ConnectionOpen (Connect()).SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 22, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I get the follwowing exception while running my ASP.NET 1.1 web application.  The Web application will call a web service which connects to to the DB server and returns the data to the application. This error occurs when we move the webservices and databases to new servers.

I am able to connect to the DB server from web servers through SQL port.

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.System.Data.IDbCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillFromCommand(Object data, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, String srcTable)

Why does this error occur and how to solve this?

Hi Guys, The subject of this question is the error which I am receiving when running a scheduled job also this is an error which we get at a random intervals and the frequency would be once or twice in a month. I have been through several posts and didn't concluded anything out of it. At the time when we receive this error the memory usage of the database was normal with free resources available and also the network was stable without issues. Our Sql database is in cluster mode with named instance. Can anyone share some information on this, I know this is not the right forum with the error message I have posted but am sure some one might have face the same problem when running some ETL jobs. Source and target both are sql server and the error message is generated in the validation phase of the connection manager connecting to target database. SSIS 2005 SP2 64 bit environmentRaju

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (-2147467259)

I did a SQL 2000 migration from SQL 2000 SP3 to SQL 2000 SP4 on a different hardware.

I have moved the database to a second instance which is listening on port 1435 and I able to telnet 1435 from the

the web and app boxes and also the connection string seems to be fine with the user credentials.

Data source = 'servername\instancename,1435'

But still I am getting the error below when clicking on the url

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (-2147467259)

can someone please advise what could be the issue as I have checked the FW and it looks fine.

Thanks in advance,

SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied while connecting with Access 2010 ODBC

Hello all. I am using Access 2010 and SQL Server 2008 (locally). I can easily connect to server using SSMS and it works excellent. But when I want to import a table to Access 2010 using ODBC, it says that "SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied". It worked previously - almost 3 days ago, but now, it doesn't! Please help! Thanks Mohammad Javahery

Errors: 53 and 17 SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Have a SQL connection issue on a Windows Server 2008 R2 client.  Cannot connect to sql server using sql login or domain login.  Pings sql server and can access file share on sql server just fine.  Both sql login methods work fine from other machines.

I've seen a number of generic kb articles that describe various client related issues that don't apply (incorrect computer name, named instance etc).  Like I said I can connect to this sql server from other Windows Server 2008 machines just fine.     I was looking for the client Network utility, but apparently that's a legacy application that isn't a part of Server 2008 (if it is I can't find it).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Remote access to SQL-Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 denied

Hello, after successful installation of SQLServer 2008 R2 and providing my account as a 'sysadmin' I failed to access the server from a management studio of a SQL-Server 2005 release installation. The TCP/IP access is enabled and the server is configured to allow access from remote connections.  The error message reads a follows: ' A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify ... (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2)' Accessing the SQL-Server by the management studio from the local host works fine but trying to acces by command line using the '-E' parameter fails. Is there any additional configuration on the operation system level needed to open a SQL-Server 2008 instance to be selected by other members of  domain groups from the non-local host? Thank you for the answer

Access Denied and Null Returned while Accessing Web Services from remote server.

Please go through following scenario.  I am writing a web Service and one of its web method, I want it to download a png file in form of buffer from remote server. And My consume application will write that buffer retured by Web service in to file on User's Computer. However, I am able to do this using Local Web Service but when I published that service on my web server, I always get null retuned And even in one of my test code while copying file from that server , I always get Access Denied.  Following things I have done for above issue. 1] I even tried making the Anonymous user for the web service the system administrator (with the correct password), to no avail. 2] I also tried sharing out the folder I'm pulling files from to allow access from Everyone.   [Previously same service was working fine on another remote server with IIS 7.0, we checked server IIS Settings but in vain.]   if you know where we are mistaken please guide me to resolve this issue as its very urgent. Please go through following scenario.

Search Server Express 2010 - Access Denied when attempting to manage Search Service Application or P

I first noticed this error with the Search Service Application when I was no longer able to use the search portal, but have since noticed the issue with the PowerPoint Service Application.  When I navigate in Central Administration to either the "Farm Search Administration" or the "Manage service applications" pages and attempt to manage the "Search Service Application", I get this error: Error: Access Denied  Current User You are currently signed in as:  WHEELERS\MyUserName   Sign in as a different user    I have tried removing the service application and re-adding it, changing the application pool to running under an existing application pool as the farm administrator, as another application pool with the same identity as the primary web application, and as another application pool running under the SP-SearchService identity. The big recent change with SharePoint, aside from fixing the previous issue where I was incorrectly using CNAMEs with Kerberos, was to switch the main web application to claims authentication. That site correctly works with claims based authentication and Kerberos.

Connect SQL Server 2005 to Ms Access on another computer

I'm trying to create a "Linked Server" on my SQL Server 2005.  This linked server is a reference to an Access File on a remote computer.  I've set up all the permissions and shared resources.  I've created an ODBC DSN to connect to the database.  If i open the DSN in excel, i can retrieve data.  If I open a linked server connected to the DB I get the following error when i try to run a query against it.   ------------------ OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "LS_Specialty" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". sql server 2008 version upgrade failed access to path is denied

upgrading from 2008 r2 eval to 2008 r2 enterprise. Use the maintenance option from setup. Get pretty far along in the process.  But then the following error. ( an additional note. setup warns that I am running sql server on a domain controller server. ) The link the error message points to has nothing to say. Why would my sql server upgrade fail? Access 2007 upsizing wizard can't connect to SQL Server 2005 Express

When trying to use the Access 2007 upsizing wizard to move a database to SQL Server 2005 Express, I get the following error message:

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 2
[Microsoft][ODBC SQ Server Driver][Share
Connection failed:
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]SQL Server
does not exist or access denied.

I get the same message regardless of whether I configure SQL Server to run as a local system or service.

I am the only user on my Vista 32 PC and am therefore the administrator. As far as I can tell I have sufficient authority since I can start and stop SQL Server.

As a newbie to all this, I can't find any step by step instructions as to how a local copy of SQL Server should be configured to work with the upsizing wizard. In fact I can't even find any Access 2007 help walk-throughs on this upsizing wizard, let alone troubleshooting its error messages.

Any help would be appreciated, as well as links to step by step instructions (which I can't find in the MSDN Library materials).

PS Does MS understand how inadequate and inefficient its built-in documentation really is? Maybe that's what keeps MS Press in business!

Linked Server Mapping Error "Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists"

SQL Server 2005 SP3 32bit server
Connecting to an Oracle 10g server
Loaded OracleClient 10g

I'm able to ping the Oracle Server, and ODBC connect and able to run an open query with a single remote user id.

Issue: When I use the security context "Be made using this security context" it connects.
When I choose the "Not Be Made" WITH THE SAME USER ID & PASSWORD, I get the mapping error.

Cannot connect 2010 Access 2010 Excel or PowerPivot to Mobile SQL(SQL Server Compact) - SDF files

I've believe I've installed everything to read Mobile SQL .SDF files.  I've insalled Sql Server Management Studio, Sql Server 2008 R2, .NET 4.0 Framework and just about everything else I've read to see the contents of an .SDF file created for what I read directly from these product sources as this DotNet Compact Framework is the greatest new SQL stuff on the planet.  I can connect using the Management Studio and see the TABLE Stucture easy enough and I can query using some simple SQL Commands from the Management Studio but what really bugs me is if this is all so wonderful, how come I cannot connect to what the SQL Server 2008 R2 Server type "SQL Server Compact" Authentication: "SQL Server Compact Authentication in Office 2010 Access, Excel or even "WOW" PowerPivot!  I've run across a couple 3rd party .SDF Readers - one that exports to Excel such as flyhoward.com  I'm growing old with all the work around import export stuff and just want to use PowerPivot to  excersise the data......or should I use something that actually works like Tableau??

SQL Server 2008 R2, EXEC dbo.sp_cycle_agent_errorlog I get Access is denied?

When I execute the following SQL command I get a access denied message.  I am in the sysadmin and serveradmin roles. Why can I not execute the following command?

EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_cycle_agent_errorlog ;

Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??
