sharepoint changing content type layout has no effect on old pages

When I add new page with this content type it has latest version.

How can I fix this? I want my current pages to use new content type layout.

Sharepoint 2007 - Wiki site - New Pages Not Inheriting Custom Master Page

I am working on a SP site (MOSS not WSS) which is heavily customised away from the OOTB layout. I need to create a Wiki site, which was going well - I've created a master page which displays the miniconsole (this was not visible with our customised layout), and made it the default master page for the site. This has been applied to the two standard pages that come with the Wiki site, however when a new page is created, it seems to inherit the default.master, rather than my custom master page - thus not showing the miniconsole.

When I have created a new page, I am able to use SharePoint Designer to attach my custom master page to it, which works perfectly, however this will not be a viable option going forward as end-users create their new wiki pages.

How can I get the new pages to inherit my master page when they are created?

Sharepoint 2007 publishing site home page displays unknown file type security message

I am using sharepoint 2007 sp2, it has been workig fine for the past 8 months but since one of the developers installed .net 4.0 framework, every time we create a new sharepoit publishng site or extend and existing application the home url displays an "Unknown File Type" security warning message and asks users to download the file.  If i manually tupe in the full url http://www.mysite.com/pages/default.aspx it is displayed correctly. I have uninstalled .net 4 from the server but i still have the same  error. I have tried to replicate this error on a development server but sharepoitn works fine on that even with .net 4.0 installed.

Has anyone had the same issue ? I would appreciate  any suggestios or help with troubleshootig this issue.

feature for content type in sharepoint 2010

how can i create a feature for content type in sharepoint 2010

Change Content Type then Change Page Layout of an Existing Page

One of our content managers has added about 10 new web pages but has used the wrong page layout.  The site that these pages are in has 3 options of page layout that can be used.  They are:

(WDC Article) One Column-Std
(WDC Article) Two Column-Std
(WDC News) Public Notices and News

As you can see, there are 2 content types within the site.  The content manager has used the "(WDC Article) One Column-Std" page layout instead of the "(WDC News) Public Notices and News" page layout.

I have tried to edit the page layout via the 'Page Settings and Schedule' area but I only get the "(WDC Article) One Column-Std" and "(WDC Article) Two Column-Std" page layout options - there is no option to select "(WDC News) Public Notices and News".

I have tried to change the page content type from WDC Article to WDC News so I will have the "(WDC News) Public Notices and News" page layout option but it keeps reverting back to WDC Article or I get an error.

Any ideas of how I can change all pages that use "(WDC Article) One Column-Std" page layout to "(WDC News) Public Notices and News" page layout (the correct layout)?

Thanks :)

Set default Page Layout using Feature Stapling in SharePoint Site

I need to create custom SharePoint Feature using Visual Studio to set Default Page Layout for the publishing pages created in publishing site/ sub-sites.

Can you please guide me steps to create the custom feature using Visual Studio and how to deploy the same in the site.

Inheriting from publishing page content type does not allow for overriding fields in SharePoint 2010

Hi there, we are creating custom content types that inherit from the "Page" content type.  We have found that we must have the "Inherits" property set to "TRUE" or else our custom content types do not show up in the content type gallery.  If we query the site collection using management shell the content type does appear to be there, but unfortunately it will not publish from the content type hub. If we set Interits=TRUE the content type deploys properly and appears in the content type gallery, but we cannot override (change the display name) or remove any of the inherited fields. Ultimately, we would like to have our content types inherit from "Page" and also override some of the "Page" fields, but this does not appear to be possible. We have spent quite a bit of time on this issue and are wondering if this is a bug or intential behavior of the "Page" content type. Any information you can provide would be appreciated?

P.S. We have ran similar tests inheriting from "Document" and "Item" content types and do not encounter the same issue with overriding inherited fields.

Adding the Content Editor Web Part to a SharePoint Layout .aspx page

we've created a layout page that contains the Rich Text Editor web part. But the client requires a web part that allows the embedding of audio/video files. The Rich Text Editor strips out the objects when we try to embed them.

I've used the Content Editor Web Part to add audio and video files (by manually adding the web part to the page), but I can't find the definition for that web part to include it in the layout page so that the client doesn't need to manually add the web part themselves to every page that requires it. (Which could be many pages.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

WSS 3.0 Content Type with Office 2007

We're currently encoutering an issue on our production servers with Office 2007 documents. In essence, the Content Type for all docx, xslx, and pptx documents cannot be changed away from the site default on all newly created sites.

I've even done some step by step debugging on an SPItem insert and I can set the content type to a custom type, but it reverts back to the site's default Content Type on Update(). Other file types - .doc, .xls, .tif, .txt, and .jpg - have all been tested, and all work as expected (the Content Type changes correctly).

Thanks in advance!

Issue with List Definition of same base content type and deployed via same feature

I am trying to deploy two custom list definitions using only one single feature.  Below are the details of my issue.

  • Two custom list definitions
  • Each custom list definition has its own custom content type
  • Each custom content type inherits from the base content type Picture (Type = 109)
  • The custom list definitions are grouped together under one single feature
  • The custom content types are grouped together under a seperate single feature

When I deploy my solution in this configuration, the second list definition gets the first custom content type applied to it and the list schema from the first list definition is also applied to the second list definition.

What makes this more interesting, when I seperate both of the list definitions under two seperate features it all works fine.  Custom content types and list schemas get applied correctly.

Can anyone tell me why I can not deploy both list definitions under one single feature?

If you need me to post any of the origional code or XML to this post please let me know.
