Is There any way to change current activity in Sharepoint 2007 Workflow ?
View Complete Post
Does somebody know how to get current user (logon user) in an action of a workflow definition from the Sharepoint Designer 2007. I know how to do it by using .NET coding, but it requires to upload a dll to the bin directory of the application which is not
an option due to my company Sharepoint policies.
I am considering the follow implementation.
I have a workflow that user fills out to get funding and once approved (via workflow) I want to at the end of the approval generate the letter dynamically based on the values out of the infopath form.
Now I am thinking of the following solutions.
A custom activity where you point it to the word document to use and then set the fields out of the infopath that you want transfered into the word document.
Is this going to be even possible.
The type of data I have is fields from lookup, people pickers, text, curreny etc.
Is there another option maybe having a document lib with these fields as text and create new item in it and move these values into there (is that possible via designer?)
The document has to be able to be easily editable by the end user to change the template and also to be able to edit the actual document once created.
Any help would be great.
So, I need an activity that will replace some old text into new text in a given string.
Not present OOTB in SharePoint Designer, so - oh boy! oh boy! - we can develop it ourselves using Visual Studio!
Ok great, I did some reading about it on SP2007 in the past, but never needed it, so never actually tried it.
Now I'm on SP2010, so I googled again to find guides on how to write my very first custom workflow activity to use in SharePoint Designer 2010.
Nothing to be found.... The few posts about 2010 were only stating that it works still the same as in SP2007, and to look for guides on 2007.
Ok, so I googled some guides on how to do this in SP2007. I found one from MSDN, perfect to start with you'd say:
But really, it doesn't work the same... When I create an Activity Library project in VS2010, I don't have a class, like in the guide. All I have is a xaml file, no cs at all, and I have absolutely no clue what I should add in order to get the same class as
in the guide. Adding a regular class is not it, since in the guide they're using a partial class. So I'm blocked 5secs after I started reading the guide... just great.
I'm so fed up with the lack of information on development for SharePoint. I hit
i use the following method in While activity
private void WhileCondition(object sender, ConditionalEventArgs e)
e.Result = !isFinished;
and while debugging the workflow e.Result is equal True !!!!
i don't know why the workflow exit the while loop and make the status of the workflow
Me and My Team are new for Sharepoint and we want to resolved one task.
Scenario: We have approval workflow on Document List. Now, Our Client wants that once that Document is uploaded, workflow gets started for approval process. which we have done.
Now, They wants that once Document get approved, No one can change the document. It means document will be stop for editing, they can open that and review / print / do other action except Editing and Deleting.
Now, does anyone know how can we achieve the same using custom coding in Visual Studio or Sharepoint Designer ?
i guess we should remove the rights from that document permission for this else we have no idea.
But in either case, Please guide us How to do that step by step.
Thanks for your kind Support.
ive got a Question about Sharepoint Designer Workflow.
I have a Workflow which is attached to a task list. Every time a task is created a Workflow will be started. In the workflow i send an Email to a Customer in which i want to inform the Customer about the created task. The Tasklist uses different Forms (Aspx
Pages). This Forms are stored in (share point designer)
Subweb > allFiles > Workflows > MyWorkflow .
In MyWorkflow i define an Action to send the above mentioned information Email. My Question is if theres a way to set the Link to Edit the current task.
As an example i would like to have directly a link to the Current form.Is there an out of the box solution?
Or Maybe there is a variable in the workflow designer to get the current Form name -> Example below (in bold)
Thank you for any advices!
In my Rehosted Workflow designer i have constructed the toolbox with standard activities(ex: If,Assign,Sequence...)
I want to change the displayname of those standard activity while drag and drop from Rehosted Workflow designer toolbox.
Please suggest me how i can change the displayname property of activity while constructing the toolbox.
Thanks in Advance.
In this article, the author covers the new features in SharePoint 2010 geared for workflow developers and thenÃÂ walks the readerÃÂ through a couple of new user scenarios.
MSDN Magazine November 2009
We have a very simple workflow whereby an document placed in a public library (INBOX) is moved it to a private library (VERIFY) and then deleted. The workflow works correctly when someone who has access to the VERIFY library drops a record into the INBOX
library. However it does not work when the user does not have access to the VERIFY library.
I was told that I need to "set the AD group associated with a specific SharePoint workflow" but cannot find any reference to this in SPD.
I have a custome workflow coded in VS 2005 and deployed in to GAC and associated to a List in the SharePoint Portel through MS SharePoint Designer.
When an Exception happened in the code, the worklow instance' Status is shown as "Error Occured" and get suspended. since this workflow instance is "hung up" at this list item another instance of the workflow can't run. To run another instance you have to go into the SP Portal --> List and click on the "Error Occured" under the workflow of the item and then you have to terminate the workflow by clicking on the "Terminate this workflow now" link.
I just need to do this function ("Terminating the workflow") in the code in my Catch block where i handle the exception of the workflow activity.
could some one please tell me how to do this? or even point me in the right direction?
i've so far tried varity of:
We've been using the BizTalk SharePoint Adapter to load various different contents into a MOSS 2007 Document Library. The library has a MicrosoftÃÂ Office SharePoint Designer 2007 workflowÃÂ (sequential workflow created in Designer) which starts automatically when a new item is added to the Document Library. Or, at least, it eventually starts automatically.
For some unknown reason--and this is what we're hoping some of you may have some ideas on--the workflow fails to start on the first try, producing the "Failed to Start (retrying)" message. When the timer job comes back the second time, the workflow starts successfully, but this causes us to loose five minutes of potential work time (not to mention making us look bad to the VPs and CTO because they see the failure message).
In checking the log, I find the following pair of error messages each time the "Failed to Start (retrying)" status occurs:
