Connecting to Sharepoint Using Windows XP Home

I'm new in using sharepoint and tried to use my windows xp home computer to connect on the company's network. However, when I am trying to join sharepoint as a client computer, I come up with the following message:

Run the wizard to complete networking setup

Problem however, is that the wizard doesn't run.

While I found info describing this issue for win 7 and vista, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926505, I can't find any regarding XP home.

Can someone kindly assist?

SQL Server Reporting Services not able to install on Windows Vista Home Premium

Recently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.

But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.

MS Word Component Not Getting Created on Windows 2008 64 bit Web Server Edition When I Try Using ASP

Hi All, This might look like a similar question to a lot of you considering there are a lot of web activity happening in terms of blogs/forums/suggestions that I have seen with reference to changes that one needs to do in COM+ Services to enable their ASP.NET Web Application to be able to create Word Objects & I have actually used them personally & they worked for me on Windows 2003 32 bit/64 bit servers. The issue started some 1 month back when I was told that we are upgrading our server to Windows 2008 Web Server edition 64 bit ‘cause of some real benefits it offers if used only as a web server. This was just great as we tested a lot of features /functionality that we were using on our existing server & everything seems to be working just fine on this product by Microsoft. However we also have one web module which is responsible for opening up a MS Word 2007 template file at runtime and fill it with data & is then converted into a PDF document. A lot of ideas on Web suggested that we should move onto Open XML standards to generate documents at runtime, which I have been able to do with no issues. But one activity which still requires me to create a Word document is when I have to convert/SaveAs the Word (docx) document into PDF. I tried all the COM+ & registry related changes that I did on my Windows 2003 64 bit server, but nothing seems

Windows 7 machines cannot connect

I have a problem with our Windows 7 systems. When users login they run a simple application that connects to a database (using a SQLOLEDB connection string) and writes a couple of entries. This works fine for all users on our XP machines. The App was written in VB6 and its essential we get it working or our Windows 7 deployment simply cannot go ahead. Problem is, on the Windows 7 machines all users get the generic 'SQL Server does not exist or access denied' message when this application is run. It will only run successfully as an admin user. I've tried everything I can think of, including disabling the firewall completely The users can connect to the same database using a UDL file so I know the connection details and connectivity are correct. For info it uses the Active Data Access Objects 2.5 Library and the sql connection string uses the 'Provider=SQLOLEDB' parameter. I've also tried update SQL Server Express 2005 to SP3 and it makes no difference. I then upgraded to SQL Server Express 2008 and still no difference. I installed the SQL management tools onto the machine and a non-admin user can sucessfully connect and browse the database using SQL Server credentials. So its not a driver or connectivity issue - but what else can I check to see why users get this error every time the app is run?

Cannot Connect to SQL server with SQL 2008R2 enterprise On windows server 2008R2

I have 2 identical brand new servers Running Windows Server 2008 R2 not on a domain but simple LAN. I Installed a default instance of SQL server 2008 R2 enterprise on each one with all the default settings. No Problems during the Installaion. I Added the Windows Administrators Group and Users group to the SQL admins role during the SQL Server Installation. Remote connections are enabled on each server. I restored the same database from a copy on each Installation. Configured the user accounts on each maching and made them sysadmins and granted permissions where they were needed. Now from server A when i try to establish a connection to Server B from SQl server Management Studio I get An error stating that the server was not found or accesible. keep in mind i can \\server B\c$ and vice versa, named pipes are enabled. I have never had this problem before in my life. And it's happening on both servers. I really need each installation of SQL to be able to see the other remote installation as i have to create a mirror. -Chris
