Hi, i'm looking for ideas to solve a problem that is roadblocking our sharepoint 2010 records management implementation. We have set up our sharepoint 2010 records center to mimic our existing folder based records management system. We would
like to stamp each of our documents with a piece of meta data (called classification) which contains the path to the records center folder in which this document should reside. Our users are familiar with this structure and we can setup defaults for
a lot of documents so getting the value in the meta data is not a big issue.
The issue is that we would like to create a content organizer rule that would forward a document to a path defined in a meta data column to the matching column in the records center. I don't beleive this is possible OOTB but i would love to be proven
wrong. I don't want to manually have to create a rule for every folder / meta data value combination because there are thousdand of folders in the existing records center folder.
I'm open to developing a custom solution to this problem (or hiring someone to doe this), however not sure where to start... use the content oganizer object or a sharepoint timer job? Don't want to have to reinvent the wheel...
here is and example of what i mean by the metadata / folder pair

Hey Every body
I have a very strange problem. Our Company has a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 solution running as our company Intranet solution.
We have a solution where outside users, can gain access to a workspace site on Sharepoint where diffrent people can work together on projects that involves both out side users and internal staff.
We have a folder called shares documents here we can upload documents that we want the other memebers off this workspace too see.
The problem is that internal staff can open up Word documents directly, but the external users are not able to open up directly these Word documents. Word just sayes that that is is unabel to open up the word document.
But when the users download the documents instead it works fine.
I have tries with both offcie 2003 and office 2007 and the problem is the same. But if i try to open up these documens via Open Office the problem due not exits, then is works fine. Why does Microsoft Word have these problems?
And is it just when the external users are opening up the documents directly from the sahred Documens folder that we have this problem.
The external users are connecting to our Citrix Netscaller security solution for authenticating purpoes first, after they have been validated through this solution, they ar
Is it possible to add a new folder to my Shared Documents (SharePoint) from my network shares? Let's say i have this \\10.238.150.94\My Pictures and i want to add this folder to my Shared Documents.
I'm trying to find a way to move to parent folder inside Shared Documents webpart .
this tutorial it's only mentioned the SharePoint-wide UP button, but is there a way to move to parent folder (of the document library, of course) inside the
non-maximized Shared Documents webpart?
I currently have a document library that contains over 1,800 records in it. Each document has a metadata column called "Archived" associated with it. This property can either be True or False. Currently, every document in the document library gets indexed
by the Search Engine Crawling service. I would like to filter out the documents that have the archived property set to True, so that they don't appear in the search result. Is there a way to create a crawl rule that would be specific to a particular Document
Library, and that could filter documents out based on metadata?
My alternative is to create and event handler that would move the document out into another document library that won't get indexed whenever the property gets set to true. However, I would prefer to use a cleaner out-of-the-box way to achieve this.
Anybody knows if it is feasible?
SharePoint 2007 standard- sql2005.
I restored a production database backup at a test server. all metadata are correct at the browser. But, I get the SharePoint service account user stamps and time of the database
restore at the SharePoint designer.
I need to recover few documents with their actual meta data. Copying in SharePoint designer works but it transfers the meta data that I see in designer.
I’m starting to work with SharePoint 2010 Workspace.
I’ve read through a number of documents but haven’t found a solution to the following scenario.
We want to synchronize the users “My Documents” folder with SharePoint Workspace, and following that, have SP Workspace synchronize with SP. The process of getting
SP Workspace to synch with SP is very straight forward. My question is: how do I perform ongoing or on-demand synch between the user’s My Documents folder and SP Workspace? Is there a documented workflow or similar for this kind of thing?
