Data Collector - SQL Server Waits Report

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

In the Data Collector SQL Server Waits Report, in both the graph and table reports, there is a Wait Time measurement and it shows (ms/sec).  What exactly does that mean?  I see that it carries out to 3 digits, so does that mean it measures down to the millisecond?  Any help would be appreciated, I can't seem to find a definition.

model report from two different data sources SQL server and access DB

Can we merge two model reports into one . One model report is from SQL server and another one from Access DB. How is that possible. Can you please give a idea how to do that. I need to display data from sql server as well as access DB using model report.  I need to get data from two different sources like sql and oracle or SQL and access db. So can combine tables from these data sources into the DSV or model. I need to use it in a report   Thanks Madhavi

Data Driven Subscription problem - sub runs slowly, has 40 errors out of 300, but report server trac

I have two report servers and a single separate SQL Server 2008 server hosting the data source database and the report server catalogues. There is a data driven subscription that runs off a sproc that returns 300 rows with email addresses for this report to be emailed to. The report itself contains around 30 subreports each with its own sproc to retrieve data. As the report is executing there are long pauses between the times when emails are actually sent out, and the subscription status will finally end with something like "Done: 300 processed of 300 total; 40 errors." I am not sure how to go about troubleshooting this problem. Details: I kicked it off at (say) 2:00 PM. Within 3 minutes in the report server execution log I saw 300 entries. There were exactly 300 people who should receive reports, so the master report should have executed 300 times and sent out 300 emails. So this looked good in the execution log. But when I checked report manager's status page for the subscription it was listed as processing 50 out of 300... Then all activity stopped, about 15 minutes some more reports started emailing out, and now I see there are around 590 rows in the execution log and maybe 97 emails sent out... Then finally I get a grand total of 846 rows in the execution log and a grand total of 260 of 300 emails sent out with 40 errors so 260+40=300 exactly. The time betw

SQL Server 2008 R2 Disk Usage report showing incorrect data file

When I go to ANY database (System, AdventureWorks*, user) in Managemant Studio, I right-click on the db, select Reports, select Standard Reports, and select Disk Usage.  The disk usage report shows the correct db on top, but always only shows AdventureWorks_Data.mdf when I expand Disk Space Used by Data Files section.  This happens to any db I try.  When I look at Database Properties/Files for that database, the logical and physical file names are correct.

Since the correct files appear in Database Properties/Files, I'm hoping it's just a bug in the report.  Same thing happens if I run a Disk Usage by Table report for ANY database,  The tables for AdventureWorks always only appear,

SQL Server 2008 R2 Data Collector for multiple servers.

Hello all,

I'm working as a intern and have been maintaining a performance monitoring application for my companies servers and wanted to know if "Performance Data Collector" could do the job for us(and that I've spent the last month working on...) I ran across an article(http://www.simple-talk.com/sql/learn-sql-server/sql-server-2008-performance-data-collector/ ) that seemed to describe this tool as pretty much what I've been working on.

Presently we do this:

1. Performance Monitor(perfmon.exe) logs all the performance counters we want and stores them locally on each server.

2. A client service(run on each server we monitor) takes the log files, zips them and periodically transfers them to the logging server.

3. Once on the logging server another service parses the files and bulk uploads them into a SQL Server 2008 R2 Database.

4. A SSAS cube on the logging server then processes all the data and we have our min/max/averages for the various counters.

Can I collect performance data from Windows 2008 servers that do not have SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 installed on them by using the server that is running the collector to pull the information? This would essentially b

server side does not save data when using POST data to another URL using WebRequest

Hi,
I am using a IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. I have a simple application that uses System.Net.WebRequest to POST data to another URL (in fact, the server side URL is on my local computer and it is hosted in IIS 7.5).

  1.  The problem is the server does not save data from client although on the client side codes when I debug and I see the OK message return from the code line

response.StatusDescription; // this has value of "OK"

2. How can I debug the server code side where to receive the request from client side who posts the data ?

The following is the codes for client who posts data using System.Net.WebRequest, and codes for server side who received posted data to save to database.

Client side codes: // also run on my local computer

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

Hi,

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
