ASP.NET 2.0: Speed Up Your Site with the Improved View State in ASP.NET 2.0

View state is a wonderful thing. It allows the ASP.NET developer to maintain state for server-side controls that are not form elements.Used judiciously, it can improve the user experience. But in the wrong hands, it can cause your pages to grind to a halt. The release of ASP.NET 2.0 will include a variety of improvements to view state that will make it easier to use and less likely to slow performance.

RenderAction failing in site.master, but works in a view

Hi, I have a master page into which I'm inserting a 'Search' partial view, which I've called 'pSearch.ascx'. I need to pass in a model to make some data available to pSearch, so I am using RenderAction from the site.master page, which then should call a [ClientActionOnly] Action on the 'Home' controller, called SearchPartial(), which in turn returns the pSearch view.Code from site.master:    <% Html.RenderAction("SearchPartial", "Home"); %>Code from HomeController.cs: (the method is virtual because I'm using T4MVC in the project)        [ChildActionOnly]        public virtual ActionResult SearchPartial()        {            return View(MVC.Curious.Views.pSearch);        }This is the error: "No route in the route table matches the supplied values."However, when I remove this line from site.master & insert the IDENTICAL RenderAction() call into one of my view pages, it works fine.I've been pulling my hair out, trying permutations of how it's called and different approaches, but can't work this one out, particularly because it works in a view page based on site.master, but not in site.master itself. Can anyone suggest why it wouldn't

Cannot access parent site list from subsite in XSLt List View webpart in sharepoint designer 2010

Hi    We are using sharepoint 2010  for internet facing sites for our big client in healthcare domain .  I am using XSLT list view webpart in sharepoint designer 2010 for retrieving contents from sharepoint list & displaying it by using XSLT List view webpart in publishing sites. We are having lot of list in rootsite collection, If i am creating pages by using XSLt list view webpart in root site collection I can access the list,View and Display in Pages by XSLT List view webpart. Now the requirement is i have to access the list in roosite collection(parent site) from subsites.  In Sharepoint designer 2010, while i am inserting XSLT list view webpart, i could not find datasource to access the list that exist in rootsite collection(Parent site) from subsite. Below is the the code i am using for accessing the list& view from parent site & creating the pages in parent site by using xslt list view webpart, now i wants to access parent site list from subsite by using XSLT list view webpat in subsite pages.  Pls let me know what i have to change in the code level <WebPartPages:XsltListViewWebPart runat="server" Description="The list for the conditions details" ListDisplayName="" PartOrder="2" Default="FALSE" HelpLink="" AllowRemove="True" IsVisible="True" All

Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. View All Site Content Showing the wrong number of items

NOTE:  Similar post also had no answer: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointecm/thread/f775ba0d-648f-4be3-9017-78539915b281/ I am the Site Collection Administrator/and also tried logging in using Farm Account.  I go into View All Site Content and I show 15 documents.  When you actually go to the All Items view (and I double-checked, no filtering), you only find 9 documents.  Versioning is not turned on.  I am a developer, so I also used the Web Service to try to troubleshoot.  The Lists.asmx web service shows an Item Count of 15 using the GetList method.  However, using the GetListItems method, the item Count reports 9 items, which is what I see in my browser. Is there an stsadm command that I can run that will "true up" this number being reported in View All Site Content? Thanks in advance. - Update -  MOSS 2007 v 3.0 server farm.

Using a List View web part to display documents from multiple document libraries from different site

Hi there, I am trying to have one web part display documents (or list items) from different document libraries (or different lists) from different site collections. I have achieved this under a single site collection using Data View Web Part (using SPD). I have also achieved displaying a single document library (or a list) from a different site collection by using List View Web Part. but I am not sure how to get my head around displaying documents or list items from different document libraries or lists across site collections. I have thought of using SPSiteDataQuery or ListViewByQuery, but they all seem to focus one site collection at a time. If any of you have done this before, please share your best practice on this one with me. Much appreciated. Clark

Hide View all site content link in Site Actions.

I had remove "View all site content" in left navigation bar, but i don't know how to hide "View all site content" link in Site Actions.

I don't want to hide "Site Actions", just to hide "View all site content" in "Site Actions" menu.

Any help is highly appreciated.

SharePoint Web Part to View List in Different SharePoint Site

I am working on SharePoint 2010 instance. I want to be able to view list content in the SharePoint site that this list doesn't belong to. My site does not even share the same site collection as the one containing the list. Is this possible without the custom SharePoint solution coding? Thanks.

Hide view all site content from the public

I just wanted to know how I can hide "View All Site Content" from the public only (read-only) access.

Thanks in advance.

How do I view all content of the root site in my collection?

Since the Quick Launch menu is not part of the home page of a site collection, how do I gain access to the View All Site Content list?

"View Reports" Option is missing from the "Site Actions" Dropdown - Please help!!!!

I have users who have contribute rights on one Document Lib and View only on another, but the option to view the reports is not under their site actions menu. We need to check in multiple documents by running the report of "All documents checked out to me"? Why would this occur for onlyone persons profile????
