Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I need to do lengthy processing (getting data in to 3 different temp files) for final report.

I have SQL script ready and it works on SQL Studio however, same query from ASP get timeout error.

I am looking for some ideas on how to handle and make this work. Where can I place this processing?

Zip Your Data: Using the Zip Classes in the J# Class Libraries to Compress Files and Data with C#

Zip compression lets you save space and network bandwidth when storing files or sending them over the wire. In addition, you don't lose the directory structure of folders you Zip, which makes it a pretty useful compression scheme. The C# language doesn't have any classes that let you manipulate Zip files, but since .NET-targeted languages can share class implementations, and J# exposes classes in the java.util.zip namespace, you can get to those classes in your C# code. This article explains how to use the Microsoft J# class libraries to create an application in C# that compresses and decompresses Zip files. It also shows other unique parts of the J# runtime you can use from any .NET-compliant language to save some coding.

Data from text files, What's wrong with my code?

Hi all, I have uploaded some tab-delimited .txt files on my web site (actually run on my computer, ie localhost, for now), and now I try to retrieve the data from those files. I do this by calling a vb file containg the sub below. Everything works great, except that the sub won't recognise unicode characters. I can split the resulting string using vbnewline and vbtab, but already in the sub in question, the string doesn't understand the Swedish letters åäö, apostrophes and more. Any help would be greatly appreciated! /Pettrer       Shared Function getTextfile(ByVal FullPath As String, Optional ByRef ErrInfo As String = "") As String Dim strContents As String = "" Dim objReader As StreamReader Try objReader =New StreamReader(FullPath) 'UTF8Encoding? strContents = objReader.ReadToEnd() objReader.Close() ErrInfo = Ex.MessageCatch Ex As Exception End Try Return strContents End Function

ASP.net copies my dll and pdb files inconsitantly to temp folders

Hi - Basic problem is I can't debug because the dlls and pdb files get out of sync. Seems ASP.NET (or my VS2008 Pro settings) copies the dlls and pdb to asp.net files inconsistantly. For example today (9/8/10) I just did a clean, then rebuild of the project. Then when I look for the dll and pdb files on the hard drive I see:  Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is 3EAF-1489  Directory of C:\Mypower\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\bin 09/06/2010  09:29 PM           221,184 Mypower_WebEngine_UI.dll  Directory of C:\Mypower\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\bin 09/06/2010  09:29 PM           501,248 Mypower_WebEngine_UI.pdb               2 File(s)        722,432 bytes  Directory of C:\Mypower\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\obj\Debug 09/06/2010  09:29 PM           221,184 Mypower_WebEngine_UI.dll  Directory of C:\Mypower\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\Mypower_WebEngine_UI\obj\Debug 09/06/2010  09:29 PM           501,248 Mypower_WebEngine_UI.pdb     &

what is the better design for location of system database data / log files and user data/log file,

is there a guideline for better performance for system database data location log location, like tempdb location etc. also better location for user databases/data and log.

Multiple Data Files Per Database Not Allocating

We recently read that I/O performance can be increased by creating multiple data files for a database: "As a general guideline, create one data file for each CPU" So went ahead and did this, and restarted the SQL engine, but still it is writing all data to the first file "Production_data_1". We would assume after we restarted it would reallocate the data across all four data files. Currently, the other three data files have 1GB of space allocated, but the engine is not writing data to the other three files. How can we distribute the existing data across all four data files? See a screenshot we took at: http://www.ftoperations.net/screenshot.png

As a Sharepoint Client are SharePoint data files stored on my local PC unknowningly?

I am strictly a SharePoint user and I access the Sharepoint Server on my client PC.  If I open a file simply to read it while it's on the server (not checking-it our for edit or anything like that) is that file written to a temp file or directory on my PC for any specific period of time.  Example when I veiw the SharePoint file or log off the Sharepoint Server?

master page data processing

hi...I have added code below and the problem isMy database insertion is working good with normal asp.net page but when it is a content page of master page, stucking me to insert data in database. One of the expert is suggesting me to take the advantage of SQL Server Profiler to accomplish it, but I don't know anything about sql profiler. I only know about stored procedures but don't know what is sql server profiler?*************************************My Code Behind*************************************public string GetConnectionString() { return System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myDbConnectionString1"].ConnectionString; } private void execution(string name, string username, string password, string emailid) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(GetConnectionString()); string sql = "INSERT INTO myTb (name, username, password, emailid) VALUES " + " (@name, @username, @password, @emailid)"; try { conn.Open(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql, conn); SqlParameter[] pram = new SqlParameter[4]; pram[0] = new SqlParameter("@name", SqlDbType.VarChar, 50); pram[1] = new SqlParameter("@username", SqlDbType.VarChar, 50); pram[2] = new SqlParameter("@password&quo

Data from SourceConnectionOLEDB to multiple files

I receive data from a SourceConnectionOLEDB and send they to a DestinationConnectionFlatFile.

But I need to send data to multiple files if the number of rows over a number.

How can i do it.

Problem with displaying and processing dynamic data

I need to dynamically generate a list of images in table format.  The images can be found in either art or picts, in temp, or in temp and in one of the other two (duplicate image).

The idea is to display any duplicates prior to copying anything over from temp to either art or picts, so I'm thinking of adding radio buttons if the same image is found in two folders.  I also want to add a submit button.  The user selects the image they want and clicks the button.  If they want the new file it's copied over then deleted.  If they want to keep the existing file the new one is just deleted.  If they select nothing, both versions of the file are deleted.  So the table will look something like this:

temp         art            picts         process
z-123                                           delete button
() z-234                       () z-234

Optimizing Data Mining processing time for a Time Series model in SQL Server 2008 R2

Does anyone have any references around optimizing the initial processing time for a data mining model? Books, blogs, etc. I have the Wiley “Data Mining with SQL Server 2008” book, and while I’ve learned a lot from it, it doesn’t seem to cover much around trouble shooting things like processing time. I also have a few other books that have a chapter or two on data mining, but again just basic “here’s what it is and how to set it up”, nothing that quite covers trouble shooting or optimization. I’ve also checked out the various Data Mining blogs/sites.

I’ve got a Microsoft Time Series model I’m basing on a Cube. Very simple, trying to forecast sales. I have one dimension which is the list of products (about 1600), a second which is the time dimension, finally the measure is daily sales figures for each, about 3.2 million rows in total. On a brand new server, with two quad core processors and 16 gig of ram it took 40 hours to process. Seems rather high?

Trying to recover data from Sharepoint Workspace files

I am running sharepoint workspace as part of our Office 2010 product.  We are heavy users.  I am recovering from a hard drive crash and reinstalling all programs on a new hard drive.  I can access the old drive, and I am trying to figure out how, and where, the data might be.

uid.sbmp.tmp files on SSAS temp directory

Hi, We browse a cube thanks to the Microsoft datapump and after a benchmark I notice the process msmdsrv has 2000 handle count.

Thanks to Process Explorer I know that this is the *.sbmp.tmp files stored in the temp directory.

Someone know what is these files?

I Can Not Burn Files To DVD+R, I Can Not Create a Data DVD Anymore. Why?

I have NEVER had this problem before.

1. I Re-Installed Vista.

2. I Installed "ALL MY DRIVERS".

3. Deep Burner Will Not Burn Data to a DVD+R. "Hardware Error 68,217"

4. Alcohol 120% No longer can Burn ISO Images to DVD+R, or DVD-R.

5. Deep Burner WILL NOT, Burn an ISO Image to DVD.

Deep Burner was working last night, I burned 2 ISO Images to DVD+R, because Alhohol 120% would not do it anymore.

I found out that Windows Defender did a Scan on my computer. @ 1+ am in the morning, this morning. When I awoke, I Disabled Defender, and Re-Installed Software needed. Considering Re-Installing Vista , again.

I NEVER have virus protection on my PC !!!!!!

I am very good with computers, and I'm pretty sure that Windows Defender is what ruined my files and system.

I have NEVER had this problem before, I will sue if my problem is solved, either by myself, or by someone from MSDN, or from Microsoft. I am not satisfied with the service from Microsoft.

I have seen the same problem with another person with an Acer ask the same question. But it's not because of crappy SP2, or whatever, it's because of Windows, and Microsoft Service.

I hold Microsoft 100% Accountable.
