PollingDuplexHttpBinding support in the full framework in .NET4

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I understand from the previous posts in this forum that the client support for PollingDuplexHttpBinding in previous versions of SL was limited to silverlight clients only.

Is there any change in .NET4 / SL4 in this area for supporting full framework clients? We have a scenario where we need firewall-friendly callbacks to a non-SL client from a WCF web service. If folks have other recommendations for bindings that we could consider, please share.

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Mobility: Add Keyboard Support to Compact Framework Apps by Trapping Windows Messages

The Compact Framework Control class doesn't provide direct access to Windows messages. However, with P/Invoke, a few lines of native code, and the Compact Framework MessageWindow class, it's still possible to access underlying Windows messages. This can be used to work around any .NET Framework features, including keyboard support, that are not included in the Compact Framework.

The Full Width Asterisk (U+FF0A) can be entered for folder names in document libraries and file names.  Yet when you attempt to open files with this character, or files in a folder with this character, the url does not resolve. VS 2010: no Entity Framework or LINQ support for SQL Server 2000 SQLOLEDB connection?

Hello, I'm working with Visual Studio 2010 and for Data Connections am connecting to a SQL Server 2000 production database. When I try to drag a table to a .dbml file, the Object Relational Designer says, "The selected object(s) use an unsupported data provider."If I try to create an .edmx file via Generate from database, then the alert is, "This server version is not supported. You must have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later."So VS 2010 has no support for the Data Entity Framework or LINQ when connecting to a SQL Server 2000 database? If that is the case, what is the best data access strategy for this scenario?

.NET Framework 4 installs, but .NET4 Applications won't run and verification fails

I have the same problem described in following thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/netfxsetup/thread/d8601382-83a4-4039-a71b-3b68dcdc6e26 I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate I installed the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile and even tried installing the FULL/Extended edition the install appears to go in just fine, no errors or anything. Once I try to run a program it fails to work, I tried to verify my .NET4 installation using this tool... http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx It ALWAYS fails the verification no matter how many times I uninstall/clean up and reinstall... Differences between Silverlight and WCF(Full Framework) drawning

I have created a "Layout Editor" in Silverlight where the user can drag and drop text and image to create a custom layout. A sample of a Layout with one TextBlock can be seen here . The used font is Arial, size 50. This layout (not the image, but the layout itens properties like x,y,font, etc) is upload to the server by a WCF Service, which create the actual image and save it in the database. This is necessary because the text fields can have dynamic text, marked as '%text1', '%text2', where that dynamic values are in the database too. But, when i use the Bitmap and Graphics classes of the full .NET framework the DrawString method resulting drawning don't have the same aspect that your silverlight "counterpart". A result of the server generate image can ben seen here . Anyone can tell me if it is a resolution problem or something? I can't got a single clue about this.   PS: If it is possible, move to the corresponding forum section. I use Silverlight UI, WCF communication and GDI+ drawning, so used WCF forum.

SNMP support in .NET framework 3.5

Does .NET 3.5 support SNMP?

I know 2.0 doesn't support. Wondering if any future version will support if 3.5 doesn't support.

How to detecting Whether .Net Framework 4.0 Full/Client is available.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full can indicate whether .Net 4.0 is installed. But "the reg key exists" doesn't necessary mean .Net Framework is available.

For example, on Vista/Win7, if .net framework is installed, but user hasn't reboot the os as promoted, the reg key exists, but .net application failed to run.

Is there any way for C++ application to detecting whether .Net Framework 4.0 available?
