SP Outgoing E-Mail Error

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello Community,

I have a MOSS Server running on Virtual PC.  I have installed and configured MOSS to include incoming and outgoing e-mail.  Incoming e-mail works fine and my lists are receiving e-mail.  My problem is outgoing e-mail.  Right now, any outgoing e-mail produces an error message that is caught by the System Event Viewer, here is the error message:

Event ID: 6857

Description: Cannot connect to SMTP Host

I have checked and rechecked my outgoing e-mail settings and I'm convinced they are correct.  I don't have any firewalls on (it's a virtual development server on a platform that has ant-virus, firewall, etc.).  I have enabled verbose logging for SharePoint Workflow Infrastructure events but the SP Logs only have the same exact message as System Event Viewer.

I've checked out the other posts here and searched the internet as well but no luck.

Any ideas?

Tom Molskow SharePoint Architect - If I solved the issue please propose my reply as the answer - Thanks!

Configure incoming e-mail settings - Error File Not Found?

Hello I am trying to setup a test server for SharePoint 2010 and I have followed the MS instructions for deploying a single SharePoint 2010 server with SQL server. I have had no problems or errors during the setup; however now going through the recomended post installation task of configuring incoming email settings I am getting an error message. I have added the SMTP service to the server, configured it in IIS then gone back to the SharePoint central administration page. When I click Configure incoming e-mail settings under System Settings I get the following error message. Error File Not Found. Correlation ID: cc08f335-6762-4c70-a690-ecfd012ec3c2 I have no idea what is causing this so have no way to resolve it, any help would be really appreciated.   Thanks

Database Mail error

Hello I am new to SQL Server 2008. I am upgrading from 2000 to 2008 and currently working on Database Mail. I can send a test mail to say an email address like abc@xyz.com If i create an operator with the above email address, I am getting this error (in Database Mail log) when i send a test mail to Operator.  Message The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 3 (2010-09-07T10:31:24). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (A recipient must be specified.). ) Any idea why Database Mail is able to send email when email address is specified and fails to send email to the same address when used in operator? Thank You, V

I created a Dynamics Ax report. In this report some axapta static functions are called. When I run the report in browser it shows data normal. I created for this report email subscription(Setted the execution account). In the email is attached the report in pdf format, but for textboxes where it has to show data with results from axapta functions it shows "#Error". Running the report from link attached in mail shows data normal(Without"#Error"). Getting Error in Database Mail in SQL 2008

I have configured Database Mail using sp_send_dbmail in SQL 2008. It was working fine but then it suddenly stops working

I tried to send a test e-mail from the Database Mail, and I got the following error message:

Outgoing mail server in Not Configured status!

Hi all,

We have one test SP 2010 server on our LAN, it's a standalone server. Everything is working as it should be, except Outgoing Mail setup. The thing is we point outgoing mail server to internal Exchange mail server. We have same configuration for our five MOSS 2007 servers, and they work flawlessly. On 2010 we have same settings from same network but with “not configured” status under Servers Services. What is difference between these two SP setups? Is there something else we needed to do after SP setup or…? Thanks in advance for tips and answers…

smtp mail error

hi all,

i am trying to send a dynamic email through smtp in the code behind of one of my pages. when i try to run the app i get the follwing error

"The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc69. The server response was 550 Invalid recipient: XXXXXX@hotmail.com

also i am using an smtp server on my local machine so when i turn it on i get the above error, when i turn it off and run it i get the following error:

"The transport failed to connect to the server."

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? here is my code behind

Imports System.Web.Mail
Imports System.IO

Partial Public Class _Default
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim result As String = ""
Dim sr As StreamReader = New StreamReader("MyContent.htm")
            sr = File.OpenText("MyContent.htm")
            result = sr.ReadToEnd()
        Catch ex As Exception
        End Try

        Dim MessageBody As String = result.Replace("<YourFriendName>", txtFriendName.Text)

Database mail process does not start, no error generated, for only one maintenance plan

I have three maintenance plans:

1. Application DBs - 2am (checks integrity, full backup, log backup)
2. System DBs - 3am (checks integrity, updates statistics, full backup)
3. Backup and log file cleanup - 3:30am (removes backup history, .bak and .trn files)

For items 1 and 3 above, I see the database mail process start up and receive emails that the jobs completed.  For item 2, no email....the database mail process does not start and there are no errors in the event log.  The job history shows that the job completed successfully.

I'm having the same problem on a different server, except that items 2 and 3 email me their results, but item 1 does not.  Same exact job steps and times of execution.  None of the jobs are set to notify the operator, the notification is coming from the maintenance plan.

Obviously I've gone through the basics:

Configured an operator
Created a default, public profile
Enabled mail profile in SQL Server agent
Tested mail delivery

How do I diagnose the database mail process just not starting?  Has anyone seen this before?

SQL Server 2005 SP3, with KB 970892 applied.

Send Mail Task Error

SQL Server Agent Job And Database Mail - Error formatting query, probably invalid paramters

We have a stored procedure that we are trying to call with a SQL Server Agent Job. The stored procedure calls Database Mail. This is SQL 2008. The execute task is simply:

USE [Production]

When the job runs, it is erroring out immediately, with the error:

Execute as user: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. Error formatting query, probably invalid paramters [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22050). The step failed.

When we go into SQL Server Manager and just execute the SQL query, it works though. Something within the SQL Server Agent job,  and Database Mail is causing problems. Any ideas? Thanks.
