MDX::Data Picker Format incompatible with my date key

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I've searched the forum and net but can't find anything tht exactly explains how I can fix my problem.   The closest I've come is this thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/92ccae0e-a764-49b5-a3a6-f0acd111372d

I'm using Datepicker to pass date parameters to an MDX query.

The Date Picker uses the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MI:SS  e.g 2010-01-01T00:00:00

My Key is 20100101

I've tried various things but can't get it to transform the datepicker date correctly.  Two examples below.   Does anyone have any insight in to what else I could try.

SELECT STRTOMEMBER("[Date].[Date].&[" + Format(CDate(@StartDateParam), "yyyyMMdd") + "]") : STRTOMEMBE

The data types varchar and date are incompatible in the add operator

On the following query I keep getting the error 'The data types varchar and date are incompatible in the add operator'.  As you can see I have tried to convert the date but doesn't seem to work.  The variable @Date1 will start off as a date.  Any suggestions? Date picker format -> Preview vs Report

I'm at my wits end!

When previewing a report on one of our machines, the date format for a parameter insists that en-GB dates are invalid (dd-mm-yyyy-). Instead, it requires en-US (mm-dd-yyyy). When deploying the report, it goes back to the correct format of en-GB.

Bear in mind, this works on all of the rest of our development machines exactly as required. Only this one machine doesn't work.

I've tried: -

  • Setting the report properties to United Kingdom - it already was
  • Changing ReportViewer.aspx to include --> <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" Inherits="Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportViewerPage" Culture="en-GB" %>
  • Ensuring that regional settings (control panel->regional and language options) is setup to English -United Kingdom. It all already was (regional, location, language and advanced tabs all setup to UK)
  • Ensuring the browser on the machine is setup to English -United Kingdom, it already was
  • Adding <globalization culture="en-GB" uiCulture="en-GB" /> to web.config
  • Updating BIOS (not my idea, but was getting to the point where I'd try anything! Basically, the BIOS has the date in the US format, so despite my reasoning that it's irrelevant due to regional settings, we upda

convert date from datetime picker to sql format

I have an application that uses a time date picker control to display a date from a sql (sql 2000) table. Casting from the table to the control works fine, but writing a selected date from the control back to the database does not, I was under the impression that a datatype 'date' in VB would be compatible with SQL datetime datatime, and obviously it is from sql to vb as the date is correctly displayed in the control reading from the table. How do I need to convert the value from the date time picker control to write into sql ?

How To Set a Date Format In GridView Using ASP.NET 2.0

A very common desire is to set a column of a gridview to display just the month, day and year of a DateTime type. The problem is the by default, the HtmlEncode property of the boundfield attribute (
The problem is that if this field is enabled, you can not pass format information to the boundfield control. That is, if you try the following code, you will not get the desired result.

jQuery Date picker Implementation in ASP.NET

I've posted a wrapper ASP.NET around the jQuery.UI Datepickercontrol. This small client side calendar control is compact, looks nice and is very easy to use and I've added it some time back to my control library.

This is primarily an update for the jQuery.ui version, and so I spend a few hours or so cleaning it up which wasn't as easy as it could have been since the API has changed quite drastically from Marc's original implementation. The biggest changes have to do with the theming integration and the resulting explosion of related resources.

If you want to use this component you can check it out a sample and the code here:

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

Jquery date picker in ASP.NET Web user control does not work

Hello, I have the most frustrating problem and being new to JQuery does make it more difficult. I have an ASP.NET web user control with an ASP.NET box which I want to apply a JQuery date picker to, then of course I have server side code which takes the date and processes it etc. The date picker will not work. I can achieve a working JQuery date picker with an ASP.NET textbox if there is no user control involved, or within the user control I use a html text box instead, but once I add runat="server" to the text box, it does not work. Is there a way I can achieve this? (the web user control will be wrapped in an update panel too which at the moment will work with the html control/web user control without the server side functionality)
