Where should I add the custom login page. is that login page doesnt exist in the 14\template\_layouts dierctory, it shows  http not found error if i use custom membership provider for fba with a  custom login page, what are the steps to make this web appln with the custom login page as the landing page.

any help is appreciated.

Duplicate field name error, creating new site from custom template

I've made a site that maps the site (with a table of contents) and i export it to another site collection. I'm able to install and activate the solution in the other site collection, however when i'm going to create a new site using the site i've installed as a template it pops an error saying "A duplicate field name Wiki_x0020_Page_x0020_CategoriesTaxHTField" was found." I have no clue what this means. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance

Error creating a normal Custom List

I am using the normal sharepoint screans to create a custom list. When I click create it falls over with

'w3wp.exe (0X2254) 0X2C80 CMS Publishing 8Ztg Medium Got list item version, but item was null. ' on the log files.

This is a publishing template site with no VS custom list definitions.
This is just a normal site.

What can i do to rectify this.

The page cannot be displayed error when creating new item in custom list

Hi i am workign with a cutom list and every time i try to add a new item and hit ok i get the error shown below. Sometimes it happens and other times it doesnt and it only happens with a select few. One way of getting around this error is to not edit it on the page on which it is on but to go to view all content then to the custom list.

I have tried observing whether there was an issue with the pages being checked in and checked out but all pages were checked in and published. I tried deleting and recreating the custom list and no luck. Your feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks in advanced

btw i am a user with full control and our site is being hosted.

The page cannot be displayed

Error when creating a custom site template

In VS 2010, I created a new SP project to create a custom site template.

W/O modifying the content, except setting the output path of the webtemp file to another language, I have the following error when I try to create a site based on this template :

failed to instantiate file "default.master" from module "defaultmasterpage": source path "default.master" not found

I've taken a look at OOB site templates, and I don't see what is missing.

I'd appreciate any help.

Creating a custom Workflow + Custom workflow task + complete = error

Hi everyone,

I am using a custom workflow in SharePoint 2010, with one task in it using a Custom Content type deriving from the "Workflow Task" type, with a custom Edit form.

From this point everything is fine, I can create my Task, open it from the task list with my custom webpage as form, but when I want to update my task to complete it, i get a very weird message that I didn't find any help about: "The workflow's parent item associated with this task is currently in the recycle bin, which prevents the task from being completed".

I Just have my Custom workflow using a Custom Workflow task, I don't see where this should come from... I even looked in the Recycle Bin, but it was empty as I was thinking it would be...

Any chances someone got a solution on this?

Cheers, Ben

Creating custom Intellisense-based text editor like Pex for Fun

We would like to create a custom text editor which allows our end users to enter .Net code that hooks into our .Net API with Intellisense similar to how it is done on the Pex for Fun website: http://www.pexforfun.com/

Is there a way to build a custom control text editor (or use a 3rd party free or purchased control) that supports .Net Intellisense  in the same way done by Microsoft on the Pex for Fun website?

How to automatically enable web part connections when creating a publishing page based on a custom p

I have created a simple custom page layout in SharePoint Designer, added a couple of web part zones, and a custom web part on each zone.

These web parts have a custom provider-consumer set of interfaces. I configured the connection between the web parts in SharePoint Designer (using Add Connection wizard), and saved the page layout.

After that, I checked in the layout and approved it in SP's web interface.

Finally, I created a Publishing Page based on my layout, but the connection between the web parts was not set. I can set the connection manually and it works fine, but I would like the connection to be automatically set on each page I create based on the layout.

Is this the expected behavior? If so, is there a way to configure the connection automatically either programmatically or declaratively?

Is there a step I'm missing?

Claims Based Authentication and Custom Apps in _layouts Directory

Hello everyone,

When we originally setup our SharePoint 2010 installation, we used Windows Classic Authentication. We have since built a couple of custom applications using VS2010 and deployed them to the _layouts directory. These apps query information from our ERP system and display them on a web page. We keep this inside of SharePoint to be consistent with the look and feel of the rest of the intranet.

We had a consultant come in to help with some other items with our SharePoint install and we converted to Claims Based Authentication. Now, when trying to use these custom applications, they ask for a username and password when you submit the information to query. When you provide the info, it does not authenticate and fails after three attempts. Does anyone know what additional steps are necessary for these apps to use the Claims Based Security Tokens? I've scoured the internet for two days looking for answers and haven't come up with anything useful.

Custom Control Design-Time SiteMap Provider Error

Greetings - I was referred here by MSDN forums hope this is the right place -

I have a custom control (:WebControl) that renders web.sitemap in a specific way. While it runs error free and produces the expected result, at Design-Time it complains

Error Creating Control - MyControl The provider 'AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider' specified for the defaultProvider does not exist in the providers collection.

I have discovered that the error is cause by this line of code:

string div = string.Format("<div class='{0}' id='{1}'>{2}</div>", this.CssClass, this.ID.ToString(), EnumerateNodesRecursive(SiteMap.RootNode, level));

or more specifically, by the reference to SiteMap.RootNode - I am not clear what is missing thoough because I have configured the SiteMapProvider in web.config as this:

        <add name="AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider"
             type="System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider, System.Web, Version=2.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"

Custom Control Design view error

I have created a custom control from scratch and it works fine as in you can build the project that uses it and it works fine at runtime. Problem is when you go to design view the control shows an error in the place of where the control should be rendered.

Error: '<SomeValue>' Could not be set to '<SomeProperty>'

This shows up on all my custom set properties. These properties are created as basic as possible. I can give the properties values in Source view and run the app just fine. I can even add a Onclick event. If I don't set any custom properties the control will render fine in Design view. It's only when I set a value to a custom property.

Property Code Example:

public string Text
                string ret = "";
                object obj = ViewState["Text"];
                if (obj != null)
                    ret = obj.ToString();
                return ret;
                ViewState["Text"] = value;

I've even removed the Category and Description tags with no difference.

I don't know if what I said makes sens, but I hope it
