Personal view reverts back to default after updating properties of item

I am working with a company that has 1 site collection with several sub sites.  I have built 3 document libraries with workflow in 3 different sub sites and all behave as expected.  I have one site where ALL libraries do something perplexing;

If you are in a custom personal view and you go into the properties of a document and then exit (update or not, does not matter) it reverts back to the default view of that library.

Has anyone seen this?  is there an option when creating an album that could cause this?

thanks in advance for any input on this odd issue.

Rendering Partial view postback with data posted back and entire view context

This is the base Index.aspx view:<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %> <%@ Import Namespace="LMWebUI.Components" %> <%@ Import Namespace="LMWebUI.Models" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <% Session["HasScripts"] = "false"; %> <% if (Utility.FixNull(Session["LoggedIn"],"false") == "false" ) {%> <% ViewData["Login"] = new PartialRequest ( new { controller = "Account", action = "LogIn" } ); ((PartialRequest)ViewData["Login"]).Invoke(ViewContext); %> <%} else {%> <div>Logged In Content here</div> <%}%> <script type="text/javascript"> LMx.init(); </script> </asp:Content> This is a helper class> that I found elsewhere, doesn't solve the problem, but still works to display the viewpublic class PartialRequest { public RouteValueDictionary RouteValues { get; private set; } public PartialRequest(object routeValues

Columns in Doc Library Standard View are not seen in Datasheet View

All the columns appearing in the Standard view of my doc library are not appearing in the Datasheet view. I've look through all the information I have and it all it appears to indicate that boht views sould match:

Office and SharePoint 2007 User's Guide, by Michael. Antonovich published by Apress-
" . .this view displays the same information as the Standard view."

SharePoint 2007 by Ishai Sagi, published by SAMS- "The Datasheet view displays all the columns that were on the standard view."

In the Standard view these columns appear: Type,Name, Checked Out To, Check-In Comments, Modified, Modified By and Version.

Yet in the Datasheet view of the same library these columns appear: Type,Name, Checked Out To, Modified,and Modified . The Check In Comments is missing and the Version column are missing.

I don't see this same problem with lists imported from a spreadsheet.  In those instances the Standard View and the Datasheet view are an exact match.

Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

problem when passing data from view back to controller?

I have following situation - I am pasing user info object from Controller to View. It contains GUID UserID,  which i dont want to be seen on page.

So I  removed every   Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc... from generated View source.

And because of this when Html.BeginForm() returns that object back to Controller  all values is there but UserID is lost??

If I leave Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc.. in View everything is fine.

But I dont want to show UserID?

Where is the problem here?

                <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.C__User_Id) %>
            </div>

Large lists unmanageable in Standard View?

I'm migrating some content from a SharePoint 2007 environment to a SharePoint 2010 environment. As it's not much, I've opted for simply recreating it and migrating it manually. In this process I've got a few large lists.

In a list with 40 columns and 1500 items, I had to use Datasheet view to view it properly. The original view in the SharePoint 2007 version was datasheet too, so not a problem there. However I did notice that a standard view was completely unusable, it just soaked up memory and utilized one core of my dual core cpu to max, doing practically nothing. All I could do was close the IE instance.

In another list, with around 30 columns and 600 items, I noticed that the original was a standard view. So I created a standard view in SP2010 as well. However this view is quite sluggish, not at all as smooth as the SharePoint 2007 counterpart.

My quick findings are that I must use Datasheet view for all large lists in SP2010. Have you come to the same conclusions, or is there a another way of displaying large lists in Standard View?

The list is displayed in Standard view. It cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled.

Hey guys I have this showing up on my list that I can not see the Datasheet view. I have added sharepoint as a trusted site, enabled all my active x controls, I have update internet explorer 8, working on windows 7, and have installed office 7. I dont understand whats going on here. It works for the majority of our employees, but not all. Is there something I'm missing.

I've googled the ____ out of this and have seen this issue being talked about around 2007 but nothing recently so im guessing there is an answer out there that I havent found. Please help

view state vs request parameters

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

Thanks.
