Migrate DB + files outside DB into SharePoint using SSIS and scripts

Hello, just wanted to ask a question about SSIS and SharePoint, any input will be greatly appreciated.... did search the forum but could not find anything....

So basically we have a SQL Server DB with the metadata ONLY, WITHOUT the related files(doc/ppt/pdf..etc) which should've been in the DB and they are on a separate web server inside folders. Each row in the DB has a key (column) which matches the related folder's name, so for row with ID #112, there's a folder named ID112 on the web server with the relevant files inside. There could be more than 8+ files for one folder.

Now, I think it is possible but just wanted to double check, would it be possible to use SSIS and some kind of a script to get the metadata inside the SQL DB AND the related files inside those folders, combine & relate them and upload them into SharePoint as a custom list with file attachments? would they display the attachment normally (like the paperclip icon in a sharepoint list...etc) I wonder if anyone has tried this...

Any guidance, thoughts, suggestions for other solutions, inputs will be great!!! Thank you!!

Migrate from Classic to Claims based authentication

So this is really an outside the normal question and I am hoping someone has some thoughts. I am going to be upgrading a MOSS 2007 farm to MSS2010. I have to move hardware so I will be using the content database attach method for upgrade. The site is current extended to a second IIS Application to support both window and Forms based authentication. Since this is an intranet, unique security is used at the site level (and occasionally at the doc lib level). I want to take advantage of Claims Based Authentication (and use one URL, plus other benefits). I am well aware that that claims based token is not the same as the windows token even though the NTLM user is really the same. Thus that is what presents the issue. I need to "migrate" all of my current NTLM-Classic users to claims based. My first thought is to read the users added to each site (actually role assignments), find all users that have the domain name at the beginning of the member name and add a new users (appending the i:0#.w| to the beginning of the loginname) to the site. This works beautifully and is succesful. The problem arises in the that the role assignments contains SharePoint groups (which we don't use much) and AD groups. the SharePoint groups are ok (yes, I have to migrate the users in them too, but no problem). The AD groups are added via SID when it is claims based. This presents the probl

Migrate documents from File share to Sharepoint Services 3.0

Hi, everyone! One company is planning to migrate from File share, where they are storing all company documents, to sharepoint services 3.0, and begin to use document versioning, is it possible to migrate mass of documents to sharepoint services 3.0 ? Migrate an ASP.NET MVC 2 project to MVC 3 Razor view

Hi all, I have an application which has been built in MVC 2.0. I need to upgrade it to MVC 3.0 and that too by using Razor CSHTML engine. All the information which I got on the net was for MVC 3.0 Webform engine but nothing much for migrating to Razor. I would be very grateful if somebody shows me the steps or sample walkthrough for the purpose of this migration. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards, Tanay.

Migrate/Move Document Library from Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

Hi, I have a customer that is setting up a new SPS 2010 environment. They have a Sharepint 2007 environment with one document library containing only PDF files. They will not need any metadata on these documents, but would like it to be moved to the new SPS 2010 environment only to be used for history and free text search. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?   Regards Christian GrannesChristianLLoyd

Migrate from SPS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 on SBS 2008

Good news is a white paper and technet article came out on how to do this.  Bad news is that it had a significant error, and when I downloaded to follow, it was the day before the correction. I have finished the migration almost, but there are some issues that manifest itself on IIS and in trying to attach the saved configuration database. When I launch SPF Management Console, I get a warning message that"the security token service is not available." I also get two application event log postings, the first an error and the second right after a warning as follows: Event ID 8306 Category Claims Authentication.   Description: An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: Could not connect to http://localhost:32843/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc . TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it . How to migrate sharepoint site in 2007 with custom solution package and its content to sharepoint 20

Hi Experts, Recently, my organization is planning for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. We decide to go with Database content migration as it is less impact with down time due to hardware and software requirement (64 bit) in SharePoint 2010. We have a sub-site which contains a lot of customization such as master page, custom list, web parts and a lot of content. There is also a solution was built for that sub-site as well. However, as the time past by there quite a few update and manual creating from power users which concern to me that the solution package that we have does not up to date that can be use for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. I am planning to re-package the solution for the upgrade with all the changes users made for SharePoint 2010. But the question is how do I migrate the content of existing site when we upgrade to 2010? It is also possible that they want to change the sturction of the site when migrate eg: make this new upgrade site as top site collection instead of sub-site. Another concern is what happen after I finish making re-package the solution but during the re-package period users might make more change to the existing site? I would greatly appreciate for any ideas, suggestions as well as best methodology I should take.   Thanks praneth

SSRS Datasource is linkedserver issue?

I have 2 SQL 2005 servers with separate SSRS installs.  Using SSRS on Server 1, I am trying to save a report that I built using Report Builder.  The report is being built from a report model on Server 2.  When I try to save the report, I get an error....Unable to bind datasource to report.

The data source may might not be accessible from the location where the report was saved.
The report was saved to "...folder/Report2".
The data source is "/Models/xxxxx".

You will no longer be able to run the report until this problem is fixed

The item '/Models/xxxxx' cannot be found. ---> The item '/Models/xxxxx' cannot be found..

Thoughts on how to get around this?

Migrate App From SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008

Migrate MOSS 2007 to a new Web Front End Server

I have a MOSS 2007 WFE that on a VMWare virtual machine that has extreme lag.  The SQL backend is reporting no issues.  Just accessing the VM to move around in the OS (start, run, etc) takes 2-5 minutes, and as a result the users are seeing extreme delays in accessing pages, search results populate 30+ secs rather than sub-second, if at all, clicking links take forever to respond, if at all, etc.

i'd like to move the a new VM because attempting to work in that VM is maddening.  Whats the proper procedure to migrate all the pertinent configs etc for the WFE to another machine?  NOTE:  The second VM has been created and already has a different name and IP.
