Database temporary corruption - DBCC CHECKDB error

I've run into a very strange and frustrating recurring error. I have a Single instance SQL Server 2005 DBMS on Win2K3 Server x86.  The problem occurs with a *single* database on the system, the other databases are unaffected.  We primarily access this database for editing through an Access 2007 data project, though it's accessed (select only) from many places using odbc or oledb. Basically some sort of corruption (or apparent corruption) occurs after a server update and reboot (usually unrelated to the DB software).  After that, the database is fine sometimes, other times it is fine until we try to access it via the ADP.  At that point it becomes inaccesssible by the ADP, though it can still be accessed through all other methods.  Running DBCC CHECKDB (databasename) returns: Msg 211, Level 23, State 51, Line 1 Possible schema corruption. Run DBCC CHECKCATALOG. Running DBCC CHECKCATALOG (databasename) returns no errors. Restarting the database service (from inside SSMS typically) will fix it *eventually* after a few restarts.  I can find no rhyme or reason to the apparent corruption.  I'll be glad to look and post any other log entries that might be relevant.  I should note that the database was originally created way back in SQL Server 7, though it's got no real customizations, triggers, and very few constraints on it.  It's

domain/user is a domain administrator and also a local administrator and is the currently logged in user.  This failure is happening as part of A Citrix XenApp 6.0 configuration which was started as an Administrator

A Google search for
"The Windows account" "does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator"
Came up with absolutely nothing.

A Google search for -2068578304 failed to find anything, which did not surprise me.

-2068578304 translates into hex as 84B40000.

A Google search for 84B40000

Comes up with a fair few different textual descriptions with the same error code, which I am wading through.

Any help would be welcome.  I am also asking my friends at Citrix.

With thanks in advance.

Error Adding 2nd Cluster Node - Account Name Box Greyed Out

I am in the process of setting up a 2008 R2 SQL cluster using SQL 2008 R2.  I have the first node up and running, and all is well.  Going through the process to the add the 2nd node, I am stuck.

At the part where you configure the SQL service accounts, the SQL server agent account is greyed out.  Hovering your mouse over it shows that field as "Read-Only"  The box for the password you can type in, so I went ahead and put in the password I used for the account on the first node.  (it's a domain account with the corect privledges).  On the database engine section it lets me select my domain account and then I put in the password.  Clicking next gives me an error stating that the "Credentials you provided for the SQL Server Agent service are invalid."

I know the password is correct, but without the accout name box being greyed out, I am not sure it is pointing to the right account.  Other people too are having this issue:  http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsetupandupgrade/thread/aae80395-7d29-4a07-a1b7-29959e78d382   What is marked as a solution on that thread really isn't.  Follow up posts show other people at the same spot I am.

Windows PGM socket access error with non-admin account

Hi,

I'm trying to use PGM sockets to send data. I can listen and receive data fine from a PGM socket using a non-admin account, but when I try to create a socket to send data I get an exception at this step:

socket.Bind(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 0));

The exception is:

An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions

Note that if I run the same code under an admin account it works fine. Is there a way to create a sender PGM socket without running under an admin account?

Error during installation of SQL Server 2005 when typing the domain account

I am installing SQL Server 2005 on a server (Windows Server Enterprise Edition 2003 SP2) that is not domain controller and on the screen "Service Account" I checked the box "Customize for each service account" and typed a domain account (it has permission to "logon as a service"), its password and domain, and when I click the "Next" button, I am getting the error below:

"SQL Server Setup could not validate the service accounts. Either the service accounts have not been provided for all of the services being installed, or the specified username or password is incorrect. For each service, specify a valid username, password, and domain, or specify a built-in system account. "

What's happening? Why is this error occurring? What I have to do for this error does not occur?

Thanks for any help me to solve this problem

(Note : Excuse me because my English isn't very good !)

DBCC error and Log Files

Running SQL Server 2008 Standard - I am getting a DBCC error from Symantec Backup Exec.   What is the best place to start figuring how to fix this?   Also, I want to check the log files to be certain they are being truncated during backup.  Notes on when this was installed do not show where the log files are located.  How can I tell what drive and folder they are located.

Shared Services account error

While troubleshooting an error in SharePoint 2007 I went to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage this Farm's Shared Services. I then pointed at SharedServices 64bit (Default) and clicked on the down arrow to bring up the menu. I selected Edit Properties and got the folowing error:

An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: The specified account name is invalid.
Parameter name: account

It would appear as though an account is not set properly but I don't know were to go to change it. Ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Emjay

Hi,

I've developed a SQL webservice which works absolutely fine on the server but it doesn't work on my VMware. It generates following error:

Service Account Selection Error 'The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary do

Hi Guys,

I am trying to setup the first node in a SQL failover cluster. When selecting a service account, from the domain, for any of the SQL services during setup I recieve the following error:

  • Error in User Account - <user sid> 'The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed'

Thus far I have tried:

  1. Creating seperate accounts in the domain for each service, any account fails other than the built-in domain 'Administrator .'
  2. Reset the computer account in order to rule out secure channel failure between computer account and workstation.
  3. Netdiag/DC Diag tests on the domain - all of which were fine.
  4. Tested other Windows 2000/2003 servers joined to the domain for issues - there are no auth/domain issues elsewhere.
  5. Confirmed the correct binding order in the network settings on the cluster nodes.
  6. As a side note, I am able to logon to the server as a domain account - I am logged on as a Domain Admin account.

More information about setup:

  • Windows 2008 R2 x64 Cluster with all Windows Updates (hosted on vSphere)
  • SQL Server 2008 Standard
  • Windows 2000 Active Directory (Forest Function Level: Windows 2000 / Domain Function Level: Windows 2000)

During Install get "No mapping between account names and security IDs" error when picking domain acc

Test environment with 2008 servers set up from an image I've taken of a win 2008 r2 sp1 server. I restore that image to a vmware virtual machine, set up a domain controller and added the service accounts I'm going to use later for my sql 2008 r2 install.

Then I take the same image, restore it to another new virtual machine, rename it, give it a new ip address, reboot, join it to the domain, reboot, and begin the SQL install.

On the Server Configuration step, when I click the account name drop down and pick <<browse...>> It opens the "select user, computer, or group" dialog and I enter in [domain]\[login] for the service account and click "check names". It resolves that into the "[login] ([login]@[FQDN])" line. I click ok.

I get the "S-1-5-XX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-1104: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done." error.

The frustrating part is if I create a new virtual machine win 2008 r2 server from scratch and start the SQL install and use the same login, no error and I can continue with the install.

I'm stuck, can I not create images and use them in this manner?

Configuring linked server for a service account - error authenticating

I am trying to run a report through SSRS 2008 web interface.  The credentials that are being used to execute the report are through a service account.  The point of using a service account was so that the subscriptions feature could be used.  However, two particular reports connect directly though a linked server to an excel workbook.  I get the following error when I try to execute the report:

  • An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
    • Query execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
      • The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "YTWCHECK" reported an error. Authentication failed. Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "YTWCHECK".

How can I correctly add my service account to the linked server?
