VS2010 setup using Framework 2.0 failed

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

When I tried to deploy the project using DotNet 2.0 using VS2010, it failed and no error message. I make sure all the Framework checkboxes have 2.0 checked. In the prerequisies window, I only checked the installer 3.1. In the Detected Dependencies, The Microsoft .NET Framework is 2.0. The development and target PCs are both XP - SP3. When I unpack the .msi file in the target PC and run the application, it crashed.

The only way to make that work is to use VS2005 to perform the setup. Of course, copying the files over to the target PC directory works. So, the VS2010 setup is unpacking something at the target that makes it crash. VS2010 fixed the code-behind fatal bugs and I cannot go back to VS2005 or VS2008.

I also noticed that you need to install 3.5 before you can use 2.0 in VS2010... Anybody knows what is going on ?

Great you've had a .NET Framework Setup Issue and now want some help getting to the bottom of it

This should be the first stop in determining what is happening to your machine. When posting please follow the steps at the following blog post: http://blogs.msdn.com/aaronru/archive/2007/12/10/what-to-do-when-you-go-to-post-a-setup-and-deployment-issue-on-the-msdn-forums.aspx

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET F

I downloaded the the .Net Framework 3.5 from Microsoft and I am trying to install the .Net Framework 3.5 in a clean Windows Vista Ultimate installation but it fails. The dd_dotnetfx35error file shows:   [03/08/08,19:05:35] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS). Net Framework 1.0 Error 1904 during setup mscoree.dll H-result 2146232576

I cleaned off all my .Net framework files with the .Net framework cleaner. I then started at 3.5, installed it, went well, installed 3.0, went well, installed 2.0, went well, installed 1.1, went well, then, tried to install 1.0 redistribution package for my windows xp home and it stopped at almost the very end saying ERROR installing 1.0 ERROR 1904 system32\mscoree.dll failed to register. H-result 2146232576. I tried renaming it and installing the 1.0 again but still get the same error. i tried using the IGNORE option, it said it installed but i know the mscoree.dll isn't working. i used the installer cleanup tool also to no avail. i deleted the URTTemp folder and tried a reinstall. This didn't work either. Anyone know what I might can do to get this corrected? I have not done anything myself in the registry. I have used RegCure and registry mechanic but Net Framework 1.0 still gave the error when I tried to install. Any help appreciated. I did read something about 1.1, 2.0,3.0 or 3.5 might have a newer mscoree.dll file and that night be why I can't register the one I have. I need the 1.0 version 3705 though as one of my programs uses it. Also, i am now not able to put any of the updates on my computer. it downloads them but they fail to install. Example, net framework 2.o service pack 2, net framework 3.5 service pack 1, and net framework 3.5 family update. Thanks....

SQL Server Express 2008 Setup fails. Support Rule "Restart Computer" Failed

Hi, I have been trying to install SQL Server Express for most of the day now without any luck.  Whatever I do setup fails at the stage of Setup Support Rules, Rule "Restart Computer" - Failed.  Needles to say I have restarted (several times!) and I have tried downloading  and installing the "Advanced", "Tools" and "Basic" versions, all give the same error.  Trying a repair does the same.  I have been searching the net for an answer without success, any help would be MUCH appreciated. Further info: I am trying to install a stand-alone installation on to a single PC running under XP SP 3 with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.  The PC did have some earler versions of SQL server installed but I (?hopefully?) removed all of these through Control Panel.  Before trying the first SQL install I installed Windows installer 4.5 and PowerShell 1.0 as per the Microsoft Instructions. Running SQL Server Configuration Manager results in an error (MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap in might not have been installed correctly).  A directory structure for SQL server exists in "Program Files".  Services MSC shows SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) as Automatic Statup (not running).  Trying to start this manually gives error 14001: "application configuration incorrect - re-install to fix" .......... Which is precisely what I'm trying to do.........:(

SQL2008 Standard setup failed. The performance counter registry hive is corrupted.

OS: Windows7 Ultimate 64bit (Traditional Chinese HKSAR) SQL: SQL Sever2008 RC2 Standard English (either x86 or x64) I have searched for answers on the web, tried all of them and still cannot get pass. 1. manually rebuild Performance Counter Library values as suggested in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956/en-us 2. string test = string.Format ("{0,3}", CultureInfo.InstalledUICulture.Parent.LCID.ToString ("X")).Replace (" ", "0"); which shows "31748" for me, added it under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib (with values from 009) 3. C:\windows\systrem32\lodctr /r to rebuild counters.   The error just won't go. Actually, I just want to use the management studio to connect to SQL Server2008.. Is there a way to install only the management studio? I am willing to give up installing SQL Server2008 on my Windows7.   Thanks in advance.

Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate setup failed

The Microsoft .NET Framework 4 step failed when I tried to install VS 2010 on my Win XP SP3. Message: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Installation Has Failed"

On a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server, I have been unable to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64. When running setup.exe, I almost instantaneously receive the following Microsoft SQL Server Setup error:"Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed.SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework to be installed."What does not make sense is that I successfully downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft download site (published 8/11/2008) prior to the SQL Server 2008 installation attempt.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=enI do need to note that a few nights ago, prior to downloading the framework (3.5 SP1), I ran the SQL Server 2008 setup executable. I was prompted that in order to install SQL Server 2008, the setup program needed to first install .NET 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5. I let the .NET 3.5 SP1 install run for about 1.5 to 2 hours and cancelled (now I wish I had just let it go).It is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong) that the SQL Server 2008 setup program initially checks for any pre-RTM versions of .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework. If one is found, it is then supposed to guide the user through both the installation of the .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework and Windows Installer 4.5. I have removed .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework (Add/Remove programs) and rebooted. However, upon runni

Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Getting some errors after implementing the calendar control.  Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.  Here are some screenshots of the relevant info:   Here's the scenario...  I compile code locally, view the pages in a browser locally, and it all works fine.  Another developer sits down at my machine, logs in with AD account (which create a local profile for his account on my machine), and gets these errors when viewing my locally compiled code.  He then compiles the same code on my machine again just for a test, but still gets the same errors.  Can anyone come up with any good reasons for this behavior?  I put a call into MS and they suggested creating a new profile for the other developer with the errors since this appeared to be profile specific.  Tried doing that with the same results.  Help!

VS2010 seems to target wrong framework

I have a simple website which is fine if I target .Net 4, but if I select the target framework as 3.5, it seems to incorrectly target .Net 2.0? Switching back and forth between 3.5 and 4.0 targets actually results in the pages (via showing System.Environment.Version.ToString()), and the Dev Webserver itself (via double-clicking on the system tray icon), reporting 4.0 when targetted for 4.0, and 2.0 when targetted at 3.5. All versions of .Net are installed on my machines, and I have reproduced this on 2 separate machines, one with VS2010 Pro, and the other with Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? Thanks for any help Ade

How to setup Query Result Shaping for LinQ to SQL instead of Entity Framework?

Hi, I am new to this, and I am trying to implement a linq query similar to db.Genres.Include("Albums") command from mvc music store using my current DB setup. I realize that the tutorial mentions Checlking the "Include foreign key columns in the method" when creating the tables in ADO.NET, but if I am using LINQ to SQL classes, then how can I obtain the same effect. And how do I use db.Genres.Include("Albums") to simplify my life? Thanks

After enabling routing, get 'Ajax client-side framework failed to load"

Hopefully someone's come across this before... After I try using routing on my web form & load my page I get a few javascript errors one after the other: Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.Error: 'Type' is undefinedError: 'Sys' is undefinedError: Object expectedError: 'Sys' is undefined   After fooling with this for awhile, I created a blank aspx page. It loaded fine. I drop a scriptmanager on the page & the errors above pop up. I've been using ajax controls up until this point, & they work just fine when I comment out my routing code so I know the toolkit is not corrupt. Its gotta be a config issue...just not sure where to go. It's a .net 4 web app on IIS7   Here's the code I added to my global.asax:void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)        {            routes.MapPageRoute("PageRouting","{department}","~/Subweb.aspx");        }protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)        {            RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);        }   In my web.config I added the assembly: &

Setup Error - Failed to load resources from resource file

I tried to install The Lord of the Rings Online, but it always gives me the message (translated in english) that i need to install Net Framwork v1.1.4322. "ok, that's no problem" i thought, but every time i try to install Net Framework (any version) there are errors when trying to install it. With the 1.1 setup, it tells me "Setup Error - Failed to load resources from resource file", the 2.0 setup tells me that it is already installed (o.O?) but i can't see it in the "uninstall programs" list and the 3.0 and 3.5 just won't start. Nothing happens. I tried to install Net framework 4.0 beta which works fine but LotRO keeps telling me the same error message (i think because version 1.1 isn't included in higher versions)I'm running Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate: 2GB Ram, Intel Core duo e6750, GeForce 8800 gts (512 mb)Please help me :)
