Error while compiling on a 64-bit machine.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

hello,

When I compile my SharePoint 2007 solution on a 64-bit machine in Release mode and the platform set to AnyCPU or x86 I get the following error:

An attempt was made to load an assembly with an incorrect format: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\ISAPI\Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.dll.

When I use .Net Reflector on Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.dll it says the platform is set to x64. So I change my settings to Release mode and the platform to x64 and get the same error.

The strange thing is when I change Release to debug, It complies. Can anyone explain this?

I would prefer compiling with the settings Release/AnyCPU if its possible. Can anyone give me a push in the right direction?

Thanks

state machine workflow project creation error

Hi,   I have a dev environment which i had sharepoint 2007 and now i upgraded it to sharepoint 2010. Now when i try to create a state machine workflow project it gives me an error Object Reference not set to an object. I uninstalled Sharepoint extensions 1.3 (as i 64bit win2008 vm) and when i am trying to install it. In one of the installation screens where it asks for the port no  and the select the app pool it only shows the sharepoint central v3 app pool . i was expecting to have sharepoint 2010 product app pool in the drop down. I know that there should be a app pool on port 80. Since i upgraded sharepoint to 2010. I want sharepoint visual studio extensions 1.3 to point to sharepoint 80 app pool . Please can you tell me how i can do it.

Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="8.0.0.0",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight! Compiling Error

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me or point me in the right direction. I've been asked to some work on a site, I was give a cd with the code etc.  They have built the website as a web application. The site which is up and running works with out any problems but when I compile the source code I get this error:

I know that the ConfigureFromText should have the string out beforetext and string out aftertext to make it work but this is how the code has been given to me, how would this complile? Any ideas on how I could fix it? Its mainly used to search the text and place an advert in the text. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Again I have not touched any of code, just wanted to complile and run it

Thanks in advance

TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I hosted a wcf service application using windows services. When my client (ASP.NET) tries to call the service class hosted by the windows service, I get this error "TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. ". Is there a fix for this? The same code works fine if I host it using a console application.

32 bit solution gets error on 64 bit machine

I just read on another post that solutions developed on 32 bit machine will run without problem on 64 bit machine. But here is my problem.

Solution developed on windows xp, 32 bit.

Solution currently running on windows 2000 32 bit, with sql server 2003.

Migrated solution to windows server 64 bit with sql server 2008 and get following error:

could not load file or assembly microsoft.sqlserver.batchparser version 9.0.242.0.

I am learning this as I go along, working on software already partially developed. I created an install package that includes all dependencies including batchparser, but I assume it is batchparser for 32 bit. I looked on gac of target machine and batchparser is in there twice, I assume for 32 bit and 64 bit since I read that it's the only dll that you need both versions for. But I think my solution is not looking in gac, it's looking in my solution folder. Even so, I renamed the batchparser.dll in my solutions folder hoping that the program would resolve dependency by looking in gac, but it didn't work.

So what do I need to do? I think I need to put the 64 bit batchparser.dll in my solution folder and my install package, but where do I get it? I don't want to download and install the 64 bit libraries on my 32 bit development machine, and I can't find just the 64 bit batchpa

Using a Function from a Custom assembly - An unexpected error occurred while compiling expressions.

LocalReport, SQL 2005, Custom Assembly compiled in Framework 2.0, with this I can add the reference to the report.

Client  (WinForm Framework 4.0)  In the same path of my application, I have the custom assembly (that uses the report)

When I try to get the DataSources, getParameters, or SetParameters, I always get the same error. The LoadDefinition(stream) does not load anything. Any Idea?

An unexpected error occurred while compiling expressions. Native compiler return value: ‘[BC40000] 'RequestMinimum' is obsolete: 'Assembly level declarative security is obsolete and is no longer enforced by the CLR by default. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=155570 for more information.'.’.

I also tried to enable the NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy in the config of my application, and nothing change.

If I don't use the Function from the custom assembly I don't have any problem.
Thanks in advance.

Error retrieving Workflow Properties in a Custom State Machine Workflow WSS 3.0

Using Visual Studio 2008 and the Office 2008 State Machine workflow template, I created a VERY SIMPLE workflow with ONE state. In the state initialization, I create a simple task. This works fine when I hard code the title, etc for the task. But, when I need to get some properties out of the list where the workflow was started, I get an exception  I've done this in a sequential workflow and it works fine. Error is: "Value cannot be null. MFSvcUtil generated proxy files compiling error

Hi,

I have a temperature sensor running DPWS, for which I have a WSDL file; and I want to talk to it from a Win32 client.
I managed to use MFSvcUtil.exe temperature.wsdl to generate proxy files (TemperatureSensor.cs, TemperatureSensorClientProxy.cs, TemperatureSensorHostedService.cs). However, when I want to use it in my project, my VS2010 gives me the following error:
'www.xxx.yyy.zzz.TemperatureSensor.StatusDataContractSerializer.ReadObject(System.Xml.XmlReader)': no suitable method found to override (TemperatureSensor.cs ...).

My questions are:
(1) is it the correct way to use MFSvcUtil.exe to generate proxy for a normal .NET application to talk to a DPWS device?
(2) if answer is yes to Q(1), what is wrong wit

Error 348 when compiling for 64 bit

My project uses activity defined in another dll. If I compile for 32 bit everything fine but if I compile for 64 bit i get error

error 348: Compilation failed. Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.

If I move activity defined in dll to project everything compiles fine for both 32 and 64 bit.

SGEN error while building 64-bit application on a 32-bit machine

Hi,

I am using VS2010 to build a 64-bit application on a 32-bit machine with .Net framework 2.0 (32-bit) installed. When I compile the project, it gave the following error:

SGEN : error : An attempt was made to load an assembly with an incorrect format: C:\path\to\refered.dll

The 'refered.dll' exists in the folder and it is 64-bit. And I need the xmlSerializers.dll.

******

I guess it is because the sgen.exe is 32 bit on the machine and it cannot work on the 64bit dll.  Then I tried coping a 64-bit sgen.exe to the machine and let the VS call that 64bit one. But it does not work as "it is not a valid 32 bit application".

Could anyone help please? Thanks a lot
