System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid parameter

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

I have created a windows Service which invokes executables on remote machines, waits for it to complete and then proceeds to the next machine on the network.
The Account type for the windows Service is "Network Service". For monitoring if the process is completed on the remote machine, I am using ManagementEventWatcher class. I get the following error when I start the Management event watcher object.

System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid parameter
at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExt endedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode)
at System.Management.ManagementEventWatcher.Start()

The code (VB.net 1.1) I am using is as follows:

Dim connection As New System.Management.ConnectionOptions
connection.Username = v_sUserName
connection.Password = v_sPassword
connection.EnablePrivileges = True

Dim oPath As New ManagementPath("\\" & v_sServerName & "\root\CIMV2")
Dim oScope As New System.Management.ManagementScope(oPath, connection)
oScope.Options.Impersonation = ImpersonationLevel.Impersonate
oScope.Connect()

Dim processClass = New System.Management.ManagementClass("Win32_Process")
processClass.Scope = oScope

Dim inParams = processClass.GetMethodParameters("Create")

WMI and .NET: System.Management Lets You Take Advantage of WMI APIs within Managed Code

Visual Studio .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK provide a new set of APIs and tools that let you consume Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) data and events from managed .NET applications. After presenting an overview of what's new for WMI in the .NET Framework and the Visual Studio .NET environment, the author provides an in-depth exploration of the Management Extensions in Visual Studio .NET for Server Explorer. These extensions help you develop management-aware software and come in handy in a variety of distributed application development scenarios.

Windows Management Instrumentation: Create WMI Providers to Notify Applications of System Events

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is based on an industry-wide standard for notifications used to manage objects and devices across a network. By receiving WMI events, an application can be notified of changes to data in WMI itself. This allows the developer to notify the consuming application that certain system configuration data has changed, without the application having to poll WMI continuously for this data. The author presents an explanation of the different types of events in WMI, then goes on to develop an event provider.

Integrate LOB Document Management System

Hello

I think this is the right forum but forgive me if not.

As part of an interim solution we need to integrate an LOB document management solution within SharePoint and i need some expert advice on how to do it and hope this is the right place.

The LOB system has document indexes (meta data) stored in a database linked to documents held on hard disk. For now we can't pull all of the documents into SharePoint but i need a way to access them from SharePoint, i also need to acces them through the LOBs existing web site.

Requirements;

1. Be able to use the Entreprise Search within SharePoint to search the index data  with the LOB database.

2. The search results page to provide links to a SharePoint page which hosts the LOB's web site. Pass some unique document Id to the LOB website so that it can show the document within SharePoint.

My thoughts (i'm new to SharePoint and don't know if this is feasible or the right way to do it so shout if you think it's a load of tosh);

1. Create a new SharePoint site or add a new page to an existing site.
2. Add a Page Viewer web part (or a custom one) to the site which points, to the LOBs web site.
3. Define the LOB system to the BDC telling it how to find the indexes (meta data) in the database tables.
4. One database record corresponds to one document. So

Invalid web service call, missing value for parameter: \u0027prefixo\u0027 (AutoCompleteExtender)

Good afternoon.

I'm trying to put an AutoCompleteExtender working, but i'm having an error, that i discovered with Fiddler, that is the reason that the autocomplete doesn't work:

SQL Server Management Studio - Invalid access to memory location

In SQL Server Management Studio (for SQL Server 2008), when I try to open a new query window, or create a new database, I get a popup error box saying the following: "Invalid access to memory location. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703E6) (mscorlib)" This just started happening in the last few days, and I have no idea why.  I even uninstalled SQL Server 2008, and then installed SQL Server 2008 R2, and continued to get the exact same error, in the exact same scenarios. Please let me know if you have seen this before, and what I might try to correct it. Thanks, Robert

SSRS 2008 Export to PDF fails for large data with System.Exception: Parameter is not valid

Hi, We are working on Range Bar Chart using SSRS 2008. The report has huge data. It is properly displaying the data, but when we tried to export to pdf it is failing with the following exception. Exporting to excel works fine. Also if the report has small/medium data it is property exporting to PDF. It is failing only in case of huge data (we have custom page size of 28" X 14"). Of course the report has lot of expressions we used to customize the colors/text as per our requirements.   Server Error in '/Reports_SQLDEV2008' Application. Parameter is not valid. Allow System.Enum and System.ValueType as parameter types in a custom attribute

This is a continuation from a Microsoft Connect posting: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/507907/error-an-attribute-argument-must-be-a-constant-expression-etc-incorrectly-received-when-the-argument-is-of-type-enum I am replying to Karel Zikmund’s latest posting, dated 29/07/2010 at 12:57.   Thank you for your response Karel, but once again, I am afraid you are wrong: > > This is irrelevant: the same is true irrespective of whether the parameter type is System.Enum or System.Object. > It is actually relevant - Think how IL code for this code should look like: >    void MyMethod(System.Enum arg) { System.WriteLine(arg); } >    MyMethod(MyInt1Enum.One); >    Mymethod(MyInt4Enum.Two); I’ve looked at the generated IL. It looks exactly the same as it does if I change the parameter type to System.Object. This is also what I expected. What IL did you expect to be generated? > System.Object is passed by reference which is a fixed size (4 or 8 bytes on x86 or x64 arch respectively). Yes, and so is System.Enum (and System.ValueType). > Enums and value types are passed by value (unless they are boxed) and their size therefore has to be known at JIT time. Yes, but System.Enum and System.ValueType are both neither an enum type nor a value type — they are both reference types that

System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException 'ComboBox' has a SelectedIndex which is invalid because it does

Hi,

I think I have a complicated one here.

Synopsis: I have a AJAX enabled ASP.Net application, the purpose of which is to allow users to ad hoc drill an engineering database.  The application UI is divided into three sections, Filtering, Column Selection, and Results. The filtering section (implemented as a user web control) uses a PlaceHolder control, to which I allow addition and removal of individual Filter user controls.

All of that works well. The Filter user control essentially consists of three ComboBox controls with SqlDataSources bound to each of those ComboBoxes, and a TextBox to enter in a value. The first ComboBox, once a value is selected in its list, passes the SelectedValue to the SqlDataSource of the next ComboBox, which uses that value as a Select Parameter so the DataSource can fill out the ListItems of the next ComboBox. So simply, the results of the previous one cascade to the next.

Again, all this worked well. But one of the requirements was to allow storage of these queries the customer comes up with, allowing them to reload the query at a later time to run again.

I implemented that by writing a simple set of container classes, Filter, Column, and Query, where Query has public arrays of Filters and Columns. I serialize that simple Query object, then store it as XML in my database. To reload i
