I'm having trouble in Designer 2007.  I can not open any sites files on sites on our prodution server.  I get "Couldn't open file ..........aspx".  On our development server I can't even open sites.  I get "Invalid folder name".  Can anyone please advise?  I have seen other posts about this behavior, but none of the solutions have worked for me.  I've uninstalled Expression Web, I don't have Front Page installed, and I ran a repair installation on Designer.  Still no luck.  Any ideas please?

can't open sharepoint site with sharepoint designer 2010

Hi there, We've installed SP Foundation + SP Server 2010 and set up some sites. when we tried to open it with SP Designer 2010, it fails and gave us some errors. opening SPD through site actions : unable to open website. possible causes: 1. the web server may not have sharepoint server installed 2. the web server may be temporarily out of service 3. if you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect 4. an error may have occured in the web server opening sharepoint site through SPD: the folder 'http://mysp.domain.com/site/default.aspx' isn't accessible. the folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a / or \. the thing is ... we have no problem with sharepoint designer 2007. any idea?

Unable to open a site in Sharepoint Designer

I am trying to connect my SharePoint Designer 2007 to sharepoint sites on a remote Windows Server 2003 created on ports other than 80. But it throws an error "The folder ['http://servername:12345/'] isn't accessible. The folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a / or \."

But when I try to connect the port 80, it successfully does.

Can't open site in sharepoint designer after migration

I moved  a client's WSS 3.0 instance (application and databases) from a Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 environment.

After the move, the sites look ok in internet explorer and seem to be working fine via the intended url "sps.clientswebsite.com".  However, I am now unable to open the site in sharepoint designer 2007.  I only have access to the new sharepoint server itself, so that is the only computer I have tried connecting via SPD on.  When I open Sharepoint designer, click open site, then type the address "sps.clientswebsite.com" I get the message:

-----------------------

http://sps.clientswebsite.com/

Path does not exist.

Check the path and try again.

----------------------

I get the same when trying to open any individual aspx page from SPD's "Open" dialog by copying and pasting in a page's url.

If, however, I open up a site in internet explorer and, for example, go to site settings > galleries > masterpages and then choose "Edit in Microsoft Office Sharepoint Designer" I get a different error:

--------------------

The server could not complete your request. Contact your Internet service provider or Web server administrator to make sure that the server has the FrontPage Server Extensions or Sha

How to open Sharepoint 2010 Site in Sharepoint 2010 Designer?

Hi,

I'm trying to open my site in sharepoint designer 2010.

I've read a forum that in order to open it in the Sharepoint designer, you must extend your web app. After i've extended my web app my site can now be open in sharepoint designer. But when i've close it then tried to open it again. It wasn't opening again. No error message or anything. Then i've tried to open my Web app extension it promt "Path does not exist".

Does any body know how to resolve this problem?

Thanks! :)

SharePoint Designer can't open defaul.aspx page

I tried to edit the default.aspx page of a WSS 3.0 site using SharePoint Designer and I get the following error:"The server could not complete your request.  Contact your Internet service provider or Web server administrator to make sure that the server has the FrontPage Server Extensions or SharePoint Service installed."When I click on the 'Details' button I get:"soaperverServer was unable to process request. ---> A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered as safe on this site. You may not be able to open this page in an HTML editor that is compatible with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. To fix this page, contact the site administrator to have the Web Part or Web Form Control configured as safe. "I don't have any custom built Web Parts installed and I checked the web.config file to make sure that other parts are marked as safe.The weird thing is that I can successfully edit other default.aspx files on sub-sites  Thanks for any help

How to directly open activity on rehosted designer

Hello Everyone,      Let's say you have a rehosted designer that contains activities within activities.  Some of these activities are not shown on the designer because of the nesting.  Now lets say you know the name of one of the hidden nested activities and want to programmatically open the DesignView to this one activity.  How would one do this?  I was thinking about creating a miniature visual tree showing every activity in the workflow.  Clicking on an item in this mini-tree would open the main designer to that activity, this would allow for quick navigation to deeply nested activities.  Is this possible, or am I hopelessly delusional?  I'm thinking the tree itself could be fairly easily built from the xaml text itself, however causing the designer window to switch to an arbitrary activity view may be another matter. Thanks in advance everyone, Bob

No permission to open a list pages in Sharepoint Designer 2007

We have a sharepoint site with two main lists.

List 1: I could open the pages, make changes BUT cannot create workflows (for the site).
List 2: I could not even open it. I get the message
"You do not have permission to do this operation. Ask your web site administrator to change your permission and try again, or log on with user account that has this permission ...."

I am secondary server administrator and also have 'full control' of the site.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Generated MainWindow.xaml crashes VS2010 when you open the designer

In my system which is running Windows 7 Enterprise X64 I have a problem viewing some XAML files. At least one of my project XAML files sometimes crashes VS2010 if I open it in the designer or try to view it with Internet Exlorer 8 or Windows Presentation Foundation host. It also happens if i try to display the MainWindow.xaml that is generated by VS 2010.

The contents of MainWindow.xaml are

<Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainWindow"
        xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
        xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
        Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525">
    <Grid>

    </Grid>
</Window>

If I open the debugger when IE8 crashes, the failing stack frame is iefdm2.dll!03992071()

I assume it is some sort installatioin snafu or something but I would hate to have to re-install everything.

Can anybody suggest what the issue might be?

Can no longer upload any files to the site via Sharepoint Designer

Greetings.

My colleague is using Sharepoint Designer with MOSS 2007. She made a folder in the site root and is putting pictures of employees there in order to show them in profiles. Suddenly, this morning, she can no longer do it. She can create new folders, rename them, etc, but if she tries to upload any file anywhere via the Designer, a message will instantly pop up (as usual, message is in russian, with no error code...) complaining about "connection time out" or "connection lost" or something. Of course, since she can still rename folders etc, the connection is just fine.

We tried iisreset and reboot of the pc running the designer but it didnt help. Still we cannot upload any file anymore.

More than that, previously she could upload files with going into a document library, then using an option to "open in explorer", then a windows explorer windows would pop up, showing the address of the sharepoint site folder in adress bar, like "http://sharepointsrv/sites/portal/Sharepoint/" and allowing to copy files into it, and those files copied there would then appear on the server in the doc library. But now copying files this way also does nothing.

All we remember doing fro

Cannot open Sharepoint Designer 2010. Side by side configuration is incorrect.

This happens only on my desktop and laptop. When I try to open any site using "edit with sharepoint designer", I get the following message.

"c:\program files\Microsoft office\office 14\spdesign.exe

The application has failed to start becuase its side by side configuration is incorrect."

The site I am trying to open is a SPS 2010 site. Even if I try to open the application without trying to open the site, I get the same message. I have reinstalled Office 2010 and SPD 2010 but with no luck. Any advise.

Closed form designer window in VS 2008, now cannot open again

I closed the Form1.Designer.vb tab in VS 2008.  If I click on Form1.vb in the Solution Explorer the View Designer button does not appear.  How can I open the designer window again?

Hi everybody,

I have a custom list, lets call it MyList (http://myserver/Lists/MyList/) with several fields in it.

How to Establish a Remote Web Site Connection in SharePoint Designer 2007

I am modifying a SharePoint site and so far so good.  Some of the objects were created using Visual Studio 2008 (C#).  I was able to modify these objects and implement them on the targete machine without issue.  The final step is to implement the ASPX pages that were modified using SharePoint Designer 2007.  These are aspx pages that are used to modify items in lists.  All the pages involved in this upgrade are customized.  I need to upgrade the target site with the modified version of these pages.  My intent is to copy the code from the page in the source site and past it into the same page on the target site.  I tried using the Remote Web Site connection tool in SharePoint Designer 2007 but received the following error message:

"Unable to open 'https://(site address)'.  Server Error:  Could not find a Web server at 'website'.  Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly.  If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I am not sure how to first check to see if the Web Server is temporarily out of service.  I would appreciate your input on how to verify this.

Background information of target machine:  WinServer 2008, IIS 7, Sharepoint (MOSS2007), site on port 80
