Error updating MySite profile in sharepoint (MOSS) - An unknown user profile error has occurred. Tr

Posted By: Posted Date: October 22, 2010 Points: 0 Category :SharePoint

We come across an error stating "An unknown user profile error has occurred. Try recreating this user profile or updating this user profile from the directory service to resolve this problem".

This scenario is observed only for a particular account. The User has got 3 profiles with different accounts.

Problem seems to be only on Production server while on PreProduction & Test server its working fine.

We have even tried deleting the user profile and recreate, but still the account is not accepting any profile changes. Also checked in the logs files but it didn't give any clue for the issue.

Is there any specific reason for this behaviour?

Hello! We are currently running SharePoint 2010 on Windows 2008 R2 servers. Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

SharePoint BDC - User Profile - 1:Many

Hi everyone, sorry for the long post, but I thought it'd be better to give all the information just in case there's a better way to do this. Basically, here's our scenario, we have a requirement to have Customers searchable in the people search (as in which employee sells to which customers). We have a sql database with 3 tables: - employees(columns: userid, username, displayname); - customers(columns: customerid, customername); and - employeecustomer(columns userid, customerid) - we also have one view UserCustomer(columns: username, customername) So we've tried to create the BDC Applciation Definition on the view. Here is the Entity Portion of the Application Definition file: <Entity EstimatedInstanceCount="10000" Name="EmployeeCustomer"> <Properties> <Property Name="Title" Type="System.String">username</Property> </Properties> <Identifiers> <Identifier Name="customer_name" TypeName="System.String" /> <Identifier Name="username" TypeName="System.String" /> </Identifiers> <Methods> <Method Name="Get_EmployeeCustomer_List"> <Properties> <Property Name="RdbCommandText" Type="System.String"><![CDATA[SELECT custo

User Profile Application Failing in SharePoint 2010 (14.0.4514.1004)

I keep getting the following error "This User Profile Application's connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or User Profile Service may not have been started. Please contact your administrator.". As sugested by Travis at http://blogs.pointbridge.com/Blogs/nielsen_travis/pages/default.aspx I tried commenting the two security nodes, removing its' allowInsecureTransport attributes, and setting then False. As Lionel wrote in his comment I tried also modifying "Central Administration / Application Management / Configure service application associations / Application Proxy Group" of my share point web application. My application pool for User Profile Service Application seems working and User Profile Service status is Started. One thing I remember about my issue, first I tried creating User Profile Service Application I got some error message and tried creating User Profile Service Application again. It gave me some other exception and than I navigated somehow to the "Manage service applications" page and there the desired User Profile Service Application was magically on the list with status Started. I thought - that's great! But when I clicked the User Profile Service Application link I got the nasty red error I mentioned at the beginning. Any ideas?Regards,Dawid Ireno

Profile page throwing an error after adding some "ask me about" tags

After adding some "ask me about" tags my profile page is throwing an error. To be more precise the AskMeAbout WebPart ist throwing a thread aborted exception and I don't understand the reason for this error. After removing the tags the sites works again. Some tags work but after trying some other tags the profile page is broken again. Unhandled exception caught during execution of Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.PageBase::ErrorHandler(). Sharepoint 2010: User Profile Sync with Person attributes

Sorry for opening another post following this, but I think this case is quite concrete: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/2fa02093-630e-4131-bdc7-0b979067f601 When trying to configure in Sharepoint 2010 - User Profile Application, an additional sync source from BDC (as at least, one LDAP Profile is required). The first approach was to create a straightforward SQL Connection with SP Designer, and it seemed everything ok, except I'm not able to setup synchronization of "Manager" property, which is great in order to see Silverlight Organization Explorer Webpart. As I have read in the previous post, someone pointed to setup a BDC with Visual Studio 2010, so one attribute is of type: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPUser. It seamed very logical, and so I tried to do such task. Once I have deployed correctly a BDC with this strong type (SPUser), the result is that I'm still unable to see any attribute when trying to synchronize Manager attribute. In Sharepoint 2007 this was possible, but not able in SP 2010. Any idea of how to do it? Just a bug? I have one very dirty workaround: setup a Timer job to run after Sync, so I can setup this field by code. But, for doing this, I would not need to run Sync process with BDC anymore. Evotec Consulting

Integrated SSRS and kerberos working great. But one user gets An unexpected error occurred while conn

An OLE DB error has occurred. Login failed for user

Hi there. I am setting up my first SSIS package and have no problem debugging in BIDS, i.e. Package runs from end to end without any errors. However, when I schedule the job in the SQL Server Agent, it fails at what seems to be the login to the source server. A section of the error text as below:- Code: 0xC0202009 Source: Package1 Connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB" Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'tsmreports'.". End Error Error: 2010-09-09 13:52:01.38 Code: 0xC020801C Source: Data Flow Task 1 Source - AccountPeriod [1] Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB" failed with error code 0xC0202009. Whilst the package has the user id and password for the Source saved within it, do I need to set up a separate connection string in say a variable and execute this as part of the package? If so how do I do this? Unable to Customize Custom Lists. Sharepoint Error: User cannot be found.

I am not sure what the best way to put/describe my issue . I am unable to customize my custom list. Steps: 1. Login to sharepoint site. 2. Site Actions -> Site Settings 3. Under Site Administration -> Site Libraries and lists 4. Clicked on a custom list. Error: Error User cannot be found. Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. MySite user profile site creation of My Content page is created as provisioned failed (unprovisioned

I've been trying to troubleshoot our User Profile Sync and have noticed the profile pages weren't getting updated with everything. Most content was but things like memberships and the content tabs weren't. I also saw this error in ULS: ProfSynch: Exception attempting to enumerate site 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e for ContentDB 23a6e3ef-6d56-4bde-825e-95c6924e2f91: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ProfileSynchronizationInternalException: ProfSynch: The site with ID 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e cannot be synchronized due to an unprovisioned root web. at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.GetSynchInfoForSite(SqlDataReader dr, SynchInfo info) at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.<get_Elements>d__0.MoveNext() I checked in the MySite database under the webs table and noticed all the My Content sites for all of our users had the flag column with the number 1315 in them - (meaning unprovisioned as the error above states). Cross checking with the User Sync Profile database under the SiteSynch table I noticed all of the sites have NULL for the value under both the LastSynch and ChangeToken columns (The User Profile Service Application - User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization timer job takes care of populating that).&

Profile EMM fields error when using Mysites cross farm (SP2010 RTM)

I have a question that took me a while already. I set up an evironment at a Customer of mine as following:

2 farms:

Farm 1 (publishing farm (PF)):
Service applications (User profile and metadata services)

Farm 2 (consuming farm (CF)):
Webapplications (my.portal.nl webapplication).

I published all the services on the PF and succesfully made a connection to the service throughout the CF. The mysite host location is created under the my.portal.nl webapp.

Everything seems to work perfect. The only thing that doesn't work is the following: When I open the my site host and want to edit my profile properties all the fields that need keywords or metadata are not reachable. When I put the my site host location on the publishing farm --> IT WORKS....

I get the red error beneath every EMM field that says: "the service is temporarily disabled...."

I believe I missed a configuration step somewhere in de connection part between the webapp and the service app when going cross farm????

I think problem is somewhere in the combination of Cross farm, Managed Metadata and User profile service....

Can anybody help me with this problem??

Thanks in advance!
