Changing an authentication of SharePoint site from SQL-FBA to Active Directory

Hi,      We are using MOSS 2007. I have customized a web application using Custom web part, features and ASPX pages. we have configured SQL-Form based Authentication for this site. I have also used FBA user management functionality from Codeplex. I have created some groups and my application (custom aspx page) is referencing these groups to send an email to specific person as per his role for certail events.        I have a requirement to migrate this set up on other server and change the authentication from SQL-FBA to Active Directory. So if I have to change the Authentication from SQL-FBA to AD then what are the steps I have to follow to make this happen?      I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks, Patav

Share Point Foundation 2010 active directory integration

I am having difficulty figuring out how to enable WBA for Sharepoint Foundation 2010. Currently I have a IIS site on port 80 that redirects to SSL port 443 sharepoint site and gives the default windows login. I am having problems with: Getting the server to authenticate users only their username. (users must type domin\username). Getting users to authenticate from outside the local subnet (basic authentication must be enabled for all users to authenticate) I would like a exchange form login screen but don't want to authenticate to a sql database so I am having a hard time figuring how to implement ONLY Active directory logins. I am confused with the IIS vs sharepoint settings since when you set items in sharepoint like changing the port number on a site it does not change the sites port in iis. So I am wondering if this is part of my problem with the farm admin account in sharepoint vs the application pool account. If anyone can point me to some relivant pages on these subjects I would be thankful. I have been pouring over pages in found by websearches and technet articles I think my head is going to explode. :)

SharePoint 2010 Chart Web Part does not appear to work

Using the sharepoint chart web part does not appear to work. Plotting a pie chart from a list with 10 items in it.  Using a numeric field for a Y axis and a choice field for X axis. The choice field has 4 possible selections. Clearly I want a pue chart with 4 slices. What I get is a pie chart with 10 slices, not much use. Fine I thought we've got this optional 'Group by field' so I'll group by my choice field. But then I get a pie chart with one slice?! Am I being dumb or does the chart web part not work properly?

Visual Studio 2010 can't find the Sharepoint Foundation 2010 Server when compiliing, Standalone vs

I'm wondering if we installed Visual Studio correctly cos when we get into Visual Studio 2010 the "Deploy as a Farm Solution" is the only available button option and the "Deploy as a Sandbox Solution" is un-selectable, grayed out, assuming the "Sandbox" solution is the "Standalone" approach? So when we go to compile a Workflow, the error message says the Sharepoint Server is not found" Could this "Deploy as Farm Solution" be a problem when we were instructed to install Sharepoint 2010 Foundation as a "Standalone" install? in other words we're trying to find out why when we go to compile a Workflow in Visual Studio 2010 that it can't find the Sharepoint Server Step 3: Install SharePoint 2010 1.  To install SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint Foundation 2010, open a Command Prompt window, and then type the following at the command prompt: On the Choose the installation you want page, click Standalone to install everything on one developer workstation. Thanks very much for any suggestions, ideas or pointers! BobK

Can´t set up local system accounts as service accounts in sharepoint 2010

HI I made an inplace upgrade to sharepoint 2010. I want to setup performance point services. but it doesn´t allow me to set a local system account as the application pool account for performance point services application. It doesn´t allow me to register a new account it says The specified user account "domain\username" is a local account. Local accounts should only be used in stand alone mode. The application pool account for the site collection that I upgraded is a local system account so I don´t get it? I tried this http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 However the upgrade fails after this. Is there any way that I do the inplace upgrade and it would allow me to use local system accounts has service accounts? Without Active directory? Thanks

Sharepoint 2010 search cannot work at all

HI I have just installed Sharepoint 2010 trial version. I installed with a 2 server setup - sharepoint and SQL was on separate Virtual machines. Previously the search could work. Crawl logs showed all success. Until yesterday I began to fiddle around with PDF iFilter and configuring it to make sure PDF could be searched. I consulted the following websites(http://sptwentyten.wordpress.com/2009/12/30/install-foxit-pdf-ifilter-on-sharepoint-2010-beta/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2293357 http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/PDFiFIlterSharePoint2010.aspx) but faced problem along the way such as - issuing IISreset command (In the end I had to use services to stop/start IIS Admin Service), -restarting Sharepoint Search Server 14 (net stop osearch14, net start osearch14). (In the end only the local administrator account could perform this) - I also had other problems/typo so everytime I tried, I did a full crawl. Then I noticed my search could not WORK AT ALL after fiddling with Sharepoint along the way. It showed all failures in the crawl log. With 103 errors related to 'The object was not found'. It will show my top level sites even, ie http://domainname - but actually when i clicked on it, I could access. IN the event viewer, it showed Event ID 14 error. Task Category 'Gatherer', Event ID 14, Source is from 'Sharepoint Search Server'. details

Creating local user account in Sharepoint 2010

Hi

I need to create a few account in Sharepoint 2010 that don't belong to the active directory import. I have logged on to the Sharepoint server and created the accounts and expected them to appear when I went to Site Settings and then people and groups and searched for the account names.

I did the same in 2007 and these still appear as the machinename/username.

Is there something I don't know about?

Small site embedded login validating against Active Directory and redrecting to SharePoint site

I am only finding pieces of this information.

Challenge: Have a standard page with a login box in the corner that is exposed on the web.  The login will validate an employee against AD and also redirect them to a site collection.

I have found information on claims based authentication and the AD Membership provider.  I have also found information on form based login pages.  Most of these examples though just modify the SharePoint form login.  I want to create just a small login box on a page that is already created.  The one thing that I can't seem to find any really solid information on is the redirect to a site collection.

Can anyone tie all of this together for me?  Am I using the correct terminology and heading down the right path.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Active Directory last name changed not updated in sharepoint service 3.0 sp2

Hello,

we have an active directory member where the last name has changed. However the change is not reflected in sharepoint services sites. When the user opens the sharepoint sites the old last name is displayed. When i look under the properties of the user in sharepoint the last name and the email-adress is still the old one.

How can i correct that?
