XmlDataProvider and XMLDocument loaded as string from code behind

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I am trying to load an XML string in a XML document and bind this XML document using the XmlDataProvider to a control.

However, I get the error message "The resource 'xmldata' could not be resolved." In code-behind this is how the XML document is loaded with a string at runtime: xmlDoc.LoadXml(e.data)

Any hints on how to solve the issue would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Pass string to Javascript function from code-behind...

Hi!

I'm trying to send a error message to a javascript function from code-behind, but it's not working. When the javascript is executed the output error is: [object Object]

Here's my Javascript:

function Error(error)
{
            document.getElementById("<%= errorText.ClientID %>").innerText = error;
}

And my C#:

try
{
        (...)
}
catch
{
        textError = "This is not working!!!";

        ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(Page, this.GetType(), "Error", "javascript:Error('" + textError + "');", true);
}

Even if i pass the string instead of the 'textError' variable i still get the same error :(

Can anyone help me?

How to deserialize with XmlDocument and/or XmlDataProvider?

Hi. I have a set of classes set up that I have used in the past to deserialize with XmlSerializer:

	XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Foo));
	Foo foo = (Foo)serializer.Deserialize(stream);

What I would now like to do is embed that Xml in a Xaml file that is loaded at runtime using an XmlDataProvider:

	<XmlDataProvider x:Key="FooKey" >
		<x:XData>
		 ....
		</x:XData>
	</XmlDataProvider>

I'm loading the Xaml at runtime (it's a ResourceDictionary), extracting the XmlDataProvider and adding a callback for when the data has been loaded and is available:

	ResourceDictionary dictionary = (ResourceDictionary)XamlReader.Load(stream);
	XmlDataProvider provider = dictionary["FooKey"] as XmlDataProvider;
	provider.DataChanged += new EventHandler(provider_DataChanged);

My question is: in my provider_DataChanged handler, how do I deserialize that xml data given that XmlSerializer expects a str

Calculating string length in points from code behind on the WEB server

Hi, I'm using the follow code to calculate some text by Font and Font Size:

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

private decimal CalculateTextLength(string text, bool isTitle)
        {
            Font DrawFont = null;
            Graphics DrawGraphics = null;
            Bitmap TextBitmap = null;
            try
            {
                // start with empty bitmap, get it's graphic's object
                // and choose a font
                TextBitmap = new Bitmap(1, 1);
                DrawGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(TextBitmap);

Run code on page loaded?

Hi,

I have a MVC view that contains some dropdowns like this :

            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C1, Model.CS.Category1List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>
            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C2, Model.CS.Category2List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>
            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C3, Model.CS.Category3List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>
            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C4, Model.CS.Category4List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>
            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C5, Model.CS.Category5List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>
            <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.CS.C6, Model.CS.Category6List, "-- Välj kategori --")%>

To compliment this with AJAX calls (to create CascadingDropDown) I have the following javascript :

$(document).ready(function () {

                $("#CS_C1").change(function () { lastCategoryId = $("#CS_C1").val() });
                $("#CS_C2").change(function () { lastCategoryId = $("#CS_C2").val() });
                $("#CS_C3").change(function () { lastCategoryId = $(&

XmlDataProvider: Bind an XmlDocument with an XmlDataProvider

I am trying to use a XmlDocument (xmlDoc) with a XmlDataProvider to bind the XML document to a control.

However, I get the error message "The resource 'xmldata' could not be resolved." In code-behind this is how the XML document is loaded with a string at runtime: xmlDoc.LoadXml(e.data)

Any hints on how to solve the issue would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Bug in XmlDocument.Save(string)

Hi,

I have a .NET 3.5 program sometimes throwing IOException from FileStream.Finialize. I think XmlDocument.Save(string) is not closing the file stream, but leave it to the garbage collection. Since I switch to using Save(Stream) and close the stream myself, I don't receive any of the exceptions.

EF 4.1 connection string code first and object context

I have a question about using  an existing sql express(from a web host) with entity framework 4.1) and using an existing database

Does this map directly using the following method. I posted this question in the msdn site and I really did not get a very good response so I hope someone helps out. my question Is what is the best way to map to an existing database on a web host

  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/adonet/archive/2010/12/06/ef-feature-ctp5-code-first-walkthrough.aspx here is using a sql  default constructor

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb896291.aspx you have to pre-configure entity framework here ....

I was wondering is this the way you do it using objectcontext

Public class  Blog context: Db context

public Blogcontext (Db connection connection)

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.
