Speed up Image loading from a thread

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

HI all,

I am facing a sluggish update on my Image control. I am using MVVM and the binding update to the Image control is pretty slow. Is there any way I can speed this process up?

I have a background thread that sends me a jpg image buffer every 100 ms. I then create an ImageSource and set that to my binding property. Other datas from the background thread seems to be up to par except for the image. Does anyone have any idea on how to improve this?

ASP:Chart Image Not Loading When Converting to PDF

Here's a nice one for a Pro to bite into I have a web form that generates a set of reports including asp chart controls. Clicking on the black title loads the report section into the ajax enabled panel below it. Beautiful! Two Problems though: Sometimes, when the ajax is loading the next report section, all the other charts on the page flicker and sometimes even show a red x (the image disappears). They can then reappear again when another chart loads! 2nd Problem: If I use the html-to-pdf converter, I tell all the panels to bind to the data source (they are repeaters) on page load and show content. I Then convert the resulting datastream to PDF. All the other images on the page load, but the ones for the charts don't. I have looked at the generated code, and they are all linked fine to the correct address of the site and the chart generator url. A sample image of the working page is below: Example PageExample PDFPage PDF is generated from     Thanks in advance! IanB

Bulk Loading an Image from URL

I know I can load an image from file system to a binary field in SQL Server : CREATE TABLE Foobar ( image_data VARBINARY(MAX)); INSERT INTO Foobar (image_data) SELECT image_data FROM OPENROWSET( BULK N'C:\image.jpg', SINGLE_BLOB) AS ImageSource(image_data); But I need to know if I can load image from a URL like 'http://www.mysite.com/test.jpg' . I tried it with no success. Any ideas?

Loading please wait image show hide

I am trying to implement the loading please wait image funtionality while controls refersh on the page. Here are steps I have taken:

1. Added the image to the .net solution file in the image folder.
2. Added a div with the hidden class that holds the image source on the webform.

Image loads hidden by default and I am trying to show it when any postback or partial post back occurs. There are several controls like dropdowns, checboxes, gridview etc and links in the gridview that could take a few moments to load so I want to display the loading please wait while they reload after selections are made. All Controls exist in the update panel. I can't figure out how to show the image and hide it again when controls are reloaded. I am trying to add to this existing jQuery, my challenge is events occur after the document has been loaded so I need to add Ajax events to this query to show hide the loading please wait image. Here is what I have so far

//Dialog box settings

$(document).ready(function() {

    // $("mytest").dialog({
        title: "   Test",
        resizable: false,
        modal: true,

How to center loading please wait image

I am trying to show loading please wait image while data is returned. Image is in a hidden DIV but I need to show it in the center on the page on top of the underlying controls and I am not sure how to do it. It's always shown at the bottom of the page. I tested it by make the display:block, here is my CSS:

The issue I'm having is that I have a ListBox with an image in its DataTemplate, and before I can change the list it insists on downloading all the images from the last selection first.  The ListBox WPF code is as follows:

Image loading with AJAX

Hi everyone. I have not done any web development of note for a few years now, and I've been given a project to do.  I am considering using ASP.NET MVC, and jQuery to give me some AJAX functionality.  I will have an image on my main page, and on top of that, I will want to show images that are going to be PNGs with transparency.  I am expecting I can do that with a lightbox.  My main question is, these images are big.  I can't preload them all, but what I would like is, when a user selects an image to load, they get a loading icon, then when the image is loaded, they get some sort of transition that causes the image to appear nicely.  I see some stuff online that will help with that, except that it doesn't appear clear to me that anything I am seeing is able to show a wait icon, and start the animation when the image itself is actually loaded.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Report Viewer Loading image

How can I disable the loading message that appears in the report viewer when a report is showed ?

The goal is to hide it, because everytime that a report is refreshed this imagem (loading) is always presented in the .net page.

Built-in Functions - Text and Image Functions in SQL Server

Text and image functions operate on TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. These data types are deprecated with SQL Server 2005 and should be replaced by VARCHAR(MAX), NVARCHAR(MAX) and VARBINARY(MAX) when possible. Alternatively you can also consider storing large string values using XML data type. Text and image functions are nondeterministic.

Future versions of SQL Server will not support TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. Columns with TEXT / NTEXT data type do not support commonly used string functions such as LEN, LEFT, RIGHT, etc. Furthermore, due to the large size of TEXT data you''re likely to see performance issues if you store such data in the database. However, at times you can''t help but use the TEXT / NTEXT / IMAGE data types (for example when supporting 3rd party databases when you cannot change the schema) - this is when text and image functions come in handy.

Program for Format Conversion of An Image

.NET provides extensive support for image conversion. Any image can be processed from one format to another. Most common formats to which .NET have support for are .BMP, .EMF, .GIF, .ICO, .JPG, .PNG, .TIF and .WMF.

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list
