespace.  Googling for information I keep running accross GAC something to do with Ajax extension.  Looked in windows/assemblies and did not see GAC. What is GAC?

Cannot locate ScriptManager in System.Web.UI framework 4.0.

My Configuragion:
