Deactivating the Sharepoint 'Backend' for Anonymous Users

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all,

I have part of my site that's accessible to anonymous users, now the permissions are correctly configured so that they can't mess with anything that they shouldn't be - but i'd still like to disable the sharepoint 'backend' pages that let them view all site content/browse lists that they do have access to etc. - is there any way to achieve this?

anonymous users vs intranet users in sharepoint 2010 internet facing sites

We have sharepoint 2010 internet facing sites where inside custom master page we have security trimmed control which hides site actions for general users.

Now we have anonymous access enabled. So any body can access this site.

Now even if user is author or from intranet , he can not see site actions as we do not have any sign in link.

How to automatically show site actions to users from intranet and with proper rights and hide siteactions to anonymous users?

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

Deactivating web part feature in sharepoint

Hey guys. I've developed a web part using the wspbuilder tool (Web part with feature). When deployed (to a site collection), you have to activate the feature in order to use this web part - so far so good. However, when deactivating the feature, the web part remains on any site where it's been added, and furthermore, it's still available in the web part gallery? Is this expected behaviour? Is there no way of removing the web part from all subsites in the site collection, and also remove it from the web part gallery? Thanks ;)

Map Asp.net website Roles and Users to Sharepoint website roles and users

Hi I have created an asp.net website with SQL Server based form authentication and authorization. Now, we are moving this pure asp.net website to Sharepoint 2010 website. I have developed 5 webparts for my asp.net website to migrate to Sharepoint. All these webparts are avilable for access in the same page. Now I need to implement authentication and authorization for access to these webparts in Sharepoint. I am newbie to sharepoint. Can someone provide me how can I provide authorization and authentication in Sharepoint, which should use the current SQL Server based form authentication and authorization(roles and users of my existing asp.net website) and how can I map roles and users of my existing asp.net website to Sharepoint. Please reply ASAP. Thanks & Regards Mahendra Babu

Anonymous users submitting Infopath forms via InfoPath Form Web Part

Is there a way for anonymous users in a public facing site to submit InfoPath List Forms via an InfoPath Form Web Part? Currently when I go to a page with the InfoPath Form web part configured as an anonymous users I get the following error message: Error loading the form A form template (.xsn) file cannot be accessed. You may not have the required permissions to open the file The list allows anonymous users permissions to add and view items When logged in the form works fine

Incorrect number of users reported in SharePoint Usage Logs

* See last post - issue appears related to KB 969231 *   It seems SharePoint 2007 usage logging with anonymous access worked in IIS6 but not IIS7. Is there a way to fix it?   Background: The SharePoint Usage logging was working fine (approximately 20,000 hits per day) until the upgrade to a new IIS7 environment. The configuration in both environments is very similar (both Anonymous Access and Windows Authentication are enabled) however the new environment is only showing 600 hits per day.   This forum response from Cornelius J. van Dyk [MVP] suggests that Usage analysis/logging with Anonymous Access doesn't work, however it does work in our old IIS6 environment (a dash "-" is just shown in the usage logs which suggests an anonymous user): http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29823445/sharepoint-doubt-is-there-any-way-to-find-out-how-many-users-have-logged-in-to-the-sharepoint-site.aspx   So I've concluded it's differences in IIS6/IIS7 authentication. Reading articles on the differences (e.g.  single auth pipline instead of two-stage) doesn't highlight any obvious reasons why this wouldn't work.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks,   Peter

Excel Web Part - different Powerpivot Slicer disabled tue to sharepoint users

Hello, first of all i'm new to sharepoint. I found quite similar question to mine http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/9f23a77c-1527-48a8-abbc-2ccded736d9e but unfortunately it hasn't been answered. So what i have done so far: I made a Excel 2010 Powerpivot chart and Published it to sharepoint via the Powerpivot gallery. I also created a Excel web part with the spreadsheed in it. I am searching for a vba script to achieve the sharepoint username but found only some for the windows username. I also managed to disable slicers in vba. What i want to achieve: Due to the fact that the Powerpivot chart has some critical security data in it the different users should only see two different filter options (whole data and one slice for themself) So i need to disable slicers in the pivot chart tue to the sharepoint accounts. My Qestion: Is it possible? If yes, how! Any help would be appreciated. Is it possible via VBA or do i have to use Excel web scervices?  Thanks for your help :)

Allowing internal users access to Sharepoint site externally

Good afternoon.   This may be a simple answer (I hope so actually) but I haven't been able to figure this out. What I need: I have internal users who can access my Sharepoint site easily while logged onto my network, and external users who I have added to our Active Directory system who can access the site using our external URL.  Both work fine. What I am having problems with:  One of my users (internal) is on a different AD (he is on our European network) and he can not access the site either from the VPN (when he is in the US) nor from the external site (it will take him to the logon screen, but since he doesn't have an account on our AD, it won't let him in). I understood from our European IS department that all we had to do was give him both internal and external access to the Sharepoint site, and he would be able to connect from anywhere. So, how do I do that (give him both)?  Do I need to have our IS team turn on MOSS2007 to do this (it is not turned on today). Many thanks, I am still a newb at Sharepoint, but trying to learn quickly. Thanks, Jim
