Attempting to install a Reporting Services for MOSS 2007

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Greetings

I am tasked with writing reports for existing MOSS 2007, for that i am doing a test installation and test connection to a test moss server (copy of the main one)

So, i have a already set and running MOSS 2007. I am following theese tutorials

http://mosshowto.blogspot.com/2009/03/reporting-services-sharepoint-multiple.html#Creating-report-Server-databases-

But in my case, i have only two machines - one with main site moss and one with reporting services and sql for reporting services.

So far, i have installed SQL server, installed moss and reporting services on the reporting services machine.

I joined my moss into the existing farm successfully.

I've set up reporting services according to the tutorial (Except i use an account provided by test server administrator, which has all rights granted, since we dont bother with least privellege here, not a very big company...)

But when i check the /reportingservices page i see an error (its in russian) that teh server is wrongly configured. rsServerConfigurationError is the kind of error.

The tutorial said that i should see a blank page at this point. I will continue tutorial futher tomorrow (work day ends now

SQL Server Reporting Services not able to install on Windows Vista Home Premium

Recently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.

But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.

SQL Server 2005: Install reporting services - which version?

Hello - I installed SQL Server 2005 as part of an SBS2008 install. I need to install reporting services, but now I'm having trouble identifying which version (X64 or X86) I'm running. Is there an easy way of figuring out which installation disk I need to insert for SQL Server 2005? Thanks, Nick.

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Select Log Files: SUMMARY GLOBAL RULES LOG: Overall summary:   Final result:                  Passed   Exit code (Decimal):           0   Exit message:                  Passed   Start time:                &n

Here are the steps i followed for it Installed .NET framework 3.0 Installed moss 2007 sp2 Installed october cumuilative update for wss then same for moss 2007. Installed .net framework 2.0 NDP20-KB913384-X86.exe hot fix. and then ran the psconfig from command line as psconfig -cmd configdb -connect -server <SQLServerName> -database SharePoint_Config_ <dbname> -user <domainusername> -password <passw

SQL Server 2008/MOSS 2007 Reporting Nightmares

I am having issues of the Reporting services kind...I have 2 issues in regards to executing rdl report files (excel reports work fine) when they're read through sharepoint reporting.I'll give you a rundown of the components and layout I'm using first of all. I'm going to put in as much information as I can find, so if you see things that are irrelevant it's just because I want to dump as much as I can incase it tweaks someones brain. FYI I have rebooted the computers and IIS many, many times.Servers:Both of the machines below are VMs on Xenserver. We run on a /23 network for these servers. I extracted the install files and put the updates in the update folder for installation. The IP is 10.200.200.66. It's probably worth noting that I am using a trial key for MOSS at the moment until our MSDN license comes through.Devsql40: devsql40 is a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition x64 (winver 6.1 build 7600) running SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64. Install MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

An install of MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server seems to be problematic. MOSS 2007 creates a default website and stops the normal default website. As soon as PAS 6.3 is installed it installs to this stopped default website. How can I overcome this issue?

When attempting to install "Security Update Microsoft for the Microsoft 2007 Office system updates (updates KB2277947 and KB982331)" the sintallation fails and then I recieve the error "The detection failed, this can be due to a corrupted installation database". System Info: XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60 GHz I am running XP and have installed and run the "Fit It" tool, to no avail. I even tried downloading each update individually, from the Microsoft site, instead of through the automatic update. I also read this same question posted by another user (link: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/cfa66cd3-2aa2-44ee-9393-ffae41d4f70c/) only to find his info contained no answer either. How do I fix this so that I can get these updates installed?

Reporting Services Local Install

I am having problems getting Reporting Services working locally on my laptop. I am running IIS 7 and have installed SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services. The ReportServer database has been created. Within reporting services config my Web Service URL is http://localhost/ReportServer_SQLEXPRESS. I have created a virutal directory in IIS for ReportServer_SQLEXPRESS, converted this to an application and directed it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.SQLEXPRESS\Reporting Services\ReportServer. But when I browse to this url I get an Error: Access is denied. (0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Similar within reporting services config my Report Manager URL is http://localhost/Reports_SQLEXPRESS. Can't install Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services

I just installed a stand-alone SQL Server 2005 reporting services on a 64-bit Server 2008 machine without receiving any errors.  I have not configured reporting services yet, but I'd like to patch it with Service pack 3. However, when I execute Service Pack 3, it won't let me check the box for reporting services.  I've rebooted, etc.  The database is not installed on this server, just reporting services.

I have performed many searches, but I have not seen anyone with a similar problem.  What can I do so that it allows me to check the box during service pack installation?

The connection either timed out or was lost.

Unable to install Reporting Services

I've got SQL Server 2005 installed on a Server 2003 box. In trying to fix an issue with the reporting services so I can install Forefront Client Security, I uninstalled reporting services and now I can get it back on. The setup wizard tells me "Setup failed" and that I should refer to the setup log details (Backward compatibility files installation also failed). I uploaded the setup to: http://cid-ebb192ea4fefb7ba.office.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public/sqlLogs?uc=5 and I'd appreciate some help figuring out what's going on.

Thanks.
