System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A03EC): Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any mo

Hello good people,

I have this beast as an error. Did my research and found some posts here as well but did not do any good for me.

Here is what I did. I had an error regarding issue rights with COM objects so I gave access rights under component services for Microsoft Excel application now I am getting this error.

Here is some information regarding this

1. Gave rights to ASPNET and network service to my web app directory to try to fix this error.

2. The exact same process works on my Windows 2003 server and my Windows 7 development machine. I am trying to get this going on a different windows 2003 machine that is outside of our domain.

3. Developing on windows 7 64 bit with office 2010 installed. Also excel 2010 is installed on my Web server

4. Here is the code that is causing the error: The last line is causing the error.:

GC.Collect();
            MyXl = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
            MyXl.Visible = false;

            MyWb = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Workbook)(MyXl.Workbooks.Add(Missing.Value));
            int test = 0;
            MySheet = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet)MyXl.ActiveSheet;
            if (reader.HasRows)
            {

FaxComExLib InteropServices.COMException (0x800710D8): Operation failed

Hi! I've developed an application that takes a PDF document and converts it to a TIFF file using GhostScript library. This process is done correctly. I then setup a fax connection using FaxComExLib.FaxServerClass to send that TIFF file through fax. My settings (developing/testing environment) are as follows: * Servers are in a domain (baker.street)  - DC containing AD | name: holmes  - Processing server | name: adler  - Fax Server | name: watson * I have a special account BAKERSTREET\Fax The application is running as a Windows Service as user BAKERSTREET\Fax. This services receives Events from a MSMQ queue that has the processing information. (again, this is done correctly). The file is transformed an then an attempt to send the fax is done. Here comes the problem: Scenario 1: * Running account: BAKERSTREET\Fax * Fax Server: \\watson * Result: InteropServices.COMException (0x800710D8): Operation failed               The fax is not sent to the fax server. Scenario 2: * Running account: BAKERSTREET\Fax * Server Fax: \\adler (localhost; this is the computer where the process runs) * Result: The fax is sent successfully to the Outbox Queue in the Fax Server. Scenario 3: * Running account: BAKERSTREET\Administrator (domain administrator account) * Fax Server: \\watson * Result: As shocking as this may

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException with Event Handlers

hi,           i have written an ItemDeleting Event handler for a document library which holds images. the itemdeleting eventhandler works fine and displays the  errormessage on sharepoint error page when properties.cancel=true and properties.ErrorMessage="This Image is still being used in Announcements. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException'

After calling a very simple WCF Service I bind the result an Observable Collection of Countries to WPF ComboBox, in second ComboBox of cities I displayed the filtered cities based on the selected country. It works fine the first time but when I select another country it takes lots of time to display, the Visual Studio 2010 output displays this like 50 times:

A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in mscorlib.dll

Intereting to point out that it only happens if I try to open the ComboBox and not if if navigate through code doing something like SelectedIndex=2 . It does not happen as well if instead of the ComboBox I use a ListBox or TreeView.

Some extra details.... the real exception detail is:

An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040201)

Please help with this bug....

InteropServices.COMException reading DirectoryEntry

I am trying to identify information in ActiveDirectory concerning the local IIS server.   In the WinXP x32 world I have been starting with:

System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry IIS = new System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry("IIS://localhost/W3Svc/1/Root");

Howeve in the Win7 x64 world, I get an COMException when I try to access any properties of the DirectoryEntry object.

I am running as an administrator, so I doubt that it is a permission issue.   I also tried opening the DirectoryEntry("BadEntry") and get the same results.   I therefore suspect that the entry name is different in the Win7 x64 world.

What is the correct path to the default website in the Win7 x64 world?

Thx

I have a problem in my ASP.NET Website. I try to interop with Office 11 to display charts.

How to determine if ManagementObjectSearcher yielded no results?

Hi

I am using the ManagementObjectSearcher to search for available Serial Ports on the PC, the following code works well if there is at least one Com port:

ManagementObjectSearcher searcher = new ManagementObjectSearcher("root\\WMI", "SELECT * FROM MSSerial_PortName");

foreach (ManagementObject queryObj in searcher.Get())
{
  // code...
}

The problem I have is that when run on a PC that has no Com Ports, I get a Management exception "Not supported" at the foreach statement. How do I preven this from happening? I have tried

ManagementObjectCollection mocollection = searcher.Get();
if (mocollection != null)
{
  foreach (ManagementObject queryObj in mocollection)
  {
    // code...
  }
}

but this yields the same exception at the same foreach statement. Is there another way of checking if

Interop throw comexception when E_FAILED is returned

Im using a COM object within a managed c# application. In some cases the COM object might return E_FAILED status and populate anothe property with the failure details. In such a case the interop created when the com object is referenced translate the E_FAILED to comexception and the other property is not populated (empty) or even not accessible (accessing it after the ComException is thrown causes another ComException) Please advise tx Oren

my MVC app captured an exception i've never seen before in 6 months.

I thought the .NET framework had been patched for this "bug/feature" a long time ago ?

Do you know if we can safely ignore it ?
