Textbox text populated by Session Variable wont update into SQL with new text

Hi everyone, I have what I think is a weird issue. I send text from one page to another via Session Variable. When page 2 loads, the text box has the session text set, but if the user changes the text and clicks the button, the SQL database is update with the original session text. If I remove the redirect from the page 2 button_Click method, then, the page refreshes with the textbox reverting to the session text and thr SQLDataSource has the session text added to it.

Why would the button click cause the textbox refresh with the text from the pageLoad before updating the data source?

Make the AutoCompleteExtender more like the Netflix search textbox

I am using the autocompleteextender control in a project I am working on for a client, but I would like to be able to match words in the middle of the data I am searching. Controls such as the search textbox on sites like Netflix do this. For example, if I go to Netflix and search for 'wolfman' I get results like:

The Wolfman

The Real Wolfman

House of the Wolfman

With the extender I would only get results beginning with 'wolfman'. If my stored procedure in my webservice is written to do search the text as I want, nothing shows in the extender (I'm guessing because so many top results don't begin with the entered text). Is there a way to get the autocompleteextender to behave more like this?

How do I make it so when I user pressing return, it goes to the next line in a textbox?

I've got a textbox control on a WPF 4.0 app I've written.  This control allows for multiple lines, and that works fine.  However, my users like to be able to type something, hit the enter/return key which they're used to having it go to the next line in the textbox, where they then continue typing whatever it is they want to type.  Well, it's not doing that.  How do I make it do that?

How to make a textbox or a label in my own webpart connectable with webparts from sharepoint webpart

I'm developing a webpart which need to be able to receive data from standard webparts from sharepoint.
My webpart needs to get data from a sharepoint formfield in an editform from a list.
I know how to connect 2 standard sharepoint webparts with sharepoint designer. But I can't seem to figure out how to connect my own webpart with a webpart from sharepoint. All I can find on the internet are examples where you need to have your own provider and consumer, not just the consumer.
So basicly I need my webpart to be able to connect with sharepoint webparts, just one connection is enough.

I'm developing for sharepoint 2007 with visual studion 2008.

Make a Silverlight TextBox update its binding on every character

One of the problem which I have faced during my learning and working in MVVM pattern and one of requirement when you have provided the search box as user type in some character in text box control you want to show results in the data grid control. But in silverlight there is only two option when you bind a property to update the source Default and Explicit. There is no PropertyChanged option which is provided in the WPF.

Textbox Editable GridView in ASP.NET

This article describes how I made a fully editable gridview in C# using ASP.NET 2. The idea is that the GridView looks and works like an Excel spreadsheet. You see all the cells in the table, and you can edit any of the cells you like, and they are automatically updated (i.e. saved to the database). This is very often how people expect data tables to work in web pages, and I've often seen people clicking in vain on un-editable gridview cells, somehow expecting to edit them, and not understanding that they need to click an Edit button at the end of the row.

Highlighting Rows with TextBox OnFocus

In another article I explained that how you can make the rows of the GridView control clickable and highlight them when they are clicked. In this article I will explain that how you can highlight the GridView rows when you focus on the TextBox which is contained inside the GridView control.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Local variable scoping in C#

In my previous post, Compiler-generated scopes for local variable declarations, I briefly touched on the issue of multiple meanings applied to the same name. In this post, I'll aim to flush out the compiler's rules with regards to binding names in their local scopes.

Compiler-generated scopes for local variable declarations

I was tasked with understanding and fixing a bug on error reporting with foreach iteration variables the other day, and it got me thinking about local variable scoping rules in C# in general. First, the bug.

Editable Gridview with Textbox, CheckBox, Radio Button and DropDown List

This is an example of an editable gridview containing different ASP.NET controls. When user wants to edit values in gridview, she/he can use these controls to edit existing values in Gridview Edit Mode.
